I have to love Melanie our server and there's a couple of other services that are great to Efren the manager who I was working with was a lot of fun I had to have the club sandwich which can easily feed two people the turkey is so fresh and juicy that you swear you were slicing it right off the Thanksgiving day leftovers. We also had to have the beer better onion rings which are beyond delicious but I always add tartar sauce the outdoor seating is extremely comfortable they've gone way out of their way to make sure that you can watch TV listen to music and enjoy great food was fantastic service during such a difficult time... Lulu is an interesting place for eats. Diner style with ample portions and lots of variety. But maybe too much variety in that there isn't one real stand out dish(?) Folks are nice in there. Pretty standard. Not bad. Not great. Last time I was there I felt the pricing was a little high for what it , but prices are high everywhere, so what can you ? I like the patio area in the front and the first eating area with tvs. good to meet with friends after work catch a little game. there are some backroom areas suitable for a big group of friends or even a luncheon if you wanted to have your event there. Been around for ages catering to the Van Nuys airport crowd, and any other local people working in the area. You can tell the regulars have been coming here for a very long time. I always find the place to be a little cold when I'm there and tend to keep my jacket on but that's just me. Looking for diner food and you don't want to go to that other national chain place, try them out. read more

If you are in the mood for some homemade comfort food, this place will not disappoint. Especially if your craving some homestyle fried chicken (Not Popeye's or KFC) head on over for their "breasted" chicken, which is what they are known for. It is delicious!!!!! The sour dough bread and butter they serve is also amazing. The bread is super fresh and served warm with a very generous tub of butter. The food here is nothing special. For the portions you get of it, you'd think it's an amazing deal. It kind of was... until I actually ate the food. Maybe they're catering to people who lack tastebuds, or they think by making their food mediocre, they're likely to appeal to more people. I got the Garlic Herb Linguine, Potato Skins, and Mozzarella Sticks. The mozzarella sticks were so incredibly soft that you couldn't pick one up without it falling apart. I think a good mozzarella cheese pull is a good sign, this was excessive. Not sure if it's the cheese they use or how they fried it. The pasta was very bland (so was the chicken the added to it). I usually never like to add more salt and pepper to food I get from restaurants, but it was extremely necessary in this case. The potato skin boats were probably the best part, which may also be because it came paired with ranch. A little too greasy, but you should probably expect that from something with cheese, bacon, and the crispy (or burnt) cheese that was on the bottom of them. Almost forgot to mention that the complimentary garlic bread that came with the pasta was absolutely horrendous. read more

Oh Lulu's, I've been coming here forever! We recently used their back room for a family event and we were able to custom our own menu to share with our guests instead of offering the entire menu. They have a very large menu which can be overwhelming for some. Their broasted chicken is a must and one of their top selling items. I usually stick with that as their breakfast isn't my personal favorite thing in the entire world. I prefer their lunch and dinner options! The service is always good when I come here and they are friendly and helpful with giving suggestions on the menu. They have a large parking lot so parking is never an issue. read more

This is my go-to place to eat when I want a nice quiet dinner in a comfortable place that's local and economical. Hospitality always on point!! Nice family and neighborhood restaurant just off Roscoe and Balboa Blvd. They have nice booths and friendly staff. I believe it's a family owned restaurant. I've been coming here for several years and it's one of my favorite spots for breakfast/lunch/dinner in the SFV. The servers are terrific, the food is quality, of generous portions and delicious. This is applicable to salads, desserts or burgers; only a few items amongst the restaurants large menu .... One of my favs is the Brisket Sandwich- one tasty and flavorsome bbq item! This place is a ghost town and most closely resembles a converted Denny's. Furthermore, the food is what I like to refer to as "assembled". This means that none of the food is homemade or fresh from there. It is either fried from frozen or reheated. I have posted a pic so you may see. You see those "perfect" grill marks on the burger? Or the perfect flat edge? This is because it is from frozen. Unimaginative and assembled. To be honest, it wasn't terrible, but its not what you would expect for a $15 burger. Furthermore, the owner was very rude. When I was sitting in the bar he proudly declared that "this is a Chicago Bears" bar after I asked if he could put on another team's game. There was ONLY FOUR people in the bar area and at least 5 TV's. Instead he shuttled me to a back room where no one was, only to be served by a bitter old lady who appeared to hate her job. I really enjoy going to Lulu's. It's a really great place when you want something casual not too expensive big menu and American diner type food. They have really improved in my opinion over the past year. The service can be a hit or miss but don't let that stop you from going. Try their French onion soup, Cobb Salad, Fish and Chips, Fried Shrimp dinner and the Broasted Chicken it is so good. They will have something for anyone. read more

First time coming here and I really liked it!! I've always passed by and seen Lulus but never tried it. Well I'm glad we did. Silvia was our server and she was wonderfulll. Very caring and made me feel like I was talking to a friend. In general, the entire staff is so warm and welcoming. I felt like I was in a hallmark movie, stumbling into the small family owned restaurant. The inside of the restaurant was very cute as well. Designed with a bunch of airplanes and aviation themed. Let me just tell you all I've always tried to get help with food prep for holidays , and I finally after all these years found my "GO TOO" , the food was SCRUMPTIOUS!!!! The best ever, I almost gave it almost only 4 stars cuz they added corn instead of the traditional green bean casserole but after I called them up and they told me that's only because they ran out they added the corn I was a bit cranky, but everything else was so amazing. How could I give them less than five stars? They were seriously the most tasting I've ever had and that's including honeybaked ham. We will be for sure using them for Christmas. read more

My family has been going to Lulu's for over 40 years and they have yet to disappoint. The food we had delivered last night was no exception. The food was hot and fresh and delivered within a half hour of placing the order. Portions were large and and the same size as they have always been. Mom couldn't make a dent in the Lulu's sampler she ordered. Layer upon layer of Fried zucchini, onion rings, chicken tenders, buffalo wings, potato skins, and mozzarella sticks. All were cooked perfectly and tasted just as good for lunch today as they did last night. I had the chili-cheeseburger. It had a half pound beef patty smothered in delicious meaty chili garnished with a few onion rings and cheese toast. The side of fries was crispy and was a large portion as well. read more

If you can't tell how disgusting and soggy and frozen and slimey and undercooked the zucchini and mozzarella cheese sticks were.... thank GOD for you, because it was that bad! The wings were so spicy, and overcooked my son cried. The chicken tenders were shriveled up and the batter on everything seemed raw. Last but not least.... The turkey dinner.... Looks like it belongs at the shady pines nursing home with the Golden Girls. It definitely tastes like how a nursing home smells. The only thing they did right was add extra extra condiments, per requested. I'm so upset and expected more. The service was great. Kind, attentive... no complaints there. But the food?? I am sorry to say that it was the most disgusting meal I've had in a long, long time. I took it home and fed it to my dog. I am super disappointed because I checked the reviews before deciding to come and I was overwhelmingly let down. I ordered corn beef hash, 3 eggs, breakfast potatoes, with biscuits and gravy... and a coffee. The coffee was the only thing I could swallow without wanting to gag. in my opinion, it's pretty hard to ruin corned beef hash and biscuits and gravy.. and impossible to ruin eggs and potatoes. Went here last Sunday after a long walk at Balboa Park. We did not have to reserve and was seated as soon as we arrived. They have an outdoor seating and I remember bringing my pet dog here one time. Service was great and the food was really good! I highly recommend trying out the Corned Beef Hash and Egg because it's one of the tastiest meals we had during our visit. The serving is huge and make sure to ask for a box to go if you cannot finish it in one sitting. They're not lying when they called their Big Chocolate Cake big because the size of that slice was enough to fill me up until dinner. Highly recommend and will definitely come back. read more

It seems that Lulu's going down hill a little. The service is still friendly, even perky. But the food seems to be off. Abbe had breakfast: eggs and waffle and bacon, and she proclaimed it meh. I had my usual broasted chicken, and this time it was devoid of the juiciness I'd come to expect. Instead of fries, I ordered a double portion of roasted veggies, and they were atrociously undercooked. We'll have to think twice about returning to what used to be one of our favorite Valley joints. I have been coming her for years no problem. Decent food convenient location. Today I was served the gluten free pancake combo. The pancakes were spoiled and sour. The combo came with fruit 2 eggs and sausage. I told the waitress my pancakes were rotten. I assumed it would be taken off the bill. Not the case I was charged for two eggs because I broke the yoke on one and a side of fruit. The fruit I ate to get the rotten taste out of my mouth. I am shocked I was charged. I asked if the waitress if the manager knew my pancakes were rotten, she said yes. I argued I didn't eat the eggs but it's not worth the aggravation. We paid the bill and left. $3.50 for 2 eggs $3.99 for fruit. Waitress Morena C argued I ate the eggs. Terrible customer service in my opinion. read more
