Bryan is a superstar! He knows his stuff. And, he is very kind, very personable, and articulate. First, we thought it was a battery problem for my 3 years old Thinkpad, so, Kenny (their tier 1 technician) helped install the battery and ran diagnostics. But, next day, the computer didn't charge again. So, they returned the battery and I bought a new computer, this time, HP Envy (one of Bryan's three brand recommendations), and I took it in to swap out the driver. Bryan told me that I can buy an adapter for the new driver from my new HP Envy (which was swapped out with the Thinkpad driver) to use as my external drive. What a great share of knowledge! And, he made sure that I was able to uninstall everything Lenovo on my new HP Envy before I left. And, he only charged me 30 minutes extra for the labor to swap out the drive, update to MS WN 11, and uninstall everything Lenovo (again, because I am using my driver from my old Thinkpad). Yesterday I stopped by Sweet Memory IT Services to see if they could solve a problem I had with my Ipad. I couldn't insert the power code to charge the Ipad - something was stuck inside the plug opening. I expected the repair to be somewhat expensive, assuming they would have to remove the entire plug opening and install a new one. They took the Ipad into a back room (where I believe Sam, the manager, was) and returned in a matter of minutes. They found a small bit of wire stuck in the opening (who knows from what?), removed it, and the power cord could now be fully inserted into the Ipad for charging. They DID NOT charge me anything and were just happy that they were able to help me with my problem. These guys were great - they know what they're doing, they're extremely helpful and they won't rip you off. I would not hesitate to use them for any problem I might have with a computer. My acquaintance with Kenny, a technician at sweet memory, all began because of what broke on my laptop when I neglected to address loose hinge. Kenny replaced.laptop screen of mine based on his recommendation against after-market hinge. He explained that original equipment wasn't very expensive, and would be easier to work with if hinge got loose again. I dropped a hard drive off to see if they could retrieve the memory. $150 to take a look - not a problem. Week goes by - nothing 2 weeks - their system crashed, start over. 3 weeks - Get a notice that my drive can't be fixed and I should come get it. So I ask why it took 3 weeks to figure it out. They respond with "oops, wrong person, we're still working on yours." One month - 1.6 TB retrieved, sounds great, slow but great that the data is alive. 5 weeks - Pick up my drive, pay another $125 which seemed decent, only catch is they didn't actually transfer the data. Nothing actually ended up on the new drive. Excuse was that "it was corrupt". Okay, then tell me you recovered nothing, not 1.6TB of data that you literally didn't even transfer to the drive you charged me to transfer nothing to. Asked for my money back and they complied. Except they didn't. Just simply didn't do it. Asked again and they apologized and said they were on it. Still have not been refunded. I don't think they're crooks, they all seem nice. Just super incompetent and terrible with communication. read more

I recently had the best experience with Sweet Memory getting my computer repaired. I had been having a problem with my Dell laptop power cord connection for a long while. In Feb. 2021 it got really bad so I contacted a number of different repair shops that were recommended to me or that I used previously. One told me the soonest it could be repaired was 4-6 weeks and the others were a minimum or 2-3 weeks. When I called Sweet Memory in San Francisco, Sam the owner answered and told me to come in with my computer. Within an hour, I was there and he told me that a part was broken and that he could order a new one, which would probably take a week, and that his technician would install it when it arrived. I got a price estimate, which was a little higher than some shops, but reasonable. Less than a day later, I received a text and an e-mail from Sweet Memory saying the part had been ordered. Within 2 business days, Michael, the technician contacted me that the part had arrived. I went to their shop in the early afternoon and in about 2 hours I received a call that my computer was ready to pick up. I am so pleased with the service and responsiveness of Sam and Michael at Sweet Memory. My computer works great now. I feel really good supporting a small business that is doing a great job with providing excellent service. If there is a next time I need computer repair, Sweet Memory is the first place I will go. It is tough being a small business during normal times, but with the pandemic it has been even harder. I highly recommend that you consider Sweet Memory for your computer repair needs. read more

Eek! Methinks not. Don't support this business. I dropped my iPad2 one evening and shattered the screen. I brought it to Sweet Memory for screen replacement the next day (24hr turnaround). Though they kept it overnight but didn't get to the repair until the next afternoon (repair time was probably less than 2 hours). The repair looked pretty good when I picked it up. Back at the office, I noticed the gasket was slightly damaged (lokked like they were made by a small screwdriver) and the screen didn't fit as well as before the repair. Turns out the screen also was loose...not seated properly or double-back taped incorrectly. Bought it back today at before 10am (about a week into the 30-day guarantee). Sam at Sweet Memory told me the gasket damage was a result of the fall. If so, why didn't they replace it during the repair or bring it to me attention? Sam also told me they replace a lot of screens and this has never happended before. When I called at 1:30pm, another person told me my iPad was next in line behind another iPad redo (also a screen replacement where the "glue" didn't hold). It's been promised by 5pm. We'll see how they do. It's looking like this repair was NOT worth the $200 I paid. Though screen replacement looked complicated and time-consuming (youtube video instructions), I should have bought the part online and replaced it myself (DIY = quality repair). read more

As I discovered after dropping my phone, there aren't too many non-iPhone repair shops in the Financial District. Even Sweet Memory gives their iPhone/iPad repair services top billing, apparently assuming that us lowly Android users can't afford to have our phones repaired or something. Nevertheless, I gave them a go for my Pixel, and, after a little back-and-forth about the specific model, they were able to put in an order for the next day (PROTIP: get there as early as possible in case a part needs to be ordered special). I returned early the next day, handed over my phone, and it was ready by 5:00. If you have an Android phone, these guys can get the job done. read more

I'm really upset with this company. My macbook's screen was completely busted and I really needed to get it repaired for school. (I'm taking an online class and it's difficult to do so when you don't have access to a computer). My boyfriend contacted this company to get it fixed and we had to pay for the parts first. I was quoted $469 for the part and $125 to install. Personally I found that kinda sus, I was expecting the company to pay for it first and they would include the cost in the repair as a whole but okay, I'll let that slide, maybe that's just the way the operate. It's kind of like a down payment, I guess. So, we ordered it a week before I started school (August 22) and I was told it was going to take 3-5 business days for my part to come in and the repair itself would take about 2 hours. My boyfriend needed to fix his iPad mini also so I dropped that off while I was there and was quoted that it was $120 to repair it. Tell me why it took TWO WHOLE ASS WEEKS for my part to come in. I understand that some things are out of your control, but that's not even what I'm upset about. I'm upset that this company didn't even bother to let us know that it was going to take twice as long as expected to arrive. We actually had to contact THEM to get this information. Which is NOT very good customer service, especially considering that I already paid $500 on this company and that's not even including the labor fee. Turns out, they ordered the wrong color. It's not their fault due to miscommunication on our part, and I take responsibility for that. I was told that my part was going to expedited and that it should take 48 hours to come in. Yeah, well it took ANOTHER week. Yet again, did not contact us about the delay and we were the ones that had to reach out (they claimed it was due to the hurricane). I wanted a refund because they were taking way too fucking long to repair my laptop. They said I can either pay the 15% restocking fee (which makes no fucking sense because we paid for the part ourselves) OR we can get a 20% discount off the labor fee. We opted out to wait and fast forward to today (September 14), I finally get to pick up my laptop after I get off from work. My boyfriend picked up his iPad this morning and paid for both of our labor fees, $265. I was quoted $125 for the laptop and $120 for the iPad. Interesting, the math doesn't add up and we ended up paying more. I thought "mmm maybe I misunderstood the price for the ipad" so i called them up asking for a quote for it, which was $129. He claims that the repairs was actually $300 and we supposedly "got our discount". Which still doesn't make sense because I did the math. Do not trust this place and take your money elsewhere. read more

Called about getting the my wife's iphone 3G glass getting replaced. Was told the glass was $79 and the labor would be $40. A friend of ours had a spare glass part and was hoping that we'd be able to save $79 on the part. Not so... was told that the labor was now $85 since I brought my own glass in. Trying to makeup the markup in the labor now? Thanks dudes. Update: Talked with the wife after getting her iphone back, which was subsequently after I called and apparently they also decided to sell her a $5 glass cover. Additionally, they told her she should also buy a leather case to protect her iphone - which she declined. So, $85 to remove about 10 large shards of broken glass and to clean and put a new glass piece on (which was provided by a friend - thanks Lisa!). Yeah - what a deal. There's nothing sweet about sweet memory. Was hoping these guys would eat the difference - but they operate like the back of an alley shop in NYC. Douches. read more

I broke my iPhone 6 screen! I've owned iPhones for a very long time and never so much a scratched it. So I looked around and found Sweet Memory and I am blown away with the service here. Jared (spelling) and Sam (the owner I suspect) are so friendly and eager to please it's hard to believe such a place exists in the Financial District. The technician Jared feels like an old friend and Sam greets everyone that enters with enthusiasm and a virtuous smile. I haven't had luck getting a screen that fits and looks the way I want yet but Sam said he'd keep ordering until we get one that is the same if not better than my original. I don't mind that I have to go back because I truly believe that these gentleman have my happiness in their best interest. I will ONLY refer people to this establishment and will remain loyal to Sweet Memory for as long as I live in the bay. I've been a customer here for the last few years. Every time a drive dies I take it to these guys and every time they've been able to help me. Yesterday, a drive that they'd repaired for me a year ago wouldn't mount. I took it down there today, explained my situation, and because it was a drive they'd worked on they waived the usual fee that's up front. He and Jared both were friendly, easy to talk to, and willing to give me down-to-earth advice about what to buy and where to buy it. They were even willing to be honest about shopping around for competitive prices on things they sell in-house. That, to me, is the mark of a professional- when someone is willing to forego a sale in light of being honest about what might be best for the customer (and their wallet). And it only makes me want to spend more money with them. I left my drive with Joey and he said he'd take a look at it today. Not only did he look at it today, he had assessed the problem so quickly that I hadn't made it more than a few blocks away. When he called me he said, "I wanted to get back to you before you got too far away." He had already switched out the bad part and didn't charge me a thing. Just asked that I review their work. When I asked them if there was anything in particular they wanted me to write about, Jared said, "About your experience. Good or bad."
