I would love to hear from this company - I have tried all of their phone numbers, emails, twitter - and no response at all so far. Please get in touch about mutual client where you setup their network and have all the keys. Their toll-free number is disconnected and Google Street View shows an empty office? I hope this doesn't mean they have abandoned their customers who have installed/managed equipment. read more

Highly responsive and knowledgeable company. They have provided a wide variety of IT services for us, helping install wireless networks, perform site surveys, and provide expert IT consulting. Highly ethical, accurate billing, and trustworthy. read more

I just have to give these guys some serious props.. They told me they were not the right folks to help me with my troubles. But they happily gave me a wonderful referral to another business in the area that was perfection to help me. So many companies these days just play dumb when you ask for a referral and it always makes me feel sad at how small & isolated our communities have become. So props to these guys!!! read more

This is my second review for Nerd Busters. I wrote one back in March 2013 but Yelp didn't post it & Nerd Busters didn't get credit for it since I'm relatively new to Yelp. That was a bummer. Anyway, I wanted to take a moment to write a second review in hopes it'd get posted this time because these guys are great! I'm self-employed and thus my own IT department, which is not a good thing! Will is now my new IT department! He's super friendly, very quick to respond and very patient. He was able to sort through my myriad of notes, questions, error messages (pictures of error messages!), etc and he fixed everything! Another huge plus - he did everything remotely! So convenient and I actually learned a thing or two because he explained to me (over the phone) what he was doing and why he was doing it while I watched him work - right from the comfort of my home office. Very cool. And he didn't make me feel stupid, which I really appreciated - hey, some of us are really tech-challenged! As I mentioned in my prior review, a member of the Nerd Buster's team also did a house-call for my parents a few weeks ago & they were pleased as well. They're all really nice guys. So whether you need help with a bigger in-home issue, or just a checkup & cleaning of your laptop - these are the guys for you! Oh - and I think the price is very reasonable - $100 for a remote session that included responding to my multiple emails, fixing all of my problems, answering my questions, teaching me what things are and why they're there & removing unnecessary items - all without the hassle or expense (gas!) of physically taking it somewhere. Fantastic! read more

Took almost 24 hours to reply to e-mail. Replied with a "helpful suggestion" which ran "recommend installing google chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Internet explorer is notorious for crashing. Those other two browser will work better. Chrome is a lot faster as well. If you still have issues let us know". Um...I am not a geek or a nerd, but, I do know how to use different browsers! As Alice said "curiouser and curiouser". Maybe they were trying to be nice and save me money? No idea. Not helpful though. Will rate the place that e-mailed me back promptly, once I get my laptop back. read more

One word..... SAVIOR! For an independent, broke/working student at 23 living in SF, it feels like the world ends when something as valuable as your laptop screen cracks due to misfortune. Fear not, Stephen came to the rescue! After Apple telling me it'd be a $500 fix for my first-generation MacAir that I so gladly used my school loans to pay for, the Apple "genius" advised that I should just invest in a new MacBook if I'm going to spend "that much money." HA! $1200+ is a LOT more than $500... After 2 months of saving/debating on whether or not I should just sell my right kidney for a new computer, I found NerdBusters and, DEAR LORD BABY JESUS, I feel like I've found God again... Stephen told me it was just a cracked screen and easily replaceable and therefore, saving me my right kidney, my mental sanity, and my hard-earned paycheck.... I WILL ALWAYS standby NerdBusters in the future with any computer issues! read more

So, the house computer, a Powermac G5, spontaneously died and wouldn't come back on. My husband rightly diagnosed it as a problem with the power supply. He ordered the replacement part and I called around to mac repair shops in the city. As far as I can tell none of the mac places in the city are geared towards individuals. They don't stay open past 6, they have no parking of their own and they have no weekend hours. i found Nerd Busters on Yelp and it seems like a lot of other people have too. I had a hard time getting in touch with someone who could answer my questions. The phone number on the site is an answering service and I didn't want to do an online scheduling until I could work out the details with a human being. So it turns out Stephen is a one-man operation who does a good job and is therefore very busy and can be hard to get in touch with. But I'm glad that I persisted. He does house-calls or pick-up and drop off. So there's no lugging of heavy objects all over town. He does repairs on the weekends and after work hours. He came over on a Saturday, was professional and courteous and perhaps most importantly had our computer up and running in under an hour for the same price as the other shops. He's our mac guy from now on. read more

OMG - I thought I was smart enough to handle setting up a network in the house on my own. I moved into my boyfriend's house (now my husband) last May. I had been working to get the network set up since. I've bought routers and airports and have had friends and friends of friends come over to help, I've disconnected all the equipment and brought it in to the Apple help desk...and yet...things kept getting messed up. But Steve corrected the entire mess and set up the house with a completely functional wifi in just 1 hour. This man rocks! He even humored the dog sniffing him and everything he brought in the house with a smile and a hell of a lot of professionalism!! Easy to contact, easy to schedule, prompt, fast... HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! read more

I found NerdBusters on Craigslist and the service was excellent. Prompt response and online scheduling. Good interaction before the home visit. Quickly fixed and extended our home network with a powerline solution which I had been unable to do myself with Apple Airport Express. read more

Our computer melted down to...well, it was unrepairable after we mistakenly accepted a virus disguised as Norten. We booked our appointment online, and within minutes, we received a call from Nerdbusters to let us know they might not be able to make it on time. Fast forward 5 hours, and we received another call to say they still would be late for our rescheduled time. Luckilly, we were not busy that day- normally, this would've been a deal-breaker (1 star deducted from the covetted 5 star rating). When Steve showed up, he was totally awesome- he diagnosed, fixed and was out of our place in around 2 hrs- we sat with him, probably the most annoying thing you could do- and he didn't blink. He was cool, easy to communicate with, and he tried to educate us on what he was doing as he went through his fix process. I highly recommend these guys! read more

I had a problem with my desktop PC, I thought all was lost... I took it to Nerdbusters and explained my predicament to Will. He listened to what I had to say, was professional and explained exactly what he thought could be the problem and said to leave it with him and he would contact me with an update that day. 5pm bang on time, I received a call from Will to say it was working again! He even added network drivers to a download directory should I have problems with a secondary issue AND waited till nearly 6pm for me to get a taxi to collect my PC! Above and beyond normal service and so nice to see nowadays. I would have no hesitation in recommending Nerdbusters to anyone. Alan D. read more

Steve is an amazing professional. He was able to straighten the mess that the Comcast tech left and now I have a perfectly working AV system. I can now enjoy my surround sound system and operate all functions on 1 remote. He is very knowledgeable and friendly (pet-friendly too). He definitely knows his stuff!!! I highly recommend him! A solid 5 Stars! If he had a FB page, I would def LIKE! And his fees are fair, honest and 1/3 of the Geek Squad's estimates. read more

Steve is great! He was very professional, followed up quickly after I made my appointment online, arrived on time and fixed my network problem quickly after I spent 3 frustrating days trying to fix it myself. He knows what he is doing! His fee was extremely reasonable. A solid 5-stars+. read more

Stephen is super smart and professional. He showed up on time, rewired the phone line, dealt with old school DSL wiring and we were able to finally move our DSL modem and router out of my daughter's bedroom (former office). He's got mad tech skills, a get it done attitude, a good sense of humor. He's the best! read more

Anthony came out twice and we got to the bottom of my computers very complex problem. He was a calm person to my very emotional state. New parts were bought, and we made it through the storm, so that my business is up and running again. He was a nice guy, and very knowledgeable. I would reccomend them. read more

Stephen is not only very talented, but he is relentless in his mission to satisfy the customer. I had one of the most headache-inducing computer problems out there, which I myself had trouble-shot for months, and Stephen worked and worked and worked until every possible cause was resolved, leaving me with a machine that functions perfectly. Although it is easy for hourly computer techs to misdiagnose a problem and send you on your way, Stephen refuses to do so, standing by Nerdbusters' workmanship guarantee, which is reason enough to use these guys for your next flustering computer fiasco. Bravo! read more

Steve at NerdBusters is wonderful! As a new nonprofit without an office, it is super important that our organizations laptops and printers work perfectly each and every time. Time is of the essence and our money is precious. Steve initially worked with us to set up our one "problem" printer and sync it to our laptop [our Founder *cough* is technologically illiterate]. While syncing up our laptop, he noticed that one of our laptops was faaaar from optimized, and needed some major help. One hour later, our organization's laptop was [comparatively speaking] processing at the speed of light. Sweet! He even showed us some cool new Mac tricks that have increased our productivity. We will certainly work with Steve and NerdBusters in the future. We highly recommend them for all tech/set-up needs. - Jade + Break Through the Static [www.breakthroughthestatic.org] read more

Stephen is awesome! It took him just one day to figure out and fix our computer for a very affordable price. It was full of viruses and wouldn't even turn on. It works great ever since. Definitely recommend him to everyone! read more

I hired Steve to set up a Sonos wireless sound system at my condo. The sound system turned out to be even better than what I was looking for, and the service was fantastic - scheduling appointments was easy (and he was available in the evenings), he gave clear, accurate estimates, and he patiently led me to be an expert on the system. I highly recommend Nerdbusters. read more

Wow! This guy is super professional and really knows his stuff. Explained everything to me like a regular person. I also appreciated that he was very pragmatic about whether or not repairing my 6 year Dell was the best approach for my needs and pocketbook. Would highly recommend Steve as a nice guy with crazy tech skils. read more

We are new in SF and my computer hard drive died suddenly even though only a year old. What to do? Who to trust? Who you gonna call? Nerd Busters!! Our tech savvy son in LA researched and told us to give them a call. Steve came the next day - a God send. He diagnosed it correctly, went with me to Best Buy to get a new computer, set it up, and I was good to go for an important webinar I was teaching in 3 days. I'm a psychologist and rely on my computer for work. Steve was calm, competent, professional, and very competitively priced. Other hi-rated companies we called were unable to offer such prompt, reasonably priced service. Plus! He recovered all the material on my computer!!!!!!! Now, Dropbox had a bit to do with that, too. Plus! He offers great follow up service, if questions come up later. read more

Nerd busters wasn't able to take my printer on site to fix (due to moving offices) but Chris Ganister, a Sr. Systems Administrator, was able to give me a few tricks to try and it worked. Saved me the hassle of finding another printer repair shop and some $$. Thanks Chris. read more

The best part of living somewhere for awhile is that you get to develop a system. Favorite doc (check), favorite dentist (check), favorite salon (check), favorite auto repair (check). Now I can say check, check, check for the best ever computer service, Nerd Busters. Thanks to the magnificent yelp reviews, we contacted NB Steve when the East Coast brother (genius) and Microsoft tech (worthless) could no longer solve the problem with remote access. He's every wonderful thing everyone says about him. Low key, super competent, professional but world's nicest guy, reasonably priced, and immediately responsive. Save yourself some time and aggravation and add Steve and Nerd Busters to your checklist before you you need him, like I wish I had. read more

Although I bought my new PC at Best Buy, I've never used their Geek squad, and probably will not, as I was extremely satisfied with the overall help from NerdBusters! As a tech-challenged retiree I had not the solightest clue what was out there, especially for my personal situation. NB even met me at BBuy, even drove me home to install it. I even emailed him later about a couple glitches I had and he shot back a reply instantly (no charge!). read more

Nerd Busters might be great, but to be so they would first have to reply to requests for service. I called several times 3/5 thru 3/7 and finally got a return call saying someone else would call me to schedule. As of 3/12, no one ever called to schedule a visit or say they could not do the work. Luckily, I found Castro Computer Service and they accepted a date, then called and said they could come even earlier than my first appointment. They came at the time scheduled and cleaned up the mess I had with my computer and then reset my Sonos. I am one happy camper. read more

Working with Stephen has been a great experience overall. I had him come to my place two times. The first was to re-arrange and organize the satellite connection in my living room, bedroom, and office --- Along with network cable hookups on the wall that were all fed from the office where my Internet / router resides. Overall it was an excellent install, clean and professional. The second visit was a bit of my own fault because I later found that I wanted to re-arrange the rooms a little and thus I needed the re-wiring done a second time. I was willing to arrange a second visit with Nerdbusters and I love how easy it is to arrange an appointment via their website. We came to an agreement on the appointment time/date and Stephen was back out here to help me re-wire existing systems to another side of the room via wall plates in both the bedroom and living room. The living room needed new Audio hookups for my speaker system and we decided to run speaker cable through the walls along with an Optical cable hookup. Everything works as expected and I see no sign of shoddy work. All professionally done, and an amazing service that I cannot find anywhere else in the Bay Area. read more

excellent service, from a guy who knows his stuff, works quickly and efficiently, and is very pleasant to work with. Very happy I chose him for my complex IT home project read more

Steve was not only super nice and trustworthy, but very knowledgeable, fast, and helpful. It was also very easy to schedule with him. We had put off hiring a professional to figure out our networking problems for six years, and he figured it out in about 30 minutes (there was a router downstairs put in by the builders that we didn't know about that didn't allow our routers to assign IP addresses correctly or reliably, which he identified with his laptop and then we went looking for it and found). I can't tell you how many hours we had spent trying to figure it out. Steve also gave me recommendations, which I promptly took, for upgrading our two wireless routers and switch, and also gave me advice for new AV equipment which I hope to get soon. And I will definitely call him if I can't figure it out instead of having it aggravate us for years! One truly nice thing was that he helped me find the gear on Amazon, and after I bought it I realized that he also could have supplied it. He didn't try to make any extra money on us even though he could have. If you need someone for any home entertainment, networking or computer set-up he is fantastic. And so worth it. read more

Had to have the screen replaced on my 2010 15" macbook pro, which is a very expensive repair. I live in a place with very few options as far as apple licensed stores go (Eureka area) so i decided to just send it off somewhere. They were able to do the repair quickly and overall their customer service was excellent. read more

I needed help removing a virus. I first went to Staples where I was told it would be minimum of $280 and they couldn't schedule it for three days. I looked on Yelp and found Steve Homs at Nerd Busters. He came to my apartment within two hours and fixed it in under an hour. His charge of $125 per hour was very reasonable. Moreover, he was really nice and helpful in explaining to me what he was doing. I strongly recommend him for any computer related service. read more

I have only written a few reviews on yelp in the past, but my experience with Steve and Nerd Busters was SO fantastic, that I had to write about it! Steve was friendly and professional during our initial phone call. I set up an appointment for the SAME day - easily and painlessly. Steve was on time for the appointment, but I wasn't, so he called me and then WAITED for ME to show up!! Seriously?? Amazing. He kept in close touch with me throughout the project (upgrading the hard drive on my Mac). He even called to tell me that the price that he had quoted me for the price of the hard drive was off quite a bit because due to the recent flooding in Thailand, all hard drives are now much more expensive. He got my permission to proceed with the project BEFORE he purchased the more-expensive hard drive, rather than simply billing me for it afterwards. I got my perfectly-working computer back this afternoon, and could not be happier! I will definitely be back to Nerd Busters when the need arises. read more
