I came here Sunday to get my nails done, they were located within walking distance from where I was staying. I called around 10 am to set up an appointment and they couldn't get me in until 4pm which wasn't a problem. The shop is located inside a little shopping center place, once you're in the building just go down the stairs & you will see it. This salon is very small, they only have 3 manicure tables and 3 pedicure chairs here. The woman who did my pedicure didn't speak to me at all. I understand there can be a language barrier... but when she needed me to switch feet or something she just looked at me until I eventually got the hint lol. The woman who did my fill was really nice! She did a fast & good job and gave me a mini hand massage also. I think this place is way too pricey for the atmosphere and mediocre service. My total was $90 for a gel fill and basic pedicure, which is way more than I usually pay! read more

AMAZING service! I called and hour before my lunch break to see if they could fit me in. To my surprise, they said they could fit my no chip mani and pedi for my hour lunch. I came in my lunch and they servicceeeed me! Had one nail tech on my feet and one nail tech for each of my hands, in total of 3 nail techs working on me! I do not know what's up with all the bad reviews, but straight from a girl who's picky about her pedicures (and rightfully so, I have webbed toes!), this place was AWESOME. First off, clean and quiet. Second off, made an appointment and they actually honored it. Didn't get there to see they gave preference to a walk-in who arrived 5 minutes before I did, so that was good. Then, state-of-the-art massage chairs. Even my butt was getting a knead and a roll. The guy worked for about 50 minutes on my toes (this wasn't even the "deluxe" version, mind you). Then over to the nails. Great job, awesome color selection. Best part...$30. Next door is "Spa Emilia," which no-doubt is a little fancier, but I've been there too and I honestly prefer Elegant Nails. Spa Emilia doesn't have massage chairs, is WAY more expensive, and they use a mixing bowl filled with water for the "foot spa." Needless to say, I don't get why next-door-neighbor, Elegant Nails, isn't slammed all the time. read more

I got a mani/pedi here last Saturday. I ended up here because the first place I went to couldn't fit me in. I was told the wait would be "5-10" minutes, the wait was actually 20 minutes. My experience was not great nor was it terrible just mediocre. Next time I'm visiting my grandma I'll make an appointment in advance for the other place. read more

I'm mad. I literally live 1 minute walking from here and wanted to love it so bad. The Good: Staff is professional, nice and don't talk my ear off. It's small but clean. They are dedicated to their job. The Bad: I'm probably getting jipped. My big mouth wants to say first thing that I just moved here from the NYC area and looking for a new salon. Well that was stupid of me since the two times I've gone here I have paid $50 for a re-fill! Yes, $50 for a refill on my gel nails. My refills back in Jersey and NYC were $20! $40 for a full set. I hope she is treating herself with my extra money. If I am wrong someone please reach out to me. The color selection isn't very wide for the gel colors and it's a bit small so you either end up waiting a while for the 2 manicurist or get lucky and go when they are not busy (usually around 2pm weekdays in my opinion). The Horrible: I probably will keep coming here because it's so convenient and the nail job isn't that bad (I've had way better for less though) and I'll probably be too lazy to go somewhere else and keep getting jipped $50. read more

I've searched high and low in this area for a good nail salon and I've finally found this hidden JEM!!! I actually walked into the salon across the hall and they were extremely snobby and rude so I walked out and I'm so glad I did. This place is clean and friendly and I like that they are small, it makes you feel like they truly value quality not quantity. I received the deluxe pedi and I have to say it was great and even better was the reasonable price. They have gained a new loyal customer and I will tell everyone I know. I even got my bf who was loyal to a Lincoln park salon to change. I can't say enough about it other then it's clean, friendly, relaxing, and no harsh chemical smells!!!!! read more

You get what you pay for. $30 for a mani/pedi. Any day of the week. Great if you're in a rush and just need a quick pedicure. Not great if you're looking for an indulgent pampering session. They are very friendly. And I like that it was quiet and there was no obnoxious music playing. I am a stickler for cleanliness and it didn't seem dirty but it didn't seem clean either. I agree with the reviewer who said she spent 5 minutes scrubbing both of her feet combined. Not enough pampering and scrubbing. So came in here for a pedicure, left with nicely painted toes and toe nail fungus. Embarrassing, but a word of caution to anyone else considering getting a pedicure here. Be cautious of how little time they allow between customers in the nail chair. Worst no chip & worst manicure I have ever gotten. They train their employees to do a sloppy job and then go back to fix it with a brush?! All this does is make the area by my cuticles look entirely uneven and grown out by weeks when I got this no chip 3 days ago... oh and did I mention it's already CHIPPED?! It honestly makes me sad to leave this review because I have been going here for years, but I made an appointment and when I went to show up, NO ONE was there, the shop was closed even tho I had an actual appointment. I called and no one answered, I left a voicemail describing how upset I was that I took time out of my work day to get my nails done and they couldn't bother to contact me with any explanation. I stopped at Elegant Nails on a Saturday afternoon for a basic manicure. I did not have an appointment and did not have to wait. The price was inexpensive, only $14. Sometimes you can find a bargain price for a great mani, but in this case I got what I paid for. The lady who did my manicure cut my cuticles to the point of bleeding on three different fingers (one of them was still tender to the touch three days after). They had a decent selection of colors (and Essie, a plus) but the polish was thin and the top coat was lazily applied. By Tuesday, the polish was so badly chipped I had to remove it. The manicure lasted only 72 hours. I've never had a manicure that failed so quickly. In this case, it was fine because I only wanted my nails to look decent for a wedding I was attending on Saturday night, but if I were looking for a weekly manicure there's no way I would go to this place. There's another nail salon in the same building that I would try, however. Overall: stark interior, decent selection of Essie polish, no nail dryers for fingers or toes, saw Seche Vite top coat on one table but not all. I mention it because Seche Vite is the best top coat I've found and the only thing I use when doing my nails at home--it's a must if you don't have a nail dryer. read more

this place is a hidden gem! really glad i decided to try this place out due to me desperately needing a fill. elegant nails is located right next to ultimate exposure, on 21 west elm street. i always walk past it while going into the tanning salon, but today i thought i would finally walk in and not lurk past it. my experience was a great one and i really did love everything about this little taste of heaven! they had all the color swatches i was looking for, ranging from OPI to Essie polishes. which included alot of different pastels for the spring season :) since i've been traveling for a few weeks i haven't had a chance to get to a nail salon to get my nails fixed up. the technicians spent alot of time on me and ended up giving me a new set of nails. I was in there for about two hours, but it was worth it. I really love salons where they spend time working on your nails and making you feel welcome. This salon did just that. The woman did an amazing job. Think this is the best my nails have looked in a while. Also the prices are something you really can't beat in this area. 30 dollars special for a mani pedi!?! 15 for a fill 30 for a new set of acrylic nails. they also have other services including waxing, no chip manicure, and nail designs. the only reason why i'm not giving this place five stars is because since it's so small they don't have a "drying" station to dry your toes or feet. just little old school mini fans, kinda odd yet can't complain due to the service i received. will be back :) read more

Don't waste your time or money... place was empty when I walked in, and the woman in the shop didn't even turn around from sorting the nail polish bottles on the wall to greet me when I said, "Hello." Then she tried to sell me on a full pedi when I just wanted a polish change on my toes and a manicure. The polish change was sloppy, the pedi sandals and toe separators re-used (Yuck!) and she didn't bother to use a base coat at all. The mani wasn't much better, she complained that my nails were short (I have to keep them that way for work as a massage therapist) and didn't really bother to file or buff them, I think she took maybe 9 minutes to give me a "full" mani. And the only person who bothered to say good bye to me was another guest that entered after I did! Again, in an area with so many choices for nail services... don't waste time or money here. read more

not really a fan of this place...went here for a full set of acrylics and a pedicure was not impressed with what I got. The shop itself is small and less than state of the art. No massage chairs and a definitely sub-par pedicure. I think the tech spent a total of 5 mins scrubbing both of my feet combined....she did an OK job with the polish, but when I want a pedicure, I want my feet to feel better than they did when I walked in....not the case here. Lena and her hubby run a tight operation. I've tried ALL the nail salons in the Gold Coast, from cheap chic to "boutique", ahem, pricey joints. Element Nails is the best choice for excellent price & high quality, with the added bonus of friendly customer service. They are hard working who take pride in their business -- as their salon is clean, stocked with a decent selection of colors, recent magazines, and TV. And it does not stink of toxic fumes in there, like California Nails & Vickie's. I held off on writing this post in an effort to keep them a "hidden gem", but I've gotta give them some love! read more

They are all very talented nail artists, highly skilled professional and fast. The Massage pedicure chairs are super relaxing, and the Spa pedicure is the best!! and it gives new life to tired feet!, a pedicure, with an exfoliating sugar foot polish, and a mask with a hot stone foot and lower leg massage in addition to a beautiful application of polish to your happy toes you literally melt in the seat! They don't have drying machines, my nails break after a manicure (my nails never break), and the employee spends 2 seconds giving hand/foot massages. I really, really wanted to like this place. It's relatively close to me and after searching Yelp for a few hours for a decently priced nail salon in my new neighborhood, I settled on this one. Unfortunately, that's where I went wrong. I walked into the place (quaint) and was greeted and everyone was fairly friendly. I made an appointment for a no-chip mani and pedicure. The pedicure was great! One of the better ones I have had actually. The massage chairs were pleasant as well. I had the husband of the place (only male there at the time) who did my pedicure. It did take much longer than normal, but he did such a great time, I had no complaints. It was all DOWN hill from there. His wife, I presume, took over from there to do my chip. She did not ask me what shape I wanted, but based on how my nails looked when I came in, I figured she just knew I wanted them to be square. Sadly, no. My nails came out not round and not square. They were so uneven. The actual manicure looked awful, just awful. The color is uneven throughout the nail surface as well. It's deeper and more color in some sections vs others. She also cut into my cuticles some. The nail painting was sloppy - it looked like I did them myself (and I'm just bad - that's why I don't do them!). I literally had polish on my skin on the sides of the nails. One nail has already chipped less than a week later. It was just not a pleasant experience and my nails looked horrible. I have a wedding out of town this weekend and had to get my nails re-done because they looked so bad. I really don't know how the reviews are so strong from other yelpers, but I will definitely not be going back. I would not recommend the shop to others either. read more

I gave this nail salon a chance because they are in my neighborhood. Big mistake. They have one light to do the no chip manicures and you have to wait a long time to get your finish your manicure. The tech I had did a terrible job with the no chip. Not sure she was full trained. Small chip within two days. My nails never chip. There is no massage for your manicure and nothing more then rubbing lotion in on your legs. I like a to go to the nail salon to distress and relax. I did not feel this way wile I was there or after.
