Rich's communication skills are equaled only by his technical expertise. I had purchased a Windows 11 computer for an elderly friend who, shall we say, is less than tech savvy. The operating system had crashed inexplicably and despite my best efforts seemed irreparable. Rich made a careful examination of the hardware, found it to be in good condition and suggested reinstalling Windows. After succeeding with that, he upgraded the OS and then, given my friend's limited computer skills and her irregular usage of her PC, customized the system so that all that's required of her is that she boot up once every two weeks to ensure that updates are installed on a regular basis. All I had to do was transport the PC to and fro, and provide instruction on best practices for powering down the system and inform her as to which button she needs to push on her modem if she finds herself offline. All other functions have been streamlined for her--even her favorite sites are laid out for her, pinned to the taskbar. And just when I thought the experience couldn't get any better, Rich quoted his price which was a mere pittance given the value I'd received. When my 15 year old Dell Dimension crashed after upgrading to Windows 10, I searched Yelp for nearby computer repair and found Rich. After requesting a quote on Yelp and his noting that he doesn't make house calls, he honestly commented that I should think about upgrading to a faster, less memory hog computer as whoever comes over will likely not be able to fix it. He recommended a Dell Optiplex already loaded with Win10, sent me a link on eBay, and I paid less for the slightly used computer than the Win10 license (luckily Microsoft refunded me). When the new computer arrived, we took both my old and new computers to his apartment (he works from his home) and he migrated all my programs, documents, photos, bookmarks perfectly to the new computer. He gave me a quick primer when I picked it up a few days later, and it's now running quickly and quietly in perfect order. So I bought a new monitor, should've been a plug and play situation but sadly I plugged and monitor couldn't detect a signal from my computer. Called the manufacturer, spent over an hour talking to a rep and, in the end, we concluded that it's not the monitor but my desktop's HDMI port that's the issue. Best laptop repair service! And best price! I can't say enough good things about Rich (owner of the business). I had a little accident and spilled water all over my laptop and it wouldn't turn on anymore. Rich said he could repair my laptop by replacing some parts and recover all the data or he gave me the other option to buy another brand new laptop and he would transfer all the data for me. Never responded to several (email/phone) requests for quote on a routine/preventive care laptop checkup. (The 100% response rate regarding a quote is misleading.) I found Rich on Yelp and contacted him to repair my Dell XPS. I contacted him during the pandemic, so he was only taking a few services. He was quick to respond, honest, and straightforward over the phone, which I really appreciated. When I described my laptop's issues, he expressed concern and told me that it would be expensive to fix (as it is likely a motherboard issue). To subside the cost, he even offered to help me find used motherboards online free of charge and install it for a lower cost in hope that it would fix my laptop's mysterious problems. I ultimately decided to purchase a new laptop because the risks for my laptop were not really worth it. However, I would definitely recommend Rich!!!
