We dined here on 6/18/23, Father's Day. This may be THE BEST restaurant we have ever eaten at! The atmosphere, service and food are all impeccable. We were so pleased with everything. We had the crab croquettes and oysters for appetizers. Then for main entrees we had the duck, salmon and wagyu. And for dessert, the three of us split the bread pudding. It was all phenomenal! We had a lovely dinner (again) at MC Perkins Cove this weekend. The view is always beautiful at sunset, and food and service fabulous. The staff really know the menu and are very attentive, and Javier and Dana are very present to make sure everything is perfect. Our meals were delicious, with perfectly done fish and seafood, and the vibrant sauces that really made it all sparkle. Our only regret -- we forgot to leave room for dessert! (portions are quite generous)We so enjoyed the entire evening, and will be back whenever we are in town! read more

OThe view takes this place to 3 stars. Honestly, I've had better food in airport restaurants. I will agree with the rest of low star reviewers that the staff here is pretty pretentious. Simple customer service standards are completely ignored here ... you are treated as though you are a nuisance by front line folks (greeters/etc.) and you are rushed through your meal even during non-busy times. As you walk through the restaurant, there are James Beard metals everywhere as well as clippings from Bon Appetit and Gourmet magazines ... One would assume that they were for MC Perkins Cove but if you read them, they are actually from another restaurant which is owned by the same folks. This was a bit weird as we didn't see a single accolade or framed photo from THIS actual restaurant ... only the other one was named. The food here was pretty mediocre. Everything on the menu looks like it's straight off the show Chopped based on the descriptions but what actually comes out is very different than the expectation. The grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup tasted great but at $16 (ish) it ended up being just a simple grilled cheese, no more, no less. (There's a $18 ham and cheese sandwich on the menu as well.) The lobster roll was $28 and there was a parenthesis next to it explaining the cost to be unseasonably high. When the roll came, it looked very full but I wasn't able to find a single piece of tail meat. It seemed to be entirely made of lobster claws. It was barely dressed with mayo or butter and instead had herbs and spices sprinkled over it, which overwhelmed the lobster and sort of took away from the taste. The best part of the roll were the french fries it came with, which were hand cut and fried. Some were a bit soggy but overall they were the best part of the meal. The fish tacos were horrible. They were made with what seemed like Ortega white flour tortillas, the kind you get at the grocery store for $1.50 per package. Seriously, they did not even pop the tortilla on the grill for a few seconds. It was straight from the package. The fish was cut into strips and fried with cornmeal making it a bit bland tasting and gritty. The colorful purple cabbage strips were more of an Instagramable ingredient than a tasty one. It came with 3 sauces, none of which blew us away. Overall, this was a bland, mall food court worthy taco. Other tables were saying the same. The drink menu is good, although without prices, which is a scary thing at a place which charges $18 for a ham sandwich. Obviously, the best part of the meal is the view from the deck. They list it on the menu card as being named 'One of The Wall Street Journal's Top 10 Restaurant Views in the WORLD' which is QUITE an overstatement. It's a beautiful Maine view of the Rocky coastline ... but Jackie's Too next door has a fairly comparable view as does the roof deck restaurant at The Anchorage by the Sea resort further down the Marginot Way. I would agree that if you get a seat next to the railing, MC has the best view in Ogunquit. The world itself might have 10 better restuarant views out there. You won't have a bad experience here if you sit on the roof deck. Just know you will be condescended a bit by the staff, rushed through lunch and be very underwhelmed by the pricey food. Someplace I'd take guests for the views if in Ogunquit ... But everything else is just sort of mediocre and overpriced. read more

The location is beautiful, views are amazing, parking is HORRIBLE. We went for lunch on a Sunday (off season in November) and could not find parking within 1 mile of the restaurant, after driving around for an hour. Luckily, it was a beautiful day and a lovely walk along Marginal Way, but we hadn't planned for that. We were rushing to make our reservation; we called the restaurant twice to explain we could not find parking...they had no suggestions, nor did they offer for us not to rush. When we arrived, there were plenty of tables. Menu was limited; I assume because it was off season. The bloody marys were delicious, the prosciutto appetizer, fried Haddock and chocolate flourless cake were all stupendous, but probably would not visit this restaurant again. read more

Middling at best. Way overpriced for the food so know you're paying for the spectacular location. I thought it was going to be fine dining and the room gives fine dining attitude but the food is mediocre from start to finish. I don't even know where to begin. I did tell them my pork chop was waaayy over cooked and dry and they offered to redo it. But I didn't want to wait, so that's on me, but I really expect a $38 pork chop to be juicy the first time. I know they need to pay the rent so I get the prices but it doesn't cost more to make the food delicious. Our server was great and the view is amazing so points for that. I had the braised beef which was tender and flavorful. My partner got the lobster mac and found the lobster to be plentiful. It was a bit on the small size upon viewing, but left her full and satisfied. We visited this restaurant last July. This is a really lovely restaurant with wonderful views. Make a reservation of course, as many restaurants downtown get super crowded during the summer. My family and I sat upstairs at a table with the windows facing the water. The restaurant is modern, cozy, romantic, inviting. The table setting was beautiful. We began our meal with bread and butter, delish, especially since we were starving. Not too many vegetarian options, but I suppose you could ask them to leave out the flesh. Food was beautifully presented on white plates. I enjoyed my avocado and romaine salad and tomato soup with croutons. It was comforting and soothing even during the hot summer. Service was great and welcoming. The A/C was cranked up too high, freezing us. Bring a jacket or sweater! Overall, a fancy, modern restaurant that isn't pretentious and serves good food. read more

I made reservations at MC's for Mother's Day with my wife. We hadn't been in quite awhile and the location is so nice I thought that it would be a good choice. We were seated at a cramped table when other more roomy tables were available. I requested one of those and they said OK. Overall the service throughout was fine. The problem is the food. My wife ordered a Blood Orange Mamosa which was small and she said was just OK. That was $13.50. I ordered a draught Pale Ale which was flat. They said that they would change the keg and bring another one but I opted for an IPA that was readily available. Unfortunately that was just OK as well. We ordered crab cakes as an appetizer and they were three but more like fritters than crab cakes. I couldn't find any crab meat in the fritters, uh cakes. i think they were $18. For entrees I ordered Fried Haddock and my wife ordered fish tacos. The fried Haddock was over cooked and could have been frozen but at any rate it wasn't good, $23. The fries were OK. My wife's tacos were actually pretty good but she said they wouldn't convince her to return. The cole slaw was awesome. Yay. The bill came to $114 with tip. Not bad but for that money the food should be good. MC's seems to be coasting on it's name but no one is minding the store. We'll be avoiding it for the near future. Not recommended! read more

The food is excellent, the views are stunning, and the service is impeccable. This was one of the best dining experiences we've had in years. The prices are also reasonable based on the quality of the food and ambience. I don't understand the recent negative reviews at all, but it does seem this isn't uncommon unfortunately (while we are the restaurant, we know of at least two tables that were rude to the waitstaff around us). If you want a tourist trap, this isn't the place, but if you're looking for an excellent restaurant in a beautiful setting, I highly recommend this. read more

Went there recently as I had a good experience previously. Wanted to sit outside upstairs at one of the tables at 4pm for a drink and a quick bite. There was one other customer in the whole restaurant which was otherwise empty. They said it's only for dinner which begins at 5pm and that we had to sit on a couch if we wanted to sit outside with a view of the railing. Left and went to another place. Every course as good as the last. Clementine Martini and beer excellent. Blueberry tart just terrific. We were greeted by one of the owners at our table as well as when we were leaving. Outstanding. This restaurant we've always heard mixed reviews, both about the food and their lack of kind service attitude, and after years of not going, we were given a gift certificate and decided to try it once again. Unfortunately, they remain unchanged. We stopped by early in the day to say we would like to do a curbside pick up (which they do offer on their website) and they said come back or call in between 5-5:30 and they would take care of it. We called at 5 and proceeded to get "disconnected" SIX times, no coincidence so we took a drive down, as it's five minutes away. When we got there a young woman named Irina told us that there was no certificate, that there had been a mix up. "No problem" I told her, we would still like to order (and spend hundreds of dollars of our own) and could we put in an order. She told me no. I told her that we were told we could put in an order between 5-5:30 and that it was 5:10 and what was the problem? She said she would talk to the manager, Javier. She cam back after ten minutes (all inside!) and angrily told me that he said "Fine- we could do a curbside pick up for two and what was our order?" As I started to order she said "And make sure you can pay for this!" That's when I asked for her name and her manager's. I don't want to go to a restaurant (which doesn't have great food reviews) just to throw money at them and they think they're doing me a favor. If you want to be treated like a joke, for a lot of money and mediocre food- then by all means treat yourself to the attitudes at MC Perkins. read more

We had an early reservation. On Sunday, September 24, 2023. Weve been coming to this area as a family and couple since 1994. This was our first dining experience at MC Perkins Cove! From the moment we were greeted we knew we'd made an epic choice. The view of the ocean was breathtakin! Not a bad seat in the place! Our hostess, busboys, servers were totally over the top amazing! our meals were melt in your mouth delicious! We began with crab filled croquette. These we're the best ever! We could actually see snd taste crab rather than stuffing. Our entree were equally fantastic. My husband had lobster macaroni and cheese! He's not a seafood fan or at least he wasn't! This dish was full of huge pieces of tender sweet lobster in a delicious creamy cheese sauce! My salmon was done to perfection with a slight crunch on the outside and perfectly seasoned tender salmon in every bite! We had no room for dessert! We'd mentionEd we were celebrating a birthday and I was surprised by a plate decorated with chocolate and strawberries and a candle! yhis was the finest dining experience we have had in Maine. I am leaving this review upon hearing of friends' experience at this restaurant . I put down a $60 deposit on May 6 for a party of 6 (including myself) to dine on June 2. My understanding was this deposit would be deducted from our dinner bill. On May 29 I tested positive for Covid and spent 3 days trying to contact the restaurant to adjust the reservation. The automated system consistently hung up on me. I let it go. Day of reservation, the remaining party of 4 had their dinner there. Food was "good". However, a dessert was ordered that one diner felt was not accurately described. The waiter said it would be taken off bill. Diner did not request this, it was offered. Soon thereafter a manager? Owner? Came by to interrogate my friend in regard to this. She was embarrassed and it colored the entire experience. This over a $12 dessert (and you are already up the $20 reservation deposit I was unable to adjust!) My deposit was not taken off the bill, nor have I received a credit for the 4 diners that showed up-this is now 4 days later. This restaurant used to be my go to when in Ogunquit but the mighty have fallen. I will not return nor will my 4 friends who dined there. I will spread the word. Shame on this business! read more

We had an amazing dinner here tonight! The view was absolutely perfect, and so was the food and service. Our server John was excellent and attentive. We got the seafood tower which was just delicious, the oysters were perfect (my fave). Our appetizers were delicious as well. Drinks and dessert (the coconut panda cotta, yum) were also delicious. July 2022. 6 people, total $554, not including tax or gratuity. Food: Starts: Seafood Grand Tower: plentiful, raw seafood. The shrimp was a little dry, however the oysters and clams were fresh and had a very nice, not too briny flavor. Lobster was sweet and fresh and very good. (Pro tip: ask for horseradish sauce and extra cocktail sauce for oysters/clams). Bread - very flavorful but cold. Butter was also cold and hard to spread on bread (causes clumping/bread to fall apart). First bread on the table is complimentary, the second is $5 - double the amount of bread and butter provided. Main entree - Swordfish (3/5): cooked medium, very well prepared. The red sauce was a little sweeter than we anticipated. It was a mix between marmalade and ketchup, a little different than the usual herbal fish mix. Not bad, however not enough variety of flavor. Will probably choose a different entree next time. Salmon (3/5)- perfectly cooked. However, no seasoning was on the salmon. The yellow pepper sauce is used as a plate garnished with a mix of a rice/hash brown and raisin garnish (the menu said blueberry, but the fruit on the plate was raisin). The salmon itself was not garnished or flavored and instead placed on top of the garnish itself. Pork chop (3/5). Well flavored but a little bit too dry. Steamed lobster (5/5): perfectly prepared. Both parties expressed the corn was also cooked perfectly. Wine - we ordered the Malbec Santa Julia 2 bottles. The waitress made an error and took our bottle away from us instead of placing it on the table, however when we asked for it, she apologized and brought it back to us immediately. Dessert: Blood Orange Flan - (4/5) flavorful/sweet and the pairing strawberry ice cream was even better than the flan itself. Blueberry lemon tartlet (3/5) the pastry was a little too dry. However the lemon curd, the vanilla bean ice cream and the blueberries made up for the pastry. Chocolate flourless truffle cake (4/5) delicious and rich flavor. The mocha ice cream pairs perfectly for the truffle cake and the marshmallow fluff on top was cooked perfectly. Service (4/5): The servers were very nice. There is a group of servers who serve the food, the waitresses who take the orders and the group that cleans the table prior to food being served. She was knowledgeable about the food, no long breaks between food/meals. The delivery of food was prompt. The only negative is that she took our wine bottle away by accident. Otherwise, service would be a 5/5. (We also asked for the AC to be turned down and the servers accommodated our request). Atmosphere (5/5): Beautiful Maine ocean views. It was a bit cold at first, but when asked to turn down the AC, they accommodated us promptly. It then was comfortable for the remainder of the dinner. There is a side deck area that overlooks the ocean. Parking may be challenging in the area. There is two hour parking right across from the restaurant if you're lucky enough to catch a spot. Then, there are two parking lots (one for $30 cash, and the other for $25, less than a 1/4 mile walk to the restaurant). Overall: Pleasant experience. Make a reservation!!! Food was great! Would order the lobster next time if visited again. Would also choose additional raw bar options. Would choose the flourless chocolate cake next time instead of the flan.
