Firehouse Greek is hands down some of the best Greek food around. We've dined in several times and also order from them regularly on delivery apps, and the quality is always consistent. I usually get the chicken gyro wrap--it's big, loaded, and super filling. The fries are always crispy and delicious, and their tzatziki is so fresh and flavorful. Today my husband tried the beef lulu sandwich for the first time, and he said it was really good. The portions are generous, the food is well-seasoned, and everything tastes authentic. The service is great too--friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. Plus, there's free parking in the back, which is always a bonus. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the Valley. This was my favorite place for over 6 years. Because of inflation they not only increased the prices but they also forgot to cook the most basic Greek gyros! Let's start with the fact that reduced the portions of their Greek salad (significantly!). But I can forgive that. What I can't forgive is how when I ordered Beef and Lamb Gyro plate, they completely neglected putting grilled onions and tomatoes under the meat!! One of my favorite spots if not THE favorite for Greek food in the West Valley. Totally unassuming from the outside, packed with goodness on the inside. I always order takeout from here when I am trying to impress friends with Valley eats. They have some tables inside if you choose to dine in but it's tiny. I love their gyro salad and their avgolemono soup. Their dips are fantastic and great for sharing. Amazing grape leaves and baklava. Their plates are big and filling, so in my opinion worth the price for how much you are getting. Finally a place I like with this kind of food! Although, I didn't get a gyro, I got their Chicken Lemonado plate and it was DIVINE. My bf loves his gyros and I'm not crazy about it so it's always tough trying to find something on the menu that I will eat lol. Parking is small, it's in the alley way and basically all full when we got there for lunch on Saturday but luckily got a spot. They have a back entrance from the parking lot which is convenient. The staff are friendly and it's a small restaurant but good amount of tables and seating. They have two windows and it was a little confusing to know which to order from but the worker finally called us over from one of them. The Chicken Lemonado is amazing. Perfection. The chicken is not dry at all (something I'm always worried about) and it has so much flavor! If you like lemon chicken, this is the plate for you. Already itching to come back! Tiropita is one of my favorite things to eat but the way this is spiced makes it nearly inedible. Maybe WAY too much nutmeg? It was literally red inside. Really good gyro wraps! We stopped by for dinner and placed an order to go. They have tons of dishes on their menu - everything from gyro sandwiches to platters to salads. If you get the meal as a combo, it comes with fries and a drink. I went with a mixed beef, lamb and chicken gyro wrap. Instead of tzatziki, I got it with hummus since I can't have dairy. After our trip to Greece, my friends and I were craving tzatziki. This place hit the spot, but there's still no tzatziki like tzatziki in Greece. The salad just came out and it was freshly cut! I am not into tomatoes but they were so fresh! The salad was not wilted, and with every bite it was crunchy, fresh, delicious goodness. It's so fresh, I felt compelled to write a review on how good the salad was, and how this salad is always the introduction to a great meal here at Firehouse. I always get the chicken souvlaki plate with fries. The chicken is hot, juicy, tender, and flavorful. The fries and rice are so good, I'm always torn between the two sides. I could eat here everyday but it would be hard to not get any of the delicious carbs like: the fresh, hot, fluffy pita, or the light, airy, and buttery rice, or crispy seasoned fries. This place is located in Reseda, California, on the corner of Reseda Boulevard and Victory Boulevard, right next to Starbucks. I've been coming here for many years since it's down the street from where I work, and I've always really enjoyed the food except that it tends to give me a bit of heartburn. They've always been known for offering good value, quality, and quantity for as long as I can remember. I used to come here and get the chicken gyro sandwich, and it was always packed with so much meat that it would fall out as you were eating it. Yesterday, my wife and I decided to order chicken gyro sandwiches one for each of us and let me tell you, it was nothing to write home about. The sandwiches were pretty empty, with way more onions than chicken. I could literally taste the onions more than the chicken gyro. The chicken wasn't seasoned properly, and it felt like whoever prepared the sandwiches had been told to cut back on the meat. Meanwhile, the price has gone up over the years. I remember when it was around nine dollars, and they'd really load up the sandwich with chicken. That's definitely not the case anymore. I don't know if this issue is just with the chicken gyro or if it applies to their other menu items too. I also don't ever recall seeing this place busy every time I stop by, there's rarely more than one person eating inside. I guess most people just order takeout. The ambience is what you'd expect from a Mediterranean restaurant that serves Middle Eastern food. Either way, I'm not really impressed with this place anymore and probably won't be coming back. The economy is clearly taking a toll on portion sizes at most restaurants you can see it everywhere they charge more and give you less. This place is a perfect example of that. Blink and you'll miss it...no wait, you can't miss it. There's a giant mural of Brody Stevens (RIP) on the side of building. Before they honored the late, brilliant comedian, Firehouse Taverna was actually pretty easy to miss. That corner of Victory and Reseda was pretty quiet for many years...just a red light most people got stuck at on their commute. Now it's bustling thanks to a McDonalds and a drive-thru Starbucks, but the anchor has always been Firehouse Taverna. For years I drove past it and thinking, "I wonder if that place is any good?" Finally, my girlfriend revealed it's one of her all time favorite restaurants and I got to experience why. The outside is a lovely brick building. There's a couple parking spaces in the back, but that's about it...parking can be difficult in this neighborhood so be prepared if it's busy. When you walk in there's a lot of wood inside...the floors...the tables...the paneling around the windows. It feels very nice and from a different place. You get a nice view of the park and people driving down Victory boulevard, but it feels like you should be looking out onto the Mediterranean or fields of olive trees in the Greek countryside. Until they can outfit the windows with 8K screens, the food does an amazing job transporting you there. If you like greek salads, get theirs. I don't know what it is, but a simple salad is worth the journey. Big hunks of fresh tomatoes...crumbled up feta...slices of cucumbers...red onions...all topped on freshly cut lettuce with a couple kalamata olives and a generous drizzling of their house made dressing. The perfect balance of freshness, savory and salty and unctuous in every bite. I'm not the biggest fan of tzatziki, but I will gladly take a dip in theirs any day. It's so creamy and light. Again, it's full of flavor. You get all the notes of dill and thyme. You can see speckles of mint and parsley. The freshness of the cucumber shines through. It goes well with just about everything on the menu...from dipping their delicious, fluffy but crispy pita into it or slathering it onto a gyro. Again, another thing I'm not the biggest fan of is a gyro...this shaved meatball sandwich just tends to be something that's mediocre at a lot of places and even when done well, I'd rather get a kebab sandwich instead. Here though, it's excellent. Yeah, it's still shaved up meatballs...but you get a nice char on the outside of the meat that gives it a really nice texture and bite. Again, the pita is really good and the entire thing is doused in that delicious tzatziki. It's also way too big to eat in one sitting unless you're that hungry so it's good value for money. With a side of fries, it's a good way to spend an afternoon. I don't recommend getting this one to go though...maybe ask for the tzatziki on the side if you do. Just know that if you get it fresh, the pita will be nice and crispy...taken to go, it'll probably get a bit soft...maybe soggy...but it's still probably good. If gyros aren't your thing then their plates are good too. Their rice is soft and tender and goes well with just about anything you get with it. It's that classic yellow tint familiar with Mediterranean food. Again, it's a big plate of food so you get your money's worth. However, if there's one knock against this place is that the prices are a little expensive...as are all things now I guess. On the one hand, it's a bit much to pay 23 bucks for a mixed kebab plate...but on the other hand, you're getting a very good quality meal for that price and you're helping out a local, small business vs a chain restaurant that might serve that meal for less, but also not as good. Overall though, this is another hidden gem in the valley. It's the kind of restaurant you'd expect to see on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives. A local restaurant that's been there for years, cooking up recipes from an old world. read more
