Caveat: I haven't even had Geoffrey (sp?) do the repair to my computer that he said he would do, but I can tell you, after he gave me 10 minutes of his time for free, he's a consummate professional, highly knowledgeable and intelligent, and genuinely nice person. The first thing he tried to get me to do was to not use his service and go through my warranty. Even though it had recently expired, he spent his time walking me through how to request coverage as well as how to reinstate it. Then, when I convinced him that I required his services he quoted me a more than fair price and gave me a time estimate that I expected to hear. I talked to 10 other repair people/companies and was given outrageous prices and time estimates and many who said they just don't do the repair I needed. If you want an honest answer and a fair deal, call Geoffrey. read more

Professional and trustworthy work; also happens to be a very nice guy. Will go the extra mile to make it right. In the future if I have any computer issues this is the place I will go. I must say that while anybody can claim to be an expert, Geoffrey actually is. A great find! read more

First, let me issue a disclaimer: I had never met Geoffry before he recently installed two drives on my ancient iMac. In addition, he cloned and backed up the drive, system, and data flawlessly; cleaned the fans; offered expert, easily understandable technical advisement, and both picked up the computer and delivered it. Not to mention including a complimentary dust cloth. All that-and most importantly- he is a genuinely nice human being who is easy to communicate with every step of the way. I don't get to say that too often anymore in today's San Francisco, which made it a real pleasure. I thought I had stepped into a parallel world that no longer exists for the simple reason it doesn't. Yet it's nice to get the trace memory of what was. Thus, I have no self-interest whatsoever in offering this stellar review. In fact, I am only too glad to do so. Although Geoff admits PC's are more his thing, in my 30 years of MAC only repairs this was the ONLY repair experience I actually enjoyed. Geoff updated me each step of the way via timely text messages; he included explanatory photos and most importantly inspired complete trust that the unit would be fixed properly enabling me to totally de-stress and dispel any attendant anxiety I might have of things going wrong. Now how often can one say that when your computer is in the shop? Last, a word about price: Apple Computer referred me to an insouciant, snooty 'expert' who would have charged me more than $400 more than Geoff did without the backup or the installation of the second drive! Plus, he dissed the computer for being 'dated;' then he disrespected me for being not rich enough to have a more recent model. It was the worst of Apple elitism. Pick up and return delivery? Get real! I think you get the point. Believe it. Look no further. Geoff is 'old school' local in the best way. He should be supported. In a perfect world, he should be subsidized by the state and not have to pay rent for offering exemplary public service. -George G, Richmond District, San Francisco. read more

This was my first time going to Geoffrey. It won't be my last. I went to Geoffrey with a seven-year-old computer that had stopped working. He diagnosed the problem and carefully explained numerous options to me. I ended up letting him find me a dependable used computer. He installed my hard drive into the used computer (which looks and works like a new computer), and now my computer is working better than it has in a couple of years. The price was insanely reasonable. I left thinking, "I've got myself a computer guy!" read more

Geoffrey Yau is possibly the best computer consultant I have ever hired. He is extraordinarily patient, knowledgeable, fast, efficient and got me up and running in under 3 hours! I am so impressed, I could hug Geoffrey, though he works remotely and that is impossible. Not only did he complete the job with absolutely minimal down time, he started me off on the right foot by recommending the products and tools I needed so I could proceed effectively with Geoffrey as my guide. I cannot say enough positive words about Geoffrey. He has a wonderful doggie, too, who stays by his side and keeps him company. read more

Geoffrey was good at listening to my problem, asking questions and offering insight. He took a lot of time to make sure he understood the what had happened and what solution I wanted. He gave me an estimate and stuck to it even though he completed far more work than he'd originally said would be included in the price... but he didn't charge extra.....All this and it was still less expensive than having Geek Squad even look at the computer. Thumbs up! read more

This is a small shop that does a great job fixing broken computers. Jeffrey has repaired Windows and Apples for us. He presents practical solutions to problems and solves problems inexpensively. He's prompt, responsive to calls, and reliable. Recently, he fixed a Macbook for us for less than $300 when the Apple Store wanted close to a grand. He's gentle on the less than tech-savvy consumer, too! read more
