I've been to Lulu's a bunch of times over the years because my sister lived right down the street. I figured I should finally write a review after my most recent time there. The huge private parking lot is something I'm not used to here in the Los Feliz area. It's nice not having to worry if your meter will expire before you finish eating. I've only been here for lunch and I always order the same thing. The turkey supreme sandwich has my name written all over it. They use real turkey (not deli slices) and real avocados. Along with the fresh lettuce and tomato, it adds up to a great sandwich. This last time I was here I got a side of fruit to go with my sandwich (choice between fruit, fries, slaw, or onion rings). The fruit didn't really look that fresh, and after eating a couple slices of melon it turns out I was right. I guess that's what I get for trying to eat healthy. On the weekend Lulu's offers $0.99 mimosas and bloody Mary's. The mimosas come in small water glasses instead of pansy champagne glasses. Just be sure to have a DD with you. If you find yourself deep in the valley (by accident or on purpose), Lulu's is a nice, quiet diner with friendly staff and huge portions of cheap food. If you're looking for high end food, skip Lulu's completely. If you're stuck on the 405 and in dire need of some calories, Lulu's is just right. read more

I just moved down here from Seattle and I went here to eat for the first time the other day. The service was fine and the waitress was friendly but the food was just plain lousy: the coffee was mediocre (sorry but we take our coffee seriously where I come from). The ham and hash browns tasted really off. Like they had just reached the point of starting to spoil. And the "fresh fruit" was just plain disgusting (maybe it was fresh a week ago, but what I was served was gross). But here's the kicker: I might have stuck around and had them redo the breakfast but after seeing and hearing an incident between an employee and the manager (owner?) I just lost my appetite. I have no idea what the employee might have said to deserve what happened but his boss started screaming at him in front of the entire restaurant and his co-workers about how he had a bad heart and he was dying and that the employee he was yelling at was responsible for this! The he yelled something along the lines of "You're fired" and took the completely confused looking employee into the back where the yelling continued! Throw a few f-bombs that I do not think Yelp would allow me to quote into the above and you get the idea I could not make something like this up. What kind of person would say something like that on another person? No employee deserves to be spoken to that way and for the manager to have done so in front of other people (customers and coworkers) is to me the single most unprofessional incident I have ever witnessed in a working enviroment. I am certain that the food had helped me lose my appetite but after seeing this I did not want to spend another moment in this place. I paid my bill and left. I will never be coming back. read more

I have been a Lulus regular at least twice a week for over 12 years. It's been my favorite neighborhood dining spot. I have even developed a rapport with the employees. Unfortunately, I decided to stop dining at Lulus about 8 months ago. I frequent the bar area so I could watch sports and I finally grew tired of the lack of table service. I'm a very patient person and even more so since I know Mike the owner and the servers but I finally decided that I refuse to sit at a table in a bar area for over 15 minutes without any kind of server acknowledgement. The final straw was when the waitress stopped by after 10 minutes, handed me a menu, and never came back. I get better service and jack-in-the-box. The server assigned to my section that day has been at Lulus for years and it seemed that it took forever for her to tend to the customers in the bar area. I was very patient since I have been a regular at Lulus but I finally decided that I grew tired of the neglect of service in the bar area. The sad thing is that my waitress, who has been at Lulus for years, tends to make me feel like I'm an afterthought every time I dine there. In my opinion, she doesn't understand the true meaning of customer service and loyalty. If you can't commit dedicated service to the bar area on weekend mornings/afternoons, please don't bother to sit anyone in the bar area if the service sucks so bad!! I grew tired of dining there with the feeling that I was a burden to the servers because I chose to sit in the bar area. Sorry Mike...I'm taking my business elsewhere until you train the servers how to treat customers in the bar area as regular customers and not leftovers. PS - I have always tipped nicely so I have a reason to be even more disappointed. read more

I ordered their Thanksgiving take-out special for our office. It came with 5 pounds of turkey breast, 4 pounds of buttered stuffing, 4 pounds of garlic mashed potatoes, 2 1/2 pounds of turkey gravy, 1 pound of cranberry sauce, 2 pounds of buttered green beans, a pumpkin pie and an apple pie. And it was delivered to our office! The food was warm and delicious. The mashed potatoes were the bomb! Debi, the catering manager, and MIke, the owner, wee both so helpful and accommodating. We were very pleased with our humble banquet at work. I've also had breakfast at Lulu's a few times. The servers are always very friendly, and with such a happy attitude. That alone for me deserves five stars. read more

I've leaved in the valley my entire 62 years and have never need to Lulu's. I went there today with a friend and we were both happy surprised how good it was. The interior could you an upgrade but the food and service were great. I got the spinach chicken salad and my friend got the Italian chopped salad. Both salads were huge and very delicious. I love this place. I never been here physically but I order my breakfast from here via Eat24 and love it!!!! I order here on Saturday or Sunday when I don't want to get out of bed. Delivery is pretty fast assuming they get busy on the weekend. The food tastes home cooked and hits the spot! Food and coffee always arrives still nice and warm, and to me that's important for breakfast. I hate cold eggs and cold breakfast overall!!!! Love Lulus Ps. Their turkey sausage patties r to die for. I really enjoyed my lunch here. I had their spinach salad with grilled chicken and it was delicious. The spinach was incredibly fresh, the balsamic dressing delicious and the chicken was tender. Under new management, the place is coming back. From remodeled bathrooms, to new coffee machines, new furniture and cleaned up patio, and the menu is revamped. Plans are in place for new carpet, paint, and decor. The only sad point? No more cobbler...but the chocolate chip cookie sundae is still yummy. Another place near my office, where we occasionally order for meetings. The food is well prepared but it doesn't stand out to me as anything special. I occasionally eat here because its close to the office and convenient, but I would not make it a destination for dinner. I assume it's a family owned restaurant and I like that. Would easily eat here over a chain, but with so many interesting, intriguing destinations within Los Angeles to eat I wouldn't make a special trip to Lulu's Restaurant. read more

Not what I expected at all. My wife ordered dinner from here via grub hub last night. I wasn't too hungry to begin with but the food looked pretty good. We ordered the burger and the sampler. I could not stop eating! While fried food is fried food, it wasn't over battered or breaded. The dam chicken breast strips were some of the best I've ever tasted. What a meal! Started nice with some good sourdough bread and butter. Had a full slab of baby back ribs with mashed potatoes and Cole slaw. Service was friendly and portions were generous. The ribs were tasty and very tender. The prices were reasonable and my ice tea never got empty. Would have given 5 stars but my friends Carne Asada plate was not traditional ranchera beef but a thin cut that was so dried out it ended up in a doggy bag for the dog at home. It is what it is. Sort of a Millies/Denny's/etc... Came here for breakfast just because...and it is near Home Depot, so I could do some shopping afterward. Service was pretty good. A little delay getting the check, but otherwise friendly and pleasant. The chorizo omelette was meh. Lots of chorizo and spicy, but the cheese on top added no flavor and so it was very one note. Plus the chorizo was rather grainy and bit rubbery. The hash browns were so-so. The pigs in a blanket were okay. The pancakes also a bit rubbery and tough. Nothing special. Nothing fancy. And the pigs come with no sides. Would I come here again? Probably...if I just wanted to eat food. And sometimes that's all you want. Don't want to wait outside some fancy eatery? Want plenty of parking? Don't want to drive or wait at Millies/Dennys...come here. read more

Monday night (November 15) my men & I walked into Lulu's restaurant, we requested from the bartender (tall, blonde , older women) a table for five people. She very rudely told us "No! I don't have space for five" & so I said "okay, do you have any tables you could put together for us" & again she said "No!" & shooed us away to the dining room. This women's name was something along the name Katy. My men & I then went along to find ourselves a table in the dining room, our dining room waitress (Red short hair, Hispanic lady) & the manager became aware of the situation, & GLADY seated us in the bar (meaning definitely there was space). The waitress that served us did great, but the bartender was giving us death glares all night long, she made us feel real uncomfortable and discriminated. If it were not for the the bartender I would recommend this place because the food was good and the service from our waitress was wonderful & nothing but great attitude from her. read more

Yes I know, eating out too much right? Well don't worry about me because I'll just workout more! Lulu's is a Valley landmark and a regular hangout for many in the area. This was my first time back in about 20 years? The service is great with seasoned employees that seem to know all the customers. The place shows its age but that's not a bad thing. The food and prompt service is adequate for the price. If you like the established spots and don't need to eat at the trendy, overpriced spots, then give them a try. If you like ranch dressing, don't eat here. If you ask for "ranch" dressing they will bring you a mixture of blue cheese and ranch, and they may or may not admit that they just gave you this mixture. (Which is identical to blue cheese dressing.) I made three tries to get ranch dressing and three times they handed over this "house" dressing without mentioning that it contained blue cheese. After I pressed them, they admitted to not actually carrying ranch dressing, despite having three times agreed to supply it in the last 15 minutes. They turned out to have a low-fat ranch dressing which, of course turned out to be vile. Some people are allergic to blue cheese, so it's disrespectful and irresponsible to accept an order for ranch dressing when your restaurant does not serve ranch dressing. read more

This place is ahhhmazing!! Never been, it's sadly tucked in a corner that's just not super busy. I finally went after hearing good things, and they were all right! First, the service was great. The waitress was extremely nice and considerate, service you just don't get all too often. Secondly, I'm a vegetarian so some places are harder to find options, but I got the avocado burger with a black bean patty and they nailed it! Veggie options aren't always done right so when they are I'm immediately impressed. My friend had the strawberry pancakes which resembled nothing but impeccable food porn. I've been here a few times, and it's usually nothing special, but lately it has been a little bit more lacking. Both hosts and servers have practically leaned on me to reach across the table to hand someone a menu or refill their drink, guest drinks have gone empty for too long, and sometimes items were completely forgotten from the order. I live a few blocks away from this place and haven't visited the place before since I've moved here. I figured it was time to give it a chance. I was expecting the place to be a simple diner, much like Norms or Denny's. I was in for a bit of a surprise. While the outside looks like a cheap diner, the menu speaks otherwise. They had a surprising number of semi-high quality choices, although the price reflected this. The food was very well made and very tasty. The service was great as well. The waitress came around to ask if we needed anything often, but wasn't obtrusive. She was also very friendly and we never had to flag her down. Now, for the downside... The place seemed a bit understaffed. When I came in with my family, there was no one at the counter and took a while before someone came to seat us. The two people in front of us actually left because no one was around. In short, the food taste good and the service is pretty nice once you get seated, but you may have to wait a while before someone notices that you came in. Also a small tip, the price here isn't cheap. Don't expect prices like Denny's. read more

Before Covid 19 my friends and I ate at Lulus once or twice a week. I went to honor them by placing a to-go order and the owner, a waitress, and a cook were there. All three were not covering their noses with their masks. I brought it to the owner's attention and he said his nose was too small to cover it. The waitress and the cook did nothing to change. I am not going to take a chance getting the virus from people who do not pay attention to the severity of this illness. read more

It is consistently good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff is always friendly (in a sincere way) and attentive which I really appreciate. Spinach omelet was heavy on the spinach and less on the egg and served cold. Biscuits and gravy were OK. Food was nothing to brag about. As for my son's chicken and waffle, he somewhat enjoyed the waffle, not so much for the fried chicken. (That was the deal breaker considering my kid is 13 and loves anything that is deep fried) I didn't hate the food and I didn't like it either. Customer service was OK. I'll start with a caveat, I've only ordered delivery while working late just down the street (twice). But Boy, was it delicious! OMG, the steak was perfectly cooked, the grilled veggies done perfectly, and the mashed potatoes... To die for! I kinda want to take a 1/2 star off for seeds left in the grilled bell pepper, but considering the harsh criticism of some previous reviewers, I'll let that slide. Seriously, the meal was excellent, the delivery super fast, the food piping hot. They even gave me a 1/2 loaf of bread with real whipped butter! I'm getting hungry all over again! My family decided to get a pre-made Thanksgiving dinner this year and put our traditions of cooking and chaos into retirement. We've done it before with a big chain restaurant and while the meal was great, the black-Friday like atmosphere of waiting in a line for over an hour to pick up was discouraging.   Lulu's proved an amazing upgrade for us.  The food was great! Well prepared and with excellent proportions.  Granted we were only feeding three instead of the advertised 14, we have plenty of leftovers and our stretchy-pants got a great workout. What made the experience a real winner for us was ease and efficiency.   We ordered 2 weeks in advance, but could have waited until the day before.  There was plenty of parking and no waiting. I was told I could pick up my dinner at 3 pm, and when I got there at 3:05 it was ready for me.  The cashier was friendly, quickly showed me all of my items were there and even helped me carry it to the car.  I was on the road with my dinner by 3:10.   And this was all on the day before Thanksgiving! If there is a Lulu's near you, I highly recommend them for a holiday dinner to take home. This was done the way it should always be done.  My wife and I will never cook another holiday dinner again. read more

You will see bikers, cops, your neighbors....EVERYONE LOL I believe Wed or Thurs is karaoke, so come before the MADNESS begins otherwise you will be bombarded with bikers and old rock tunes FULL BASS!!!!!!! Another little restaurant with the old vintage 40's cafe ambiance. Almost like you stepped in a movie set(well at least almost) I recommend the shrimp tacos as well as the shrimp avocado salad and Philly cheese steak.
