from beginning to end, i received excellent customer service. i spoke with someone on the phone to book my appointment, and they were very polite. when i arrived, the front desk staff was just as welcoming, and my nail tech was an absolute sweetheart. truly 10s across the board for the entire team. they also offer coffee and water, which is such a nice touch. i got the golden spa luxury pedicure ($90) and a no-chip gel manicure ($48), plus the gel add-on ($20) for the pedicure. the service itself was lovely--my tech was professional, attentive, and clearly knew what she was doing, which always makes a difference. i'm really happy with the results, and after walking all over chicago these past few days, my feet are definitely thanking me! i would absolutely recommend this place and will be returning next time i'm back in chicago. read more

I moved from LA to Chicago in October and hadn't gotten around to finding a new nail salon until March. After perusing Yelp reviews for nail salons in my area, it seemed the consensus was that Refine was a cut above the rest. I walked in late Friday morning and was seated in a comfortable massage chair for my pedicure within 10 minutes. Mandy took great care of my neglected feet. After a relaxing pedicure, she walked me over to the nail stations for my Gel X full set. At that point, I realized I might be cutting it close to my next appointment that afternoon. Mandy went to work quickly and made sure I got a perfect set of nails in time for my next appointment. The location is convenient with plenty of street parking. The space is beautiful and clean. And the service is friendly and welcoming, including making sure guests have drinks and are comfortable and satisfied. I'm happy to have found my new Chicago nail spot! read more

Their selection of polish is decent - but would say if you're going normal polish they have the main hits and not every OPI color you see online. I visited this place with a friend as we are prepping for an upcoming travel. We had a prior appointment and check-in process was relatively very smooth. My friend and I selected classic pedicure, she selected the rose fragrance and I went with lemon. The pedicure was very relaxing and the specialist even massaged my ankles. We were then moved to adjacent seats for our nails. My friend got a dip powder and I went ahead with gel paint. The specialist was very patient with the design and requirement needs. She was able to mimic my design very easily based on the reference image I provided. I was VERY impressed by her skill and art. Overall, a great experience and I will surely come back. The place is clean and tidy. From price point, it is definitely a bit on the expensive side, but their efforts and end result are worth the buck! read more

My friend and I swung by Refine Nails spa to prepare for a trip coming up. We got the classic pedi, and I got the dip mani with design while my friend got the gel mani with design. The spa looks fairly new and the ambience was clean. We could tell that they have good sanitation overall. We had a prior appointment so the check in was a breeze. The owner recommended creating an account to accumulate points so we did that. We started off with the pedi. They offer two different scrubs for the pedi, and my friend and I chose the lemon and rose scrubs respectively. The pedicure was great! They used tons of lotion to moisturize after too. My experience, however, was not the greatest for my manicure. There were no chairs available for a mani so my tech continued to do my mani at the pedicure chair itself which was a bit uncomfortable. While doing so, she shaped my nails a bit tilted. When I gave her this feedback, she started getting defensive. We finally had a mani chair available next to my friend and moved there. The rest of the session went smooth until the design part came. My design was very simple, yet the tech kept on messing it up and wiping it off. She was also constantly on her phone while doing my manicure. Overall, it took us more than 2 hrs at the salon which was frustrating for sure. They also didn't inform us earlier about the different pricing for the nail shapes and the design. My friend was charged $45 for the design while I was charged $20 and we were left surprised. They later explained how my friend had a design on every nail, hence the higher price. It would have been ideal to be informed of this earlier so that there were no surprises. Regardless, the end result was good. I might swing by again but with a different nail tech as the one I had was a bit annoying. read more

The quality of the acrylic nails I got was GREAT. I didn't experience any lifting at all, even after 3-4 weeks. I had shown the nail tech the inspiration I had for my nails, and it definitely feels like it was kind of ignored, but they still came out so pretty. The nails just didn't suit me. I didn't really enjoy the pedicure treatment, it felt rushed and didn't really feel good when the woman was massaging my feet. The water wasn't warm enough and I was too scared to ask her to turn it up a bit. The paint she put on my toenails lasted a very long time, though. read more

Got gel x here fresh set nails started lifting after 1 week. The tech also had to start over three times on my right hand and all I was getting was French tips. Went back to get nails fixed once they started lifting and another nail tech made the two new ones way shorter after I told her they didn't line up with the other hand. The seats for pedicure are also hard and uncomfortable for a new shop. The salon is pretty and staff are professional but if you are looking for good quality long lasting work for the price I would go elsewhere. read more
