So much better than the Genius Bar or other Apple-authorized repair shops downtown!! These guys really saved my New Year's. I am a DJ and had a big New Year's Eve gig, but that morning I had stupidly spilled cleaning fluid on the keyboard of my Macbook Pro, causing it to short out to the point that all keys, including the power button, stopped working.  Desperate, I rushed down to the Genius Bar at the Apple store, where after waiting for a couple of hours, I was told that they would need to send away my laptop for 10 days to have it analyzed, and it would cost between $350 - $750 to repair, depending on the damage.  Obviously, this wouldn't work so I left and went to an Apple-authorized repair shop one block away on Market, where I was told I could get it back in a few working days, if I paid a rush fee, and in total it would cost around $500.  At this point, I was starting to succumb to the realization that there was no way I would be able to use my laptop to perform that night and began to quietly freak out, until my gf suggested I try one more place that she had found on Yelp, this of course being Love Haight Computers. After entering and briefly describing my issue to Azam, I was assured that he understood the issue and that he would have it resolved in an hour for less than half the price I had been quoted earlier in the morning. I had to make him repeat that several times because I had thought that best case, I might get it by the close of business, if I paid an exorbitant rush fee.  But no, Azam and his crew had my laptop back to me in less than 90 minutes and came through with an amazing price, waiving several typical fees and only asking that I tell other DJs that I knew about their service.  Honestly, one of the most surprisingly positive customer service experiences I have ever had. Azam and Oliver rule! I gave these guys a call when I was looking to upgrade my 2006 model MacBook and recover a hard drive that wasn't mounting properly. Sadly, the hard drive was shot, but they hooked it up with a new hard drive for my MacBook and upgraded my RAM for a thrifty $300. Not only that, the turnover was crazy fast... under 24 hours! Sold me an Apple 1 charger today with the wire chewed up on two places that does not work. My fault for not testing it before I left the store, however I don't think they care that they are passing poor product off to their customers. About two years ago, got a 2012 pro from them. They had not uninstalled the original user's OS, just created a Love Haight user profile in the old user's OS. This became a large issue 18 months later during a Sierra upgrade when I had to wipe the machine and reinstall the OS from scratch, and the machine kept asking me for the original user's password. Ooops. Just sloppy. About a week later, just for kicks, my boyfriend cold called them and was told, oh yes we wipe every machine before reselling. I kind of liked this place. Now I'm done. They're satisfied with slipshod work and expect their customers to be too. read more

I definitely recommend Love Haight. I spilled some water on my macbook and thought all was lost. A friend recommended Love Haight and I called them after a day of 'drying' my laptop in some rice. They are definitely better than a bag of rice. 90% success rate, much quicker, and they explain step by step the recovery process and costs. A bag of rice will just stress you out. Call Love Haight ASAP and get on with your day. I spoke to Oliver on the phone and he made me feel so much better about recovering my data and rescuing my macbook. I dropped it off the next day at around 1pm when he spent time explaining the procedure and possible costs. Amazing Apple store and a huge surprise! My wife and I went in on a tight budget after I had a tragic knee surgery incident that put us in a major financial bind. Of course, my wife's computer broke during that exact timing. We went in to Love Haight to see what they could do and they thought the screen just broke, said it'd be about $160 to replace the screen. We were happy and left, knew it was a good deal. They called a few days later telling us the issue was a more complex one (the image/video card) and would cost 500 to fix. Not worth it, but they had other machines they could offer and transfer her data and trade in the broken computer for. We are so broke, it was something to think over. We came in after consideration. We both needed computers for work and school soon but not immediately, and made a cash and broken computer offer to Oliver who was working, that we thought was fair and beneficial to both us and the business. After discussing what we could afford, Oliver met us at a low and fair offer that we agreed upon. The offer was a heck of a deal for us, yet still profitable for them. But they did go beyond their regular comfort zone to work with us and go close to within our budget. We ended up with 2 awesome lap-tops with one year warranties for a great price after our broken trade-in. Oliver was extremely helpful and flexible. He gave us a great deal and we gave him a 2 computer purchase. He explained all of the benefits of our choice computers over others and why we need these particular apple macbooks versus different models. And he even pushed cheaper models to us than others we were interested in based on the kind of work we were doing. So, we know Oliver was not profit-minded only and was truly honest in helping us pick the right machines for our work. Oliver also put all of the data from my wife's broken computer onto her new computer for free. While the data and operating systems were loading, he told us to go have coffee or something since it would take an hour or so to load. We did just that and left our Microsoft Office program for Mac behind when we did so. We were going to load after. When we returned to pick up our new affordable Macbooks, Oliver had taken it upon himself to install our Microsoft Office program into both of our new computers after everything else he did for us! Now THAT IS INCREDIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! We couldn't be more grateful for our experience with Love Haight computers. Great business, quality products, unbeatable prices, and bomb customer service. It's been almost a week and sound of crickets no response. No business is too busy to get back to potenial customers. Why have a submit page on your website for potential customers when you clearly aren't returning queries? Two Thumbs up to Love Haight! I've been coming here pretty frequently over the past couple years for accessories and general maintenance. The people that work here are friendly and knowledgable about all things Apple. I got a new battery put in my early 2013 macbook pro 15in retina a couple weeks ago. Replacing the batteries on these computers is no joke. Apple decided that it would be best if they made it as difficult as possible to change these out, so they glued them in. Love Haight got this done for me for a reasonable price and in great time. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND COMPUTER PROBLEMS UNADDRESSED. I had recently removed adware from my computer and was still experiencing slow internet connection and loading. I brought my dell in to troubleshoot this. They said they would try one adware removal program and if it didn't work they would wipe the computer clean n start anew. The adware removal they installed (which they supposedly tested results) made it impossible to connect to any wifi and when I called from out of town to get assistance they said they could do nothing over the phone. Told me to go to another shop even though I already paid them. After asking to talk to a manager I was told I would be called back twice which never happened and the third time someone called me back while they were driving. When I came back we agreed that the computer should be wiped clean so I saved my materials and gave them the windows 8 install.After 3 days they call back and say the internet works fine so they didn't wipe and reinstall. I sit here today, $100 less, reviewing from my phone as I wait for the yelp page to load on my laptop. read more

This place is a Godsend. To get one-on-one immediate professional service for your tech is really really valuable especially in a city like this. I've come here many times for various odds and ends like power adapters and hard drive recovery, with great results, but last week I had an emergency. I broke the retina screen on my MacBook Pro and needed it replaced for a DJ gig I had later that night. At the Apple Store they would have had to send my laptop away for several days to fix it. Wow! I walked in here with a cracked iPhone 7 but my main concern was getting my charging port fixed because I would spend 5-10 minutes trying to get my phone to charge everytime. I had bought a screen and wanted to see how much they would charge to replace the screen with the one I bought and to repair my port. However they will only replace parts with what they have and not customer bring ins. Arif insisted on taking a look at my charging port anyways since it was my main concern and within 10 minutes, he explained to me that lint gets caught inside them a lot while he was picking out lint that I didn't know was in there. He tested it out and BOOOOM!!!! It's charging with no issues and the best part is he didn't charge me a dime!! If that's not great customer service then I don't know what is! I would give ten stars if Yelp would let me. My MacBook Pro had a headphone piece break off in jack and then I had a loved one try to extract it using super glue.. needless to say it was #$&(*$. Mac store quoted me $600 -$800 and 2 months time to ship away and fix. One week and less than $400 to fix the replace the jack completely. And they did it with kindness and humor. THANK YOU! Just finished talking with the same guy at Love Haight Computers. It was my 3rd follow up call inquiring whether they could repair my 2010 iMac desk top just enough so I could transfer / wipe my data out which I could then give it to the Apple store to recycle once it was cleared. First time I called guy said he would give my msg to his co-worker who does the repairs and will call back. Week or so goes by no call from Love Haight so I call again 2nd time, was told "oh yeah he was out I will have him call you". So today (10/18) more than a week later I make my 3rd call same guy answers, "yes I remember your call I talk to him we cannot make repair on your computer," he said. Didn't use the word, unfortunately or sorry we haven't called you back or why they couldn't just said that. Although I figured out on my own my desktop was probably too old. I said, "I'm trying to do business with your store the least you could have done was to call back, not good customer service." I had been at the Apple Store where I'd asked if they had the screws that hold the bottom plate onto my laptop, and the genius said yeah. "You'll have to call and make an appointment, and then bring your computer down, and one of our techs will replace the screws." I went to Love Haight and they gave me the screws. I turned in my dead Mac laptop for a refurbished (and vastly upgraded) Mac book and, while I was at it, bought a refurbished 21" desktop to replace my dinosaur of a G5. They were patient, informative and (very important) willing to work with me so that I got the best bang for my buck. Couldn't be happier! The guys at LHC worked with me trying to configure an audio interface with one of their macs. After it became apparent the interface would not play no matter what we did, they set me up with newer pimped out Mac and I went with another interface. It worked flawlessly! I appreciate they were willing to try different OSXs and builds to get it to work. So, the lesson is, don't try to make a Digi 002 work without ProTools. For a basic studio setup, get a Behringer UMC404HD. TL DR: Good prices, good service! read more

I have to say I rarely am willing to give a 5 star review when it comes to a technology experience but honestly this is THE BEST place for computers. See my other review for the best place in SF for phones. My computer saga in short: I destroyed my 2014 macbook air with a cup of tea I went to replace it with a newer model 2019 also air. I was promised my data would be transferred and it wasn't able to be right away which was fine but I needed a machine for work right away. I work mostly in video conferencing and only realized after I purchased this did I realize that the new "hd" cameras in the computers have a much grainer camera. I even got a complaint from a client! Of course apple can put a billboard quality camera in their phone but if you want it in a computer you're going to have to buy one externally. Anyway! I wanted to return this item right away! It took some time and some back and forth but Aslam was able to get me my exact machine that I had broken. He even was able to save the camera from my old machine and put the top part of the laptop on the new machine which meant I got to keep my stickers. The price difference between the old machine 2014 and the new machine 2019 was only about $100 and I did get more ram and a better machine for me. Thank you Love Haight. Awful! Sold a computer here and it took a week to get a quote. First because they forgot to ask for my password and second because the workers were not there. When they finally did quote me it was for a measly 30 dollars. I could have sold it on Craigslist and some grateful college students could have had it hooked up. I would have taken it if they didn't take a whole damn week and refuse to tell me the quote over the phone. I just bought a brand new Mac book pro and was seeing if the customer service would be great and prices fair. But they are just here to fuck over all these displaced techies. These guys are great. I went in here to get RAM for my Mac and they were able to help me quickly and efficiently. I was in and out the door in about 20 minutes. All of them were very personable, and they all had the vibe of people that love computers...geeks really....exactly the type of people you want opening your computer. Price wise, they are definitely cheaper than the Apple store. About $75 cheaper actually for 8 gigs of RAM. Sure I could have gotten it cheaper online, but I wanted the RAM and I wanted it now. And it comes with a warranty which is always nice. The location is kind of odd, truth be told. You have a clean, well-lit computer store with local artist's painting on the wall in the middle of the Lower Haight. They are also very proud of their hardwood floors. I would definitely come back here if my computer needs an upgrade (adding an SSD drive maybe?) The prices are fair, the service is great, and it's close to where I live. Five Yelps! read more

I Bought 2 Mac Books in Dec. 2010 here and both are still working exceptionally well. Earlier this year I bought a re-fab IMAC for my business, for POS purpose, had a small glitch. Apple store: two visits - one walk in and a following appt - left computer to be repaired that day for $126, received contact next morning that my Mac air would cost a $750 flat fee, said no thanks and picked up my computer. Love Haight Computers: walked in at 3:30pm, received a call at 5:30pm that computer could be fixed for $170. Repair was completed within the next hour. Great service, friendly people, efficient - they will be my go to for all repairs and some purchases (great selection of refurbished computers). Highly recommended. read more

I stopped in a few weeks ago to drop off my 2 y.o. MacBook Pro which has suddenly slowed to a crawl. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it in a matter of about 10 minutes. I needed to move a lot of data and by adding add'l RAM, my Mac now runs as good as new. Prices were competitive, service was great and it was walking distance from my place. Other than visiting the Apple store downtown, it was my first experience patronizing a Mac shop (and this store is independent). Even after a few weeks, my machine continues to runs great. It's the type of place I hope I don't need to visit again anytime soon, yet I'm glad they are in my 'hood when I need them! I felt much better supporting a local business vs. taking it to Apple. I would also def consider buying a refurbished rig from them in the future (tho I hope my Mac will last for a while!) read more
