I absolutely love this store!! They have so many beautiful unique pieces. I've always enjoyed just browsing to see what they have from time to time. I've shown this store to my mom because most of their stuff is her style. This past Saturday, I had 3 parties to go to back to back. The dress I had purchased online to work for my day of birthday brunch, baby shower, and engagement party unfortunately was too big on me and I didn't have anything else to wear. I came to Sara's Boutique as soon as they opened at 10am and Kasandra started collecting dresses that would work for the occasion and my petite frame. I was so impressed with how quickly she gathered 6 dresses together for me to choose from. I loved these two dresses I found but eventually decided to get the one that is less white. Sara's is a wonderful boutique in the heart of downtown La Mesa. (I love downtown La Mesa!) I have been a patron of Sara's Selections for as long as they've been there...10+ years? They have always had the most unique, colourful, and trendy collections and then colourful classic pieces for me. I am not trendy. ;-) On Wednesday, my mom and I went to lunch and a walkabout and of course had to stop in Sara's. We hadn't been inside in a year or so. I loved walking in and seeing the treasure trove of pieces that caught my immediate attention. The prices on everything are moderate. They haven't raised their prices much over the years which is amazing. I couldn't help myself, Kassandra, Sara's daughter, was assisting us and the other patrons in the shop. She was lovely! She somehow knew without me saying or mentioning or even touching that I am a pantsuit girl. She brought me two and I was sold...hook, line, and sinker! I tried on both that she brought to me and they fit like a glove. The styles and patterns were different between the two and not something I've seen in any other store which is one of the many things that makes Sara's such a gem. Sara's Selections is a great boutique to shop at! There are always new styles coming in, so each time I go there is something new to find. The staff are helpful and kind. They make the experience even better. Prices range but are generally reasonable given the quality of the clothes. Everything I have purchased has held up well. Went into this store for the first time and purchased a blouse that was on sale. I tried it on at home and it was too tight in the bust. I took it back and was told I could not return it because it had been marked down. I explained that it did not fit. The sales girl pointed to a tiny little sign by the register that said " no returns on sale items". I never noticed that sign nor did the clerk mention this when I purchased it. I asked if could exchange it and she said no. After some arguing, she said "ok, you can exchange it if you find something right now. There wasn't anything that I was interested in right then. A lot of the clothes are for tiny people and expensive. So I'm stuck with an overpriced blouse that doesn't fit. The salesperson wasn't very nice about the whole thing. Bad customer service. I see no reason why I could not return the blouse or exchange it whenever they may have had something appropriate for me. read more

I've always enjoyed shopping at this store. I own some nice jewelry pieces from here. Today I was profiled and made to feel so uncomfortable as soon as I walked in the store. There were two other woman shopping and they were spoken to very sweetly even by first name. As soon as I was looking at jewelry how I have a bunch of times when I've came in. One of the associates was standing right behind me the entire time. Everywhere I would go to around the store she continued to follow me. When I asked why she said they've had a lot of theft recently and they have to be watching you when you're looking at the jewelry. Super uncomfortable and disturbing experience. Such a cute little shop in Downtown La Mesa that I stumbled upon while there for the weekly car show. This really pretty white dress called my name and I was ready to pull out my credit card... That is until I saw the price tag. Almost $60 for a dress that was almost t-shirt like and very delicate. I have worked as a manager for a boutique in the past and I know what the cost of clothing is. I could not believe how much they mark up their items. I tried to take the location into the consideration but I still don't really understand. If they had any promotions or sales then maybe I would have easily spent some good money in there. Used to love to shop here. Lovely clothes and jewelry. I recently bought a knit top. I wore it once and wash it according to label instructions. It fell apart! They wouldn't refund my money or even give me a store credit, as it was never worn and did not have the original tag on it. I was told unfortunately store was policy was such. I have never been so offended shopping in my life!! I was out strolling the village with my kids and happen to see a romper I wanted to buy in the window. I walked in with my two boys (both extremely well behaved!) and asked where I could find it. The sales girl looked at me like she was wondering why I was in there and instantly said to me before even helping me find the romper, "if anything breaks I have to charge you full price". At first I was confused, then I asked her, "because of my kids?". She looked at me kinda dumbfounded, and said "yes sorry". I could not believe that such a cute boutique would have such unprofessional people working. I will take my business to another local boutique that actually has employees that make their customers feel welcomed, ESPECIALLY when they are ready to shop! I have been wanting to walk into this place for years. I finally had some time to do a quicky (; So many cute clothes; I felt I was almost in heaven. After 10 minutes I had three new shirts and one pair of pants. But when I got home, I realized I was $150 poorer. My clothes were supposed to cost $118? What? I knew I voted for a tax increase in the city of La Mesa but it was certainly not a 30% tax. I called and after some detailed research the clerk realized they overcharged me. She said she would credit my card back. Other than the billing error, I would give it a 5. They have cute purses, shoes, dresses (day and evening wear), jeans, fantastic shirts, accessories. EVERYTHING you need to complete an outfit. I no longer have to go to four stores to get my outfits. Good stuff. Some rare finds. Although I won't leave Mimi & Red just yet. I am a super fan of this little gem in La Mesa. Very friendly staff and the prices are great. I just wish they carried larger sizes. I find they tend to cater to a smaller framed figures. Hint hint to the owner... please buy more larger sizes. That " one size fits all" grouping doesn't really work for every body type. read more

I asked one of my coworkers where she bought her clothes because they were so cute. They were at Bohemian and remind me of the brand free people. She told me she got them here so one day when I remembered that conversation and I was near La Mesa I decided to stop by. They have some unique selections and might only have one or two of each item so it's a really good idea to take your time and take a good look around. The girl working there it was so nice and sweet to me and kept piling clothes that I picked out into the dressing room. I must've tried on 20 items!! She brought me some clothes that she thought I might like as well based on what I had already chosen. I loved and when I was iffy about buying an item I came out and she helped me take a good look at it in a bigger mirror with better lighting. I so enjoyed my experience here. I ended up buying two dresses but I'll definitely be back for more to see what else they've got as the weeks change. They even give you a coupon, on their business card when you check out. I hope I remember this the next time I go but I'll definitely be back. Parking is metered outside. read more
