My perfectly toasted patty melt. Yum!
Vida G.

Amazing experience dining at Zig's. Corina the server is so kind and attentive. The owner George is so friendly too. Love the vintage style of this diner. Great prices and my patty melt was amazing! Well have to come back!

This is how close I was to what I saw WHILE I WAS EATING!!!

I have eaten at Zigs for many years, as I live relatively close to them. I've never reviewed them before, and I would have given it 5 stars except for something that I saw the last time I went there. Before I get to that, here's my overall review: it is a diner - no more, no less. But it is a good diner and I happen to like diners. VERY intimate little spot and you know (usually) exactly what you will get there; good diner food and great and caring service from always sociable servers. They basically kill you with kindness. Here is what I saw the last time I visited. I posted a picture of the little diner so that on this particular occasion, you could see my point of view. I could not help but witness what happened. One of the wait staff (who I found out later was named "Precious") just strolled on over to that mirror, put her face very close to it and, as she looked at herself, began to... wait for it... pop her pimples - I kid you not! She was there, without exaggeration, for a good minute and a half, which, think about it, is quite a long time when you are doing something like that in public. I was in mid-chew, and I could not stop looking at her. It was hard to believe what my eyes were actually seeing. I am NOT trying to be mean here, but it was such an off-putting sight that I just had to write about it. It's a good thing I wasn't eating, say, vanilla pudding or some such thing when I witnessed this. I would have just lost it!

Steak and Eggs Breakfast

I can't believe this place on has 3.9 stars. Ok I get it, the outside doesn't look like much and looks closed but the quality of the food is great and it's flavorful ! And the prices can't be beat this is my new favorite spot :)

Redneck Benedict Breakfast

I kept passing this place and I decided to go in and is definitely one of my favorites spots. It's a small location but it comes with a lot of personality from the food, food to the staff. The prices and portions are awesome. The staff is super friendly and attentive. I ordered a breakfast burrito that was so yummy. The Redneck Benedict was so good it was by far my favorite. Will definitely come back and try other dishes. Highly recommend this pla

The drinks looked good but I decided to save some calories and just had a glass of water. For food I started with clam chowder. I'm thinking it was a special since it was on a piece of paper on the table. It came in a bread bowl...it had lots or clams, bacon and potatoes. It was delicious. It could have been a meal with a small salad. So for my entree I had the lobster Mac and cheese. It was good as a well. Ooey gooey and seasoned nicely. I was almost full from the chowder so only at about 1/3 of it but would definitely recommend. It was my first time coming here and I'd definitely return.

Honest review…read more.... Beer options - 5/10 They were aiming for local brews but honestly, not the best options. Food - 7/10 For pub food, it's not bad but not great. Service - 5/10 I'm not sure if they were just so understaffed or what was going on. Food took forever to come out & it seemed as if there was only 1 waiter for the entire restaurant. She also had an ugly attitude. Price - 2/10 Honestly for pub food, it's way too overpriced. You're paying West Hollywood prices in the valley, probably more. I hate that each sandwich/burger is $15+ à la carte. Ridiculous! Cocktails - 2/10 Ordered an old fashioned multiple times & each time it was too heavy on the bitters. Gross! Ambiance - 6/10 It's a cool dive bar feel but the TV sound could've been on for the ball game. OVERALL - 6/10 It's way too overpriced to even want to come back. The food is mid, and just not worth the price. The beer options also are not it. Cocktails aren't great either. Probably wouldn't come back.

I made our reservation off OpenTable. You can do valet parking or just look for street parking down the block or on Ventura. I chose the street parking. We arrived early but they were still able to sit us in their main dining area. Charlie was our server and we had a great experience with him. My wife couldn't decide between the calamari or ceviche di gamberi so she asked Charlie and he said get the ceviche. It was the best choice because it was delicious. My wife got the Chilean seabass for her meal and I got the 8oz hanger steak at medium rare. For the side my wife chose the seasonal vegetable. My wife got the virgin mojito drink which she loved. Our food took some time to come out so the ceviche helped while we were waiting. My wife loves her seabass and I thought my steak was over burnt on the outside. It also didn't have that much flavor so I had to ask for salt and black pepper. We ended our dining experience with a complimentary triple hazelnut chocolate cake from the restaurant since I put we were celebrating our anniversary on the reservation. My wife wants to come back in the future and sit in their garden area.

Since I booked this far in advance, I would hope to receive preferential seating especially due to the birthday. There was plenty of times to reserve tables when I had made them so I know this wasn't the issue. We usually do celebrations at 5 star steak house restaurants but wanted to try something different. This must be why many people do not find it this rating. Upon seating upstairs, theTerace area is quieter with fewer people. I don't know if I would sit there again since it seemed to take longer to find out waitress in general. Also, it wasn't intimate and ambience is just ok as table seating is directly next to each other. We ordered our drinks, Espessomartini, margarita, and flat water along with waygu meatballs and breadsticks to start. Food came out before the drinks, so service was a little bit behind, but the waitress tried her best. Of course I'd love for the busboy to clear plates prior to other meals coming out, but that should be reviewed with mgt. Our pastas arrived, Vodka and Wagyu and we enjoyed it. I wouldn't say food left an impression, but decent taste all around. I had to been scoping out this venue for my summer birthday party and asked a couple people about renting out private rooms. I didn't get much feedback. I wouldn't come back here because I dedicate early planning for experiences and ambience, hoping for a live band and better environment. The fact that they didn't honor this left a bad taste in my mouth & I would have the same high standards for my party. What a let down. Lastly, I found it odd that they brought out an ice cream dessert with a candle and charged us for it. If that was the case, wouldn't it be better if we had a choice of the flavor in this matter? This alone just brought down the star rating. So be sure to review your check. I give up!

This place became one of our fave places to eat in the Valley, from the first time we visited…read more Almost everything we had was above par ( we weren't fans of a rather bland salmon appetizer ). The famed lobster appetizer was not for us. Bits of lobster floating in a lot of butter didn't excite us. Excellent salads. The other appetizers however, were excellent. We've been twice now had had a lot of their menu. The pork was outstanding. The rack was very good, but I've had even better racks elsewhere. The "famous" banana cream pie was good, not great, but so huge and rich it must be shared. At $30, it's maybe also a tad overpriced. The bar makes a healthy-sized martini that's worth its high-end price tag. Great wine list with wonderful advice and good-sized sample pours, even though I only drink one glass and my husband doesn't drink at all. This is a good place to splurge on a good wine. I've mentioned the above-par service. Informative and cheery, without trying to become your best friend. They went out of their way to assure us a table in a very quiet spot, due to my deafness. Very attentive without being overbearing. Their suggestions seem honest, rather than just trying to upsell everything. The place is huge and gorgeous. Flatteringly, if dimly, lit, it lends itself to romantic dinners and anniversaries. In our case, we like to have a rather luxurious and romantic and lengthy meal perhaps once a month, and feel very fortunate to be able to do so. It's divided into several smallish areas and the effect is rather cozy and intimate. It's chic and stylish, so PLEASE folks, dress for it? It especially saddens me to see a nicely dressed young woman, who obviously spent some time on herself beforehand, with a guy ( I'll guess her husband ), in shorts and a tee shirt. I say, for a place like this, where you could easily spend four bills on a good meal for two, with drinks, management, bring back a dress policy! And enforce it with a reminder email they you do so. Is a collared shirt and a pressed pair of khakis too much to ask for?

Not a piece of bread or muffin was included. Please notice the dry @$$ pulled pork? and I got 4 pieces of a rib tip that was the same as 1 maybe 2 real tips ANYWHERE else.the tips were chopped into 2-4 pieces from one full tip. So I really feel cheated and I was frigging hungry -hungry. The pork was dry and couldn't be swallowed without the bbq sauce and drink. She ordered a hot link with ribs and added a side of ribs for an additional $24. The sides came in a small container I had Mac n cheese and greens which every bite I was like wish I had cornbread to add to these greens. While she had greens and the sweet potato (which by the way was the best thing they had going on) the Mac was average I'm about to reheat and toast again before I hit send for this review. Reheated the side of ribs, greens and Mac and it's a bit better than the pulled pork, but this definitely isn't a bbq spot I'd advise anyone to go to nor would I dare try without bbq sauce and a lot of it. Dessert banana pudding last time I was here the desserts were pretty good. This tasted like the yoplait whips yogurts consistency and like knock of Nila wafers I was just sooo utterly disappointed.
