    Dried thermal paste, unbelievable

    This place doesn't refurbish computers. Anyone that wants to waste their time, I invite you to buy a laptop here and then take it somewhere else that's competent and have them inspect the thermal grease. This place doesn't even own a soldering iron... When you buy a laptop here, you're buying a used laptop that has only been evaluated to power on and install an operating system. You're not getting an actual refurbished computer. With that said, the new MacBooks from Apple have most if not all of their internal components soldered in place, so the only thing that can be actually refurbished is the thermal paste and possibly the battery, but this place does neither. Their screen repair is decent but the price margin is so close to that of Apple's, you're better off servicing your laptop with the original manufacturer (why wouldn't you?) Their battery service is decent but also, their battery quality is lesser than what you get from Apple's battery replacement service. I'm happy to answer any questions you have about this review/business through my DM. It honestly hurts to see people buy a laptop from this place, only to be hung dry a year later when the computer falls apart and the owner of this business is not picking up his phone.

    I wish I didn't have to write this, but customer service at this place has taken a dive, since they moved from the old location in the Lower Haight. My experience today with Azam was just outright bizarre. My appointment today was for 2:30PM, so I got there 15 minutes early: there was a Sticky-Note on the door that said "Be Back In Ten", even though I could clearly see Azam standing inside the store. I wait outside until 2:30, then knock on the door. No answer, so I call the store and, again, no answer. Finally, he opens the door at 2:35, goes into this long rant about how his technician is gone for a week, and then after looking at my laptop, tells me its pretty much a trade-in or good for parts. The icing on the cake is when he insisted that my appointment was for 3:30, even though the email confirmed it at 2:30. The whole encounter just felt like the customers are an afterthought, and this was for the same laptop I bought from them in 2021. Like others have said, store hours and communication across platforms is inconsistent. The excellent customer service I experienced in 2017 is no more, and I definitely won't ever come back.

I went to Luis for screen repair bc my laptop fell onto the floor on the side and the screen cracked, and blacked out with dead pixels on the screen. Luis repaired it for me so fast with incredible turnaround time within days. List of why Luis goes above and beyond: 1. Cared about saving me money whenever possible and was very transparent about prices, talked me through details and options for replacement screens and gave pros and cons of each while comparing prices. He sent screenshots of prices and receipts as well as FedEx tracking. (As an aside, I mentioned I might Lyft to his place to send the laptop and he said 'don't do that, so expensive, take MUNI and save money!') 2. After receiving my laptop, he also saw my right speaker had bad sound (I've been meaning to get this fixed for a while and have been putting it off) and offered to fix it himself. He was going to do it for an additional $50 then later just charged me $25 bc the speaker he found wasn't "perfect" according to him but to me it sounds great haha. This saved me so much instead of going to Apple without warranty which would have been at least $200 bc from what I read, they usually insist on replacing the entire "top case" and not just single speakers. Wow, thanks Luis! 3. I am badly organized and don't maintain my storage well; when I went to pickup he gave me many tips on what to fix and how to free up more storage, then organized my desktop for me in front of me. Thanks Luis! His communication is also top notch, very fast response times, very detailed texts. He's absolutely fantastic. You are in good hands if you go to him.

    luis's efficiency, short turnaround time, and thoroughness are truly admirable thus i'm thankful…read morethat he was able to repair my laptop so quickly. context: i spilled half a glass of room temp water on my macbook pro (april 9). april 11th (4/11), though my laptop can turn on + all of my data was still there, the keyboard and trackpad no longer worked. timeline: i contacted him through his website on monday (4/13) afternoon, then again on yelp monday night (due to my anxiety and urgency). luis called me wednesday morning (4/15) for details and the price cost to repair. we scheduled for me to drop off my laptop the next day (4/16), where i walked him through what had happen to the macbook and he walked me through what he was planning to do to fix it, as his success rate for liquid damage repair is 70+%. luis contacted me again later on the same day (4/16) via text message with photos + explanations with what had happen after opening up my laptop AND that the laptop was fixed & ready for pick up! after checking everything is fine/ good to go, i picked up my repaired macbook on friday (4/17). price: it was a $100 nonrefundable deposit to check if the laptop is fixable (paid on 4/16). $200 for labor + $20 for parts (lid angle sensor and 1 usb-c port) that needed to be replaced (paid on 4/17). total for my macbook repair was $320. sincerely appreciate the speedy fix and def reach out again for future macbook repairs/replacement parts.

As if they want to send anyone besides conventioneers and architects of their own custom-built gamer towers with 256 RAM , an animation studio attached, and gold and diamond USB ports...anyway, I tell dude I need 'an adapter, something unusual, well, to me unfamiliar, a USB TO SAT.. Something?' He says 'OH YEAH! I knowIknowIknow. I just wanted him to tell me where, roughly, it was. Stay at your post Sparky, take a breath. So he heads out on the floor, grabs a small box and pushes it at me. I assume he knows, he seemed sure, eager, confident, competent......so I paid and left. He NEVER asked what I was doing or what I was working with. He sold me a "uDrive Adapter USB-A 5Gbps to SATA", assuming, I suppose, I was inquiring about a laptop compatible device. I was not, in fact, I told him exactly what make and model I was using. The world's most basic machine; a DELL OPTIPLEX FFS! A desktop. Standing with the front door open on my way out I said 'Joel, or 'JEREMY', or whatever fancy pants name was, 'So, this is it right? This is all I need?'. He was already grinding his teeth and super-helping the conventioneer eyeballing the glass case. So, next time its best buy Amazon fuckin Target, anywhere but those creeps down there on Howard. Oh, and they better not charge me more when I'm there tomorrow at 8:50 am. I want the right item for the lower price. You betcha.
