I work really close and I have been coming to Loop Nail Spa when it was formerly Robert Valentinos, so around 7 years. They do good work, but this also depends highly on the nail tech you go to. I have been going for so long that I know mostly all of them and they know me. For the most part they keep their techs, which is nice, but also new one's do come and go. My go to techs are Kim and Cindy. They have been techs there since the previous owner and do very good work. They're professional, personable and good at what they do. Any service I receive whether it's a no-chip or mani/pedi always last. I also have had my nails done by Vanessa and Janet and they're good too. They have also been there for a number of years. I typically know how to gauge the best timing to go, which if it's a Thur or Fri your best bet is to get there either before 11:30am or after 2:00pm to avoid the lunch time rush (It can get pretty crowded). Mon-Wed the wait time is not bad at all. Even still when it's a crowd if you do not have a preferred tech they typically get you serviced within 10 minutes and you're usually out in 30-45 minutes, so the perfect lunch time nail spot. They have a lot of nail techs and stations so that helps. Their color selection of regular nail polish and no chip is HUGE. They're possibly the downtown nail shop that has the largest nail color selection I have seen. They always have the latest Essie and OPI seasonal colors. Their prices are comparable to downtown prices ($16 for mani and $40 for mani/pedi), which is typically slightly more (they also have coupons, like $5 off on their website), but for nails that look good and last, top notch color selections and fast, professional, friendly service it makes it worth it in my eyes. read more

I had a mani/pedi done here today and I had really been looking forward to some pampering. However, I did not find that here. They rushed through both services and my cuticles don't look much different than when I walked in and my manicurist hurt me a few times while he was doing them! The paint was also really gloppy coming out of the jar and thus kind of gloppy going on my nails. The file job he did on my nails is rough and uneven with many nails being shorter on one side than the other. Would not go back. read more

I went to get a mani/pedi on a Friday evening and the place was pretty busy. Everyone was really nice and my nails looked really pretty. The only thing that I was not happy was their website said the cost of mani/pedi was 40, but they charged me 42. Also, they told me it would take 45 minutes to an hour, but my whole process took about 1.5 hours. I think I will go there again because they did do a great job and service was great. I had an enjoyable experience here. Needed a last minute mani/pedi before a business trip and searched desperately for a place downtown that actually had appointments open. Usually it's a tough call given my loop location but glad I found these folks. Salon is bright and cheery, and even with the extremely odd comedy show they play on repeat (of gags and pranks in the UK) it actually was a welcomed distraction...I am not a huge fan of having to talk to people while getting any spa services. Technician was however, quite friendly and very nice. Manicure lasted a good week and couple days (did not get the no-chip) and pedi is still going strong from going in about two weeks ago. It's definitely one of those "in-and-out" nail spots so don't expect a full body massage and chocolate strawberries fed to you by trained monkeys. read more

This is a pretty great nail salon for the speed and price of services. I got a spa pedicure earlier this week. The entire process, which was moderately relaxing, took about 40 minutes. I sat under the dryers for another 10 minutes or so and I was on my way. Called earlier in the day and made an appointment at 3:00 on a Thursday, and the place was not very busy -- there were about three other patrons getting various services done. Great color selection from Creative, OPI, and Essie. Polish is available for purchase (hit or miss on some colors but they will sell you the bottle they use to paint your nails if you ask nicely). Desperately needed a pedicure while I was visiting Chicago. Searched the area and went to a nail salon that made me waited 10-15. I didn't want to wait any longer so I went to grab some coffee and as I was walking back to the hotel I saw this place. There was no wait and service was quick, in and out in about 30-40 minutes. The only good thing about this place is a convenient location. Customer service is terrible and of the 4 no chip manicures i've gotten here, i've only been satisfied with one. they are very rough with your hands and rush you out of there very quickly. today i went in for a no chip and requested a holographic color with a white base. the tech completed the white base then when she went to put the holographic color on it realized they were completely out... at that point i was out of time to change to another color completely and got stuck with a dreadful silver color. maybe they should check their inventory before they commit to providing a service. The edges of my nails are also very jagged and sharp. Then i was charged $50 for a manicure i wasn't happy with. i will be going elsewhere to get this disaster fixed. I have recently moved to the West Loop from Lincoln Park. I have had gel nails (pink and whites) for years now, and have had them done at several different locations. Bie is an artist. I'm a flight attendant and have literally gotten my nails done at just about every where. He was so kind and personable, and even took me last minute. He took his time and was extremely meticulous. I am always cleaning, opening bottles, and washing my hands. This set was put on perfectly, and they look so natural. I haven't had gel nails done so well before. I used to enjoy coming here because the service was quick for a work day main pedi. However over time the service has gotten worse. My nails are chipping faster, technicians seem flustered and rushed and just aren't paying attention to detail. I went back again to give them one last try for a pedi and a no chip. When I was done my technician was rushing me out. And although I was drying for a while I was still concerned to leave with my flats on for fear of ruining my nails. She only was concerned about payment and turning over her chair for a new customer. When I got home and took off my shoes I was so disappointed to see how horrible my pedicure was. Polish so smeared off you can see my nail on my big toe. I called them immediately when they opened the next day to tell them of the problem and how I couldn't come in since I had gotten my nails done for an occasion out of town I was leaving town. But hoped they would rectify the situation. I was first screamed at by one employee that she didn't have time to speak to me. The next employee got on the phone and told me the manager wasn't in and her advice was to remove the polish or try to find another salon to fix it. Came in for a simple no chip removal, left with FOUR broken nails. Broken right at the middle of my nail which means a painful healing process. I always do no chip because luckily, my mom passed down pretty good genes when it comes to fingernail strength so I have never dealt with broken nails or acrylics/tips. I usually keep my nails on the longer side when I get no chip, however when the man doing my nails asked if I wanted to shorten them I said sure, lets rock shorter nails for a bit. He cut my nails WITH the no chip gel still ON and because of the gel strength he broke 4 of my nails on my right hand. When I asked if he could take off the no chip before cutting them on my left hand, he gave me attitude and I told him he had broken my nails and he tried to argue with me saying they were broken before. I still paid him and I would highly advise against coming here. I am now dealing with 4 broken, mishapen nails that will take a couple weeks to be able to look normal again. read more

I had a gel fill no chip manicure by a male wearing glasses. He was so incredibly rough with my hands that he cut me deeply and I left bleeding! First he roughly pried some of the edges of my old gel manicure but did it by pressing his clippers painfully into my nail bed. Then he was very rough and careless with his electric filer/buffer and he kept running the filer against my skin, which left my cuticles nicked. Finally, he manually filed my nails but did it in such a rough and careless way that he SLICED my skin with a regular nail file! My finger bled for quite a bit, which is not safe or hygienic for me or anyone else who goes there. I will never go back. In all the years that I have gotten mani/pedi, I have never been cut by a paper nail file or nicked by the electric file. I felt like he was rushing me through, even though I got there after 10am and it was almost empty. If it was just one mistake, I wouldn't write this review. But he was so terribly rough with the clippers, the electric file, and the manual file, and I am sure that I am not the only client that he's ever injured. read more

I decided that I would use my lunch hour to find a random nail place to get decent manicure in order to make my paws look a bit more presentable. Little did I know that I was walking into my future 'regular' nail spa. Even though this location has been here for some years, it's re-opened under new management and the moment you walk in it shows. The decor is a nice escape from the work day, the people are so friendly, the services are top notch, and the prices are just as great. Quick, no nonsense mani-pedi for $40 in about an hour- can't beat that. I needed to kill some time between arriving into the city and meeting a friend so what better way to do that then a mani-pedi, amiright!? Located within walking distance to union station where my train came in at, I wheeled by bag over around 10am and got one of the last walk-ins available. The pedicure was quick and efficient;nothing fancy but it was clean and my polish looks great. Same thing with my nails- I just got the basic color but it looked great and I was in and out in about and hour for both services. The salon looked as most nail shops do- a hodgepodge of "classy" looking TJMaxx wall decor items. The ginormous crystal chandelier In the foyer was stunning albeit out of place in a nail salon. Went here today on a whim by a recommendation from a co-worker. I was not disappointed. Arrived around 11:15am for an eyebrow wax and I was immediately taken to the back room. Stacie did an excellent job, and even took the time to pluck and trim my brows (I've been to other nail salons in the loop and they usually can't be bothered to do this). NEVER GET THE MALE TECHNICIAN!!!! Let me start out by saying that I have been going to Loop Nail for 6-7 years now!! I have had wonderful experiences with all the girls there. However, I had the worst experience of my life this morning with one of the male technicians. He was extremely disrespectful and asked me to leave. And all for what.....just politely (saying please) asking him to not cut my cuticles!!! It didnt stop there, he kept bossing me around and ordering where to keep my fingers and why I should just go somewhere else. I really hope the owner reads this and keeps this guy in check. I havent felt this disrespected ever! Not sure if he just was discriminating based on my skin color/race....but wont rule that out given his behavior was so rude!!! A Seinfeld Episode moment...seriously, and speak any English? After work one evening I was a walk in and wanted to get at least a mani but was open to other services depending how I felt about the place. I was greeted by a nice young girl that was answering all my questions. This other nail tech walked up and asked her what I wanted, when she told her a mani and undecided about the pedi, this lady responded with, "is it because she lacks time or because she doesn't have money?" She said this right in front of me, given the fact she was speaking in Vietnamese and apparently had no clue I was too, Vietnamese. I speak English with no accent, so I looked at both of them and kindly said in English, "it's not a money issue, I'm just not sure about your services. "(My family owns nail salons in Florida for 20 years, so I tend to ask the questions) I was about to get the most expensive manicure and when the assigned nail tech came up to get me, that same rude lady again said to my nail tech, "she's only getting a manicure, she has no money." At this point, clearly this FOB still had no idea I understood everything, so I said, "never mind" and began to walk out. The nice girl that greeted me was like, "are you sure?" I looked at all of them and said, "For the record, I understood everything what you guys said ,about me and everyone else in here, and it is so very rude! I can't believe you guys talk about your customers right in front of them," and I walked out. Now I know how you non-asians feel in an Asian-owned nail salon! The funny thing is I look Asian and speak in clear and complete English sentences. I was dressed in designer labeled professional attire carrying a Burberry backpack. I am an expert nail chipper. Maybe it's because I'm a teacher, maybe it's that I wash too many dishes (probably not). Regardless, I wanted my nails to look nice for my trip to Hawaii and thought that it would be the perfect time to try a No Chip Manicure. After searching for coupons on line I found one for a No Chip and Pedi at Loop Nail Spa. Fortunately, they had an appointment available and I spent a blissful hour and a half getting my nails done that afternoon. Why the five stars? It's not for the interior of the spa (although it's fine), it's the fact that my nails didn't chip AT ALL for 3 weeks! You read that right, 3 WEEKS. That's three weeks with 8 of those days spent on the beach, in chlorine, and splashing around in the salt water. I have been going to Loop Nail Spa for quite a while. You can find a nail salon on just about every corner in the city in Chicago and although this one is not at my corner, it's definitely worth the walk! Keep in mind this is a busy, downtown, work-oriented salon and not a slow, non-rushed salon in the suburbs. They are and efficient, well-oiled salon and now how to juggle all of their appointments. During the busy day time they are there to get you in/out and do it right. I've been in there many, many, many times and have seen it all from empty to standing room only and nobody seems to be rattled or have a problem. They treat everybody fairly, nicely and with respect. They are all friendly and say hi even if they don't know you but recognize you as a "regular." They have been slowly going through remodeling changes and are improving all the time. The new pedicure massage chairs are top of the line, fantastic! They are always getting new products and new equipment to keep up with the times and styles. I've recently switched from "pink/white" manicures to no-chip powder gel manicures and absolutely love them! I just went yesterday and after exactly 3 weeks my nails were PERFECT, just grown out quite a bit! In fact, yesterday afternoon somebody commented on my perfect nails and fabulous dark grey color and I knew it was time to post a review as I've been meaning to give them props for a long time! So...if you're busy (or not) and want a great, regular nail salon that can do anything give Loop Nail Spa a chance and become a loyal customer like me, they are great! read more

I was a loyal customer of this nail salon for over 2 and 1/2 years not only going in to get my own manicures, pedicures, and waxings almost every single week but also referring friends and coworkers to the salon. Up until recently the salon was under different ownership and called Robert Valentino's; while the new owners have given the salon a facelift, their service leaves much to be desired. On NYE I went to the salon for a manicure, pedicure, and lip wax. During the manicure the cuticle on my left index finger was cut badly and it developed into an infection and during the lip wax the skin between my nose and upper lip was burnt by the wax. I had been getting both of these services for years and had not had this issue before. Not only was I not offered a refund for the manicure or lip wax but when I asked for one I was given only a partial one and was told that I could not come back to the salon because none of the technicians felt comfortable performing services on me since I had requested a refund! I was greatly upset at being told that despite my years of loyal patronage and referrals I could no longer get services there for asking for a refund for services where I was both burnt and infected! This left me with no other option than to put this review on this site and others in the hopes that the same infections, burns, and poor customer service will not be visited upon anyone else who may choose this salon. read more

This is my go-to place. If you go at lunchtime, you'll have to wait a little. Go before or after and you shouldn't have a problem. The techs here are really nice and do good work, but they are a little rushed when busy. I get no-chips here, and they consistently last three weeks.
