I have been here 3 times now and I absolutely love it! I switched over because it's so hard to get appointments at my previous salon. Madelyn is located in the Ogilvie building (2nd floor) and easy to get in and out of. Each time I've come, I was sat right away and the environment is peaceful and relaxing. This place would also be great for commuters because you'll be in and out to catch your train in a flash! There are always appointments available and the booking process is easy - over the phone and online. Once your appointment is made, you get a follow up text confirming your appointment. Pricing is also on point! Definitely the most affordable manicures I get and they always hold up. For each manicure, a fresh set of tools is used and you can tell the salon is well-maintained and clean. There are plenty of colors to choose from and even when I made a special nail color request, my tech layered colors for the perfect shade. The nail techs are skilled, efficient, and gentle. I've seen both Alie and Kevin, both are wonderful. I've seen Alie twice for a no-chip manicure and it held up against all the work I do with my hands. She is so friendly and gentle in her work. I saw Kevin for a Russian manicure with builder gel and my nails look fabulous. He works quickly but you wouldn't know it by looking at the end result! I had such a great experience here! I unfortunately don't remember the exact name of the nail tech who did my set--either Amy or Allie (something with an A)--but she was phenomenal. She took her time shaping and perfecting my nails with so much care and precision. I asked for a specific design and she absolutely nailed it (pun intended). One of the best parts? She actually cleaned up my cuticles!!something I've noticed a lot of nail salons don't bother with anymore. That extra attention to detail did not go unnoticed and made me feel so taken care of. The atmosphere is on the smaller side but gives off total luxury vibes. It's clean, elegant, and super calming. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, but special shout-out to the owner, Kevin. I had trouble finding parking and he literally came outside to help me figure it out. That level of service is so rare these days and really made me feel like a valued customer. The place was a cute and clean nail salon. However, my powder dip nails were poorly done. The clear top coat started peeling the next day. I called to see if I could get a partial refund to help cover the cost of getting it fixed at a salon closer to my house, but they would not offer a refund. They did say I could come back to get my nails fixed but there's no way I can drive back to the city on a weekday. And I also don't want to have the same issue again. read more

Linn W did my dip powder with glitter and was so meticulous with every step of the process. From removing my existing dip mani to trimming my cuticles and shaping my nails, it is very clear that she takes her work seriously. I was walking in with a little bit of a mix and match of almond and square shaped nails from the previous nail salon (I asked for almond) so I was a little nervous, Linn shaped and reshaped my nails until they were perfect and even had me hold hands at different angles to ensure the shape was right. The salon is tucked away on the 2nd floor by train 4 of ogilvie station, but it didn't take long to find even though it was my first time. Parking is a bit tricky since the metered street parking is off limits from 4-6pm, but I spot hero'ed in a lot two blocks away and it worked out. Overall, I had a pleasant experience. The dip powder color selection is massive and all of the technicians seem very nice. I'm excited to come back and try other designs in preparation of my wedding and will be recommending this salon to others! read more

I really hate to do this and it bothers me as I write this review, but unfortunately this is what happen when a business is sold and new owners take over who do not have the same ownership ethic as the previous owner. I have been coming to this nail salon for over 6 years when the lovely Lynn owned/ran it and prior to that going to her when she was at Loop Nail Spa. Lynn was about customer satisfaction and professionalism. These new owners are not. From my understanding they come from the South Side of the Chicago and it appear they have brought their unprofessionalism and rudeness with them downtown. I called to make an appointment to see one of the other two ladies who worked with Lynn and remain there and a guy who is the owner answered the phone, he does not understand English very well. I repeated myself 9 times asking to make an appointment for a manicure and he did not understand what I was asking for which is baffling - how do you own a nail shop and don't understand manicure!! Why are you even answering the phone at all???? He then obviously got frustrated because we were getting now where and told me to call back in 15 minutes because he did not understand. I was a little taken back when he said he did not understand so I repeated what he said "you don't understand I want a manicure?" Do you know he hung up on me??!! I was so shocked like did he really just hang up on me? A business owner?? Like is he used to doing this so much at his other shop on the South Side that he did not realize it's beyond rude and wrong??!! I really feel bad to see that this nail salon will not be what it was built to be. A very classy and posh salon going downhill because of new ownership. He's already taking the shop backward and not forward. Sadly, this happens a lot. I just really wish it was not the case here. I will not be returning ever and will just look at my pictures of my beautiful nails that Lynn created for me over the last 6 years and hope to find another talented/professional and super clean/organized nail salon again. This is an amazing hidden gem tucked inside Ogilvie Station. I've gotten both dip and no-chip for my nails with and without no-chip and they have always turn out amazing! Very comparable or ever lower prices compared to salons in the area. The nail techs are always super nice and friendly and make sure your nails look pristine every time. Linn and Susie are amazing and always super sweet and knowledgeable! They are very meticulous with every nail so note that it might take a longer time than quoted. Very clean salon with great Covid protocols. I love the fact that they are open from 7AM in the morning to add more flexibility on when I need to get my nails done in a pinch! read more

I am so disappointed by the new owners of this salon. I have been going to Madelyn Nail for 5+ years. Linn did an amazing job and everyone who worked with her was terrific. I could count on getting a very high quality gel manicure that would last weeks from Linn or anyone else. THINGS have changed! My first time scheduling an appointment, I did not realize the business had sold. I asked to get a gel manicure (w/ art) with Linn. The man on the phone kept asking if I was booking a mani/pedi. I continued to repeat gel manicure with nail art four times. When I got to the salon for the appointment he tried drawing a foot bath for a pedicure. For the fifth and then sixth time I clarified that I wanted a gel manicure with nail art. I asked where Linn was and they told me vacation, instead of being transparent. The women who did my nails was not from Linn's team she did not wear gloves throughout the appointment and was not capable of completing a very simple nail art design. Fortunately, one of Linn's original team members took over the appointment and and finished the manicure for me. Today, I had a 11:30 appointment but got caught in traffic coming from work and needed to use the bathroom before entering the salon. I called to let them know that I was running 10-15 minutes late for my 10:30 appointment. The man on the phone said okay, so I paid $10 in parking and got there at 11:45. I had booked my appointment with Susie because she does terrific work, but when I got there she had just begun service on another customer. The man told me I would have to wait 30 minutes. I was visibly irritated as I had called to let them know I was running late, so that they would not give my appointment away. I did not have time to wait while a walk-in guest was serviced before me, so I left and will bool my manicure elsewhere. I would try again because I love Susie but the guy operating the phones/new owner is incapable of the most basic communication and highly unprofessional, I can't even trust that my appointment will be honored. read more

After seeing the great reviews (and the manager's nice responses to the negative ones) I decided to try Madelyn out and get a dip manicure. My appointment took longer than I expected but I cannot be more pleased with the meticulous care taken and with the outcome. Everybody says this but I'll repeat it anyway: I'm super particular about my nails. For years, I religiously got gel over my natural nails to help them stay long. Sometimes the gel wouldn't hold and a nail would break, but I'd never done dip before because it usually looks too thick and chunky. Not today! Susie did a wonderful job on mine. Yes, it's slightly thicker than gel, but it still looks like my nails and I think they will be less prone to breaking. I definitely recommend. read more

my dip looks nice (i'm not used to not having tips, that's on me!). however, my pedicure was terrible. the guy that did my pedicure used the pumice stone on the side of my foot (not callous or rough spots at all) and tore my skin off. i was getting my fingers and toes done at the same time, so i didn't say anything because i was overstimulated. my foot was BLEEDING and dude didn't say anything about it and continued the pedicure. peeling off my socks when i got home hurt so bad. be mindful when they're using a pumice i guess. read more

The recent reviews on Google are fake. I've come to this location for pedicures for awhile since I've worked nearby for years. Like, there's a mention of massage chairs, and there are no massage chairs at this location. There was a recent change in management so prices have increased, and there's a man who hardly speaks or understands English as the "receptionist" now. He will also start work on clients' nails if the (only two) nail techs are busy, when it's obvious he doesn't know what he's doing and I doubt he's certified to do so. This is not good. This nail salon was already a hit or miss before the change, but now it's best to go elsewhere. read more

This is the best nail salon in Chicago! I moved here from California and was trying to find a new spot. I tried at least 5 different salons in the area and nothing compares to Madelyn! They are always very organized with timing appointments so you are never waiting or feel rushed. I regularly get no chip pedicures and dip manicures and every single time it's a fantastic job. They have a really big selection of colors and even do an amazing job with nail art. The salon is very clean and I have had multiple techs do my nails and they all do an amazing job. I'm super bummed because I truly want to like Madelyn's and because all of the girls are super friendly and they know their regulars well but after my nails didn't even last 24 hours, I think I am officially moving on. I noticed my pinky nail after I left, it wasn't fully painted, and later yesterday afternoon, my thumb was already chipped. This morning, the polish on one nail has completely popped at the tip and is about to peel off. I decided to investigate the rest of my nails and my manicure looks as if it's two+ weeks old already. I hate to share this but either the polishes are old or something else in the process is off because I've never experienced consistently faulty manicures from other nail salons. I'll have to make an appointment at my go-to salon in my neighborhood and spend another $50 on a manicure the very day after spending $48 on one. Bummed to say the least. read more

Nice little nail salon right next to the train station super convenient for travellers to treat themselves on their way back home if feasible..they have 5-6 folks assisting here.. i would suggest taking an appointment cos they to tend to be busy most of the days and it is hard to get an appointment.. very friendly staff happily chatting amongst themselves and with the customers.. very cheerful bunch of folks here..backstreet boys fans as well and i am not complaining as i grew up listening to them back home..got pedicure done here and was super satisfied with the outcome they did not rush to get my pedi done inspite of many customers walking in on a busy friday evening..they took their time to provide elite services..totally worth every penny..due to my own fault and stupidity (i wore closed toe shoes) and hence ruined my nail paint within a 2 min walk but the ladies here were so kind to do a free fix for my destroyed toe nails the next morning..this is true customer service! Was very disappointed with my recent visit. I came in to use a gift card I received for Xmas for $75, and it was not honored as they are under new management? We never were notified and the card was not honored. They agreed it was "money down the toilet." I feel this should have been honored as I am a repeat customer. But not anymore! In addition, I got my normal treatment, the gel dip extensions, and the size of the extensions didn't actually match my my nail width. Does not look good now that it is growing out, only been a week. Beware! New mgmt must also mean new technicians, and they won't honor your gift cards. So disappointed. Way to take our money for nothing in return. Shame on you. read more

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a nail salon. I wanted to cry. They filed my nails crooked. thw design I showed them was wrong and mind you I asked them twice if she could actually do it or if I should stick to just off-white nail polish. the design was horrible like actually laughable. I had them take it off it was that bad... first time I've ever done that but it was that bad. i took pictures but I don't know how to post them.
