BEWARE! I went into this shop looking for someone to transfer some old video cassettes to DVD. The guy working the counter, I assume he is also the owner, wanted to charge me $380.00! That is for two cassettes, 4 disks each. I asked why so much?? He said it was because he would have to watch each one. Whatever dude! I know that doing the transfer can be done in high speed. I went somewhere else.... cost me $100 for the whole shebang! Shame on you Atman Computer. Instead of making a loyal customer, you get a very bad review. This guy is a big liar and will not hesitate to rip you off. Too bad for him. Loyal customers and good reviews make a booming business. Now I know why his shop was so quiet. Well deserved. read more

This is probably one place that give me some wonderful memories. Because my dad past away last year. I use to come here when I was real young when I dad come here to get his computer part. Atman Computer is not a video converting business. It doesn't deserve one star because it's not their specialty. But for computer gear, particularly PC, they rock. They hooked me up with a sweet laptop for a great deal. But that's not why I went there. I was looking for a surge protector. They didn't have a large selection, but they had quality like an APC surge protector with more than 6 outlets (can't remember how many) for $20. I ended up getting a surge protector with 6 outlets for $10, and the quality is better than what chains sell for that price. They don't know much about Linux, but if it's Windows, they've got you covered. read more

After spending a few minutes browsing the inventory at Atman Computer, it became very clear that Andy (owner) is passionate about the quality of product he stocks. From HDMI cables, harddrives, 1000W+ power supplies, home stereo, to apple accessories -- you will be hard pressed to find this level of detail at Best Buy or Fry's. With the closing of Radio Shack on Geary, not only am I glad to have discovered Atman Computer, but mostly annoyed I didn't give them a try sooner. read more

I knew that these guys were located here but never had the need to stop in. I dropped my laptop last night from not a very high place but nonetheless it dropped and once I got home I noticed that the laptop was telling me that "theres no battery detected." So naturally i started freaking out, my laptop had now turned into a desktop and as soon as i unplugged the AC adapter, it would shut off on me completely. I knew the battery wasnt dead because i had the laptop for less than a year and it worked when wasnt plugged in just read as no battery detected. Called Atman to see what it would cost to get this fixed and turns out its pretty reasonable at $45 for them to check it and if it was a easy fix the repair would be included in the $45 fee. The gentleman at the desk said it would take about 1-2 hours for him to check it so I made my way back to my office to wait. he calls me in about 15 MINUTES and lets me know that the fix is complete. They are so fast and courteous to their customers and even NEW customers. Glad these guys are around because they really saved my life as i use my laptop mainly for work. I brought my computer in on April 7, 2011, to get it fix but I could get it to run, I reinstall my window vista that I got, my sound didn't even before I reinstall vista, both of my cd drive is not working, I'm miss out, you make it worse than when I brought it in, I'm making a complaint to the better business on this, I also will call channel about your service, I'm also make comment on service on yelp and other site wish I will post later on. I'm all for helping out a privately owned small business, especially in the days of Newegg and Amazon, able to shoot you a deal, but $15.00 for a bracket listed online for as low as $4.99 - $10.32, I can't help you that much. A 32-67% markup on price just isn't logical. read more

Andy's "house calls," are not inexpensive ... but, I consider the money to be very well spent. He's prompt, and works quickly and confidently. For me, so far, his advice has proven to be sound, has resulted in smooth-running systems. I have not, yet, had occasion to do any in-store dealings with Atman. However, for those of us who much prefer home service over lugging heavy components around town, this is a welcome and reliable resource. read more

A store like this, I don't care about the level of service or even friendliness. It's been around as long as I've lived in SF and is a stalwart holdout for neighborhood computer parts shops in San Francisco. It beats fighting traffic and parking at Central Computer if you know exactly what you need and can accept that you are going to pay full retail price for the convenience of having the part you need on hand right now. Minus one star for not carrying more off-brand parts. Monster cable? Come on. read more

I could not be happier about my computer upgrade from the PC doctor's at Atman's Electronics in the Richmond District. They upgraded me from 4 gigs of Ram to 16 Gigs of Ram and from a 1 gig of Ram video card to 2 gigs of Ram video card and a new power supply. All in less than 48 hours. They were very good and very professional. Thumbs up big time! They ROCK! In the meantime I was running an old computer with only on gig of Ram which surprisingly held up like a true champ! read more

Got the blue screen and tried to diagnose the problem on my own. No luck. Took it in to see Michael and he did a fantastic job. Spent three days swapping out nearly every major component until he found out it was a combination of busted CPU and memory. He swapped those out, put everything else back, reinstalled Windows, restored all my file, and I'm off and running again. All for a very reasonable price. I am very satisfied and won't hesitate to go back there if I have a problem again. read more

As a woman in a male dominant market, I have always felt inferior when discussing computers, asking questions about computers, buying a computer. I stayed away, until I had to take my son's broken computer in for analysis. Yelp listed ATMAN near my house. The recommendations I received from Kevin were delivered respectfully and with economic sense...he did not want me to waste my money! He listened to every little detail my son wanted addressed, he empathized with some quirky issues (fan noise) and did not stop working on our upgrade until we were completely satisfied. Kevin and Atman Computer are the first neighborhood computer repair shop that our family has used that has won us over. We are going back with another computer next week! My hard drive was crash and I have it repaired in this store. They charge me 45$ for detection. After that, they say I need to pay 500$ and he can fix it. About one month later, they told me they cannot fix it with 500$, if I pay 2000$ they can restore my data. They are dishonest and only think about money. Trust me, you will waste your time and money here, and never get satisfactory results. read more
