Szechuan Spicy Fried Chicken
Carmen L.

This is one of our usual dinner spot. The spicy chicken is our fav and after trying from many places, this place still has the best chicken. My daughter loves their steam fish with tofu and I like their fried green bean but today we tried another veggie but it wasn't as good. The server is always friendly and attentive.

Spicy Beef and tendon appetizer

We came in around 6:30 pm on a Tuesday. We were the only customers. The food was mediocre. I was quite disappointed. The green onion pancake had absolutely no taste , no flavor. The spicy boiled fish was just okay. The only flavor it had was just "spicy" . The Chongqing chicken wings were very expensive for the small portion size . It also felt like it was missing some ingredients. The beef and tendon was the worst dish of them all. It had no spicy, umami flavor it's supposed to have. We were quickly seated because we were the only customers but she never came back to check on us. She continued to chat with her co-worker the whole time we were eating. Empty plates were taken away only at the end of the meal when we asked for the check. Will definitely not be coming back.

Hot and sour soup

Closing the year with something spicy for lunch. Lulu's offer a nice lunch menu with a variety of choices. My go to lunch here is their Szechuan spicy fried chicken wings with bones. So it was the case. A complimentary bowl of hot and sour soup is provided. Another favorite dish here. The chicken came out hot and crispy. The skin is crispy and meat is juicy. Unfortunate for wings, not enough of a good thing. With each bite, a taste of Szechuan pepper and red chili, nice. Service is friendly and efficient.

Chef's Special Hot and Sour Soup - excellent

Excellent meal at LuLu's Kitchen ~ Their food is GOOD! Located at the strip mall at Amador Valley x Village Parkway with plenty of parking, the restaurant is clean and seating is comfortable. Upon entering, we were greeted by their friendly staff and proceeded to order a few dishes. Everything tasted excellent and full of balanced flavor and spiciness. Flavors are on point! ;) My favorites: * Hot n Spur soup -- excellent * Fish gluten ball with veggies in clay pot -- simple, mild flavored and tasty! * Stir fry string beans & eggplant -- very good * House special fried chow mein -- eat it while the noodles are crispy! so good! Overall an excellent meal... Thank You and we'll be back soon!

We were fans of Lulu in Concord until it shuttered its doors a few years ago. It's good to find similar food in Dublin. Tofu fish was spicy as always, beautifully presented on its large plate. Pork rib chef special sauce had very unique flavor with small soft ribs superbly fried to golden embedded between green beans. Wish there were some more ribs. The owner/head waitress was distracted: chatting loudly on her cell phone and seemed to have a slightly brusque disposition. Food **** Service ***

We came back again today, just because it's been a while since our last time dining here. Lulu's used to be very busy for lunch, but it's not like that today. Time has definitely changed. There are so many options to eat now in the Trivalley area, but Lulu still have that schezhuan flavors that's we all crave for once in a while. Its unique flavors is hard to compare to other restaurants. Always satisfying that you'll want to keep coming back for more.

Ordered takeout but the portions look a lot smaller than if you were to dine in. My recommendation would be to dine in and take leftovers home to maximize efficiency and cost. Other than that it's tasty Chinese food, not overpowering or greasy from what I see.

Lulu's is an under appreciated gem for Hunan cuisine. The dishes here are well-executed, with authentic flavors, and generously portioned. The comprehensive menu showcases the chef's breath and talents. If Lulu's is close to where I live I would be coming here often.

Beef Stew Noodle Soup ($20 including tax & 20% tip) enough left overs to take home & very yummy
Alyssa A.

1 word- Flavor They weren't rated that well but the place was busy. Glad I checked it out. Servers were nice & attentive, food came out fast. Portions were HUGE and fairly priced (I have left overs & paid $20 including tax & 20% tip). Ambiance is a little nicer than a hole in the wall but you still kinda get that feel Spicy beef noodle was generous with tender meat and noodles. Broth was flavorful, spicy & garlicky.

Delicious food. Good service. Group of four had a nice lunch and they happily accommodated our various spice tolerances.

Mushroom was crisp and flavored in abalone sauce . Overall experience 5/5 . Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, my recent visit was incredibly disappointing. The food quality has gone downhill, the prices have become excessive, and what bothered me most was feeling misled by the billing. A cucumber special was advertised at $5.95, but when the bill arrived, the charge was $14.90. On top of that, an automatic gratuity was added to a table of only three people with one of them being 4 year old. She barely even ate with tea price per person. I don't mind paying premium prices for great food and service, but I do expect transparency. Many of the dim sum items also felt extremely overpriced, $9 for two egg tarts is hard to justify and sadly they weren't worth that. Felt like it was not fresh. It's unfortunate because this used to be a place I genuinely looked forward to visiting. Sadly, I don't see myself returning anytime soon.

The staff was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. Every dish was flavorful and well-prepared. The standouts for me were the crispy salt-and-pepper squid, perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice, and the roasted duck with its crispy skin and juicy, tender meat. The pan-fried dumplings had a wonderful texture with a flavorful filling, while the bean curd rolls were packed with savory goodness. The siu mai were plump, fresh, and exactly what you'd hope for from a quality dim sum restaurant. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere exceeded expectations. When I brought it up and even pointed out the worker, the staff claimed they had no idea what I was talking about. At that point, I just let it go but honestly, it didn't get any better from there. Every dish we ordered was bland, lacked flavor, and wasn't consistent at all. To make matters worse, I noticed something concerning near the cashier. They were refilling the water jug using what looked like a used plastic container that didn't appear clean or sanitary, which was really off-putting. Overall, this experience was disappointing from start to finish, both in terms of service and food quality.

The dim sum lunch was authentic HK Cantonese teahouse style and it was a terrific place to meet old friends for loud laughs and conversations. The staff was on point periodically swinging by to subtly assisting us with needs and emptied plates. I understand that this particular restaurant has been open for several years now but I did not realize their chain of restaurants have been for almost 20 years! That's quite a feat in my view. Because of my excitement with catching up with my friends, I did not take much pictures of the food or setting but to affirm, the food was delicious and the tea was smooth, fresh; the eatery was nicely decorated and spacious too. Don't know if my non-Chinese friends understand this, BUT YOU CAN ask for various, different kinds of teas and their combination. Yes, multiple pots too. The dim sum is obviously the center piece but the tea "yum chai" is equally the star in my opinion to complement the foods. I recommend a lighter tea for lite drinkers like Chrysanthemum tea ie flower steeped, no caffeine and floral. However, if you want a bold tea try "Bo lay" black tea for lightly sipping when eating lots and lots of heavy food. Pro-tip: For tea adventurers, try a fusion teapot (e.g. Chrysanthemum + Bo lay), combo tea flavors is different and neat when i crave for a different drink. I'll be back for sure. Hope you do too!

Almost no spots open besides one that was too small for other cars but luckily we fit. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Not the cleanest or tidiest of restaurants but usually those are the ones where you know the food is what brings people in regardless. We signed in on a paper sheet and were called to be seated shortly after. After ordering, the food came out very quickly - we almost didn't have enough space on the table! - FOOD - BBQ Pork & Dry Shrimp ($10.25): I'm used to the BBQ Pork being more chopped up, but they keep the pieces here bigger. I think I like BBQ Pork and Dry Shrimp separate more. Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll ($9.00): One of the classics, and will always be my number one pick! I prefer my rice rolls to not have lettuce in them though. Dough Stick Rice Noodle Roll ($7.95): I thought that the dough stick could have been fresher, it was a bit stale by the time we ate it. Pork and Gold Preserved Egg Congee ($7.50): Really well flavored, and good amount of pork and egg. The consistency is thicker than I'm used to but it's still good. Shrimp Wonton Soup ($11.75): Nice clean broth, and the wontons were nicely seasoned. I do wish there was more soup. Shrimp Dumplings ($7.25): We just wanted to try these, and honestly they were just OK. Skin fell apart pretty easily but the shrimp was big. Fried Sesame Balls ($6.00): Also just OK. I picked it for a family lunch after going to the Livermore outlets. The decor and ambience is typical but relatively nice. We ordered a bunch of Shanghainese classics: Soy milk 4/5 - if you order multiple servings it comes in a large bowl meant for sharing. Can order cold or hot with sugar on the side. Xiao long bao 4.5/5 - I'm pretty picky about xlb and I am partial to the Shanghainese style (vs Taiwanese style you get at DTF and other places) and this was surprisingly good. Before this, my fav in the bay area was I-Shanghai Delight and honestly I think this might rival it. Filling and soup were both savory and light and incredibly umami. Maybe the wrapper at I-Shanghai is a bit thinner but honestly not a huge difference to me. Would def recommend if you like this style. Braised minced eel 5/5 - OMG this was the highlight of the meal for me, and I think only ppl who like this eel dish would understand. I honestly have not found good Shanghainese stir fried eel anywhere else in the Bay area. Chef Zhao's version was good once upon a time but then the most recent time we went, it tasted weird and not fresh. I-Shanghai Delight's was also no good (not fresh). This is the one dish that I will keep coming back here for. Razor clams with ginger and scallion 5/5 - This was also a crowd fav. I don't love clams usually but these were big and meaty and tender, and the sauce is what you would expect. Highly recommend Stewed yellow croaker soup with pickles 3/5 - This was ok and could've been better. Flavor of the soup was good but I think the fish tasted a bit overcooked/dry and could've been more tender. Shredded pork with wild rice shoot 4/5 - This was fine and a very traditional Chinese dish. Nicely done but nothing amazing. Red bean pancake 4/5 - This was a good dish, just not what I expected. I like the red bean pancakes where the pancake part is more doughy while this was like VERY crispy. But the flavor was good Lastly, the lady who took care of our table was SO nice and so chatty and so patient, despite the usual chaos and indecision of large family gatherings. She also packed up all the food for us and even gave suggestions for surrounding Chinese supermarkets.
