When Apple discontinued their service of one on one tutoring sessions, I began working with Jimmy. He was able to help me with all the highly varied tasks i do on the computer. When i need to get a new phone or printer, he advises me which ones work well and will suit me. (I generally prefer simpler machines that are easier to operate.) He is personable, patient, and explains things clearly.
There are some things that i just want done---things that are complicated enough i don't attempt to learn to do them myself. But there are also many things i try to learn so i can handle them on my own in the future. Jimmy is great at understanding what i mean when i ask questions, and addressing what is important for my particular online needs.
Though he mostly helps with the computer, he also sometimes answers questions about my apple phone, my fit bit, he set up a kindle for me and a facebook page, an instagram account, a time machine, etc. etc. I do a lot of varied tasks on the computer, from making imovies to communicating through a mailchimp list, posting facebook events etc etc. He is extremely knowledgeable and always understands what will work well for me.
The other thing that makes working with Jimmy so great is that you feel like he watches over what you are doing, and makes sure that you are aware of all changes and updates that apply to you. He has told me about helpful products I didn't know existed but have benefitted from greatly. If you give him permission, he can set up a way to be alerted if you have a virus or for some reason are about to crash. And then he fixes it before a disaster happens. I feel like he will catch any big mistake because he has an overview of what I do and would let me know if i'm missing something important. For example, he set up a time machine to be a back up for the info on my computer. And when my computer was threatened with running out of space, he had me put the big files that were causing the problem on a hard drive so the computer could continue to work well.
Sometimes in the past, people had given me advice to correct a problem and the advice did indeed correct the problem. But then it caused new problems, because they weren't taking in the big overview of what i do. That hasn't happened in my work with Jimmy. I love working with him! read more
