My tech did a great job and was very communicative about where she needed by feet when. I'm not sure if I caught Anh on a bad day, but after today, I will never return to this nail salon. I was referred by a friend whose nails are always so cute, and I was excited to visit for my birthday nails. Anh is very talented and my nails turned out nice, but she was rude and unpleasant. At the beginning of my appointment, I politely asked a question about one of the colors she was using and her entire vibe shifted. She already wasn't very friendly, but I don't mind that. I don't expect anyone to talk to me the whole time during a service; the problem is her communication. She was very curt in her responses, so much so that I asked multiple times if I had done something wrong or if I had made her upset. She seemed very annoyed with me for the entirety of my appointment. At the end, I paid (and tipped) and asked if there was something I did that might have been incorrect. I asked if it's normal for people to ask questions throughout their service, and she responded that I didn't do anything and she was fine. I was looking forward to revisiting because I'm trying to have more fun nails this summer, but it was an extremely disappointing experience. Again, I think Anh's work is beautiful. Never again. Not even worth the try. New location looks very cute, but the service was nothing like what I expected given how packed it was. I got a pedicure with no polish, but also needed the existing gel polish on my toes removed. The service was over in 23 mins. I looked down at my toes thinking I had dropped something on my toes -- they looked bruised. NOPE. After I left, I realized it was tons of left over gel polish that she didn't remove! Good service, clean salon and reasonable price (was $65 for chrome no chip nails) but I found that my nails chipped within a few days. Usually when I get my nails done, they look pretty new for at least a week and a half. I lift at the gym but besides that, I don't use my hands aggressively or anything. Extreme disappointed with KA nail studio. I've been getting Russian manicures for the past 2 years. But I wanted to switch it up and try some place new. That's where I went wrong $105 for a gel overlay with cat eye design is wild but I still paid as the nails came out beautiful. Literally 3 DAYS later I have 6 chipped nails this has never happened to me before as I get my nails done monthly $75 and my nails don't chip. The quality of products they use is definitely not worth your money you're better off going to a solo nail tech! I do not recommend unfortunately read more

Was recommended by a friend to come here for acrylic nail extensions and design! Overall price was $105 with a $50 deposit beforehand, which is something I think is reasonable and is worth the money. I decided to go with Ahn, but it seems that some people apply the actual acrylics while Ahn is the one who does the filing and design. I didn't know of this beforehand so that confused me at first but I don't particularly mind it. The person who did place my acrylics on messed up two nails, meaning I had to get them taken off, something that did add time to my appointment but again I am appreciative that they caught the mistake early. I really liked the nails done and they have lasted a week so far with no problems. I plan to go get a fill done withing two weeks and am excited for the new nail opportunities I will have! read more

Found this place on Instagram and so glad I did because the designs are great every single time! As mentioned before, they are pretty pricey with a gelx and design being about $100-$150 but I do think you get what you pay for. I've been about four times now and my nails never break and the designs are so cute! Everyone is really nice in there and the playlists are always a vibe. I've been going to Ann for many years at this point and have followed her to several nail studios because she is SIMPLY THE BEST!!! I had been getting dip manicures for a longggggg time but developed an allergy to the dip about a year ago. After my appointments, I would get bad headaches and sinus problems, and I realized that it always coincided with getting my nails done. I was so bummed, but Ann suggested switching to GelX instead of dip, and I haven't had had allergic reactions since the switch! (I also wear a mask in the salon to be extra cautious.) I LOVE GelX - they are super strong and I can usually go 4-5 weeks between appointments. I have been going there for over a year and always had a great experience. this time was a different story. the station was dirty. nothing was clean. but I went to tech that I never been to. I should have left it was by far the worst manicure I ever had. my nails were not even had to ask her 3 times to fix the shape because it wasn't what I asked for, she cut my cuticles so short I asked her to stop. the worst part is my polish bubbled and cracked after 1hour. I called the salon to get a refund and the owner was so rude refused to give me a refund. I explained the polish bubble and cracked within the hour and my cuticles were bleeding. now I'm going to have to dispute it with my credit card company. please do not go there just for the fact that the owner was awful. read more

I previously gave this place a 5 star but after years of going to Ann for my nails but unfortunately my review has changed with the change in the quality of her work. I have been getting my nails done with Ann for about 6-7 years now. She used to be a new nail tech at a nail place I went to in Lincoln Park. Then she decided to open up her own little studio salon which I followed her to since I liked the quality of her work and attention to detail. Eventually she became more successful and opened up a bigger salon at her current location. I continued to get my nails done with her and support her business. Since about a year now I have seen the quality of my nails and her attention to detail has been declining. Unfortunately this is one of those stories where she became so cocky now that she's more successful. She doesn't care about clients who have been loyal to her since she was a new nail tech working at a mediocre salon. She thinks she's the best in the industry and no one is better than her in Chicago. She herself has told me "yeah my prices are high but my quality and work is also the best so that's why I charge more" ummm yeah no that is definitely not the case now. Now that she's making enough money where she doesn't have to work for clients' trust or keep their trust she thinks she can say whatever she wants and the client can't even question the quality of her work. I recently had two terrible back to back experiences with my nails and I never have complained about my nails in the past. After these two times in a row I felt like I had to start speaking up since seemed like she was getting comfortable with her mediocre level of work with me not saying anything to her about it. Well when I did speak up she turned it around on me and stated I was judging her work and she doesn't think that clients should be paying attention to every little detail and questioning her work. Umm they are my nails and I am paying for a service I have every right to question whatever I want. Too bad she didn't like that. I already found a nail salon better than her and her ego. When you ask her why they are different or why they are falling off 1 week after getting them done her answer is "I don't know I didn't do anything differently" if there is that big of a difference clearly something was done differently. I'm not dumb. I have been getting gel-x done for years and I am well aware of the steps that go along with gel-x. Also I have been so patient with all her constant distractions during my nail appt. She gets up numerous times to assist her new nail techs, watch over how they're cleaning the space, telling them what to do and also checking in clients walking in through the door. No wonder my nail quality has decreased significantly. I am paying for her time and her nail services and she acts like she is doing me a favor. I have also witnessed her being rude and yelling at her nail techs even when they're under training. She also talks badly about her other clients to me while she is doing my nails. One time I walked in without makeup on since I had a very early appt and she asked me why I look so tired and stressed. I told her I recently had a knee injury and just been in pain and also just woke up early to make it to my appt on time. She started laughing and saying "oh I never look stressed even when I have a lot going on you will never see the stress on my face." Okay I don't care what you think you look like and don't make comments on how I look either. I did not say anything to her when she laughed at me and said this to me but it was obviously rude and uncalled for. Just goes to show how much she respects her clients. She also never said my name right even though I've been her client for so many years. Every time I corrected her she would ignore me and continue to say it wrong. Again just shows how disrespectful she is and doesn't have the common human decency to be nice and respectful to her clients or her employees. I can get mediocre work done on my nails at a lower price and better customer service elsewhere, why pay $160 for this quality when you can pay less. I recommend you save your money and go elsewhere. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this salon and the women that work there. I usually get my nails done by Ann, but have gotten work done by Q as well. The photos of the designs speak for themselves, you can show these girls, including katelyn, anything and they can do it. They are incredibly sanitary, I've gone to salons before where my finger started bleeding & they will just ignore it, but Ann is always incredibly vigilant and takes great care of me. . From the outside the space looks really nice. However, the pedicure seats don't provide massages, are stained with nail polish, and are quite uncomfortable. When making an appointment, the salon insisted on a $50 deposit which is unusual, but I can understand that last minute no-shows can hurt a nail techs income. They also insist that you pay cash, which again is odd and highly inconvenient (who has cash on them these days?). The major problem was the actual nail service itself. My apres x nails, which my technician insisted she could do "perfectly" and cost $110 (!!) are a complete mess, and started peeling everywhere just the morning after the appointment. I went back the next morning to get them fixed, but literally hours later they started peeling again. Having to go in twice to get nails fixed that theoretically last 5 weeks leads me to believe they're providing a service that they aren't trained to do. They are not the worst nails in the world, but for a luxury price point these are NOT a luxury result. read more

Recently I wanted to get some designs on my nails , which my regular nail lady doesn't do , so I decided to do some research on shops near me. A friend of mine recommend this nail salon , and told me to make an appointment with Ann. I called in two weeks ago and made that appointment and specifically asked for Ann. I even had them confirm the appointment and who it was with , before the call ended. Being that it was my first time there , I obviously didn't know what she looked like. I walked in this morning for my appointment , as I walked in a worker who as walking in ahead of me, asked what I needed and I mentioned that I had an appointment for 10am with Ann. Someone else said something to her and she told me to go sit in her chair. Assuming that she was Ann , because that's who I made the appointment with when I made the appointment, and that's the name I gave when asked what I needed , I sat down. I finished my nails and pedicure and left. The woman was kind and my nails came out pretty, but my pinky nails were chopped off. They're way too short. And they don't match the length of my natural nails. Which is means I go back to my regular place in two weeks , I have to chop off my nails to make them all even. After speaking to the friend who recommended this salon , she informed me that she didn't think it was Ann who did my nails. After going to their IG page , I realized that it was wasn't her who did my nails. She was actually on the other side of the salon doing someone else's nails. Im not sure if she went double booked or something , but I'm a bit bothered that the person I made the nail appointment with , and the name I mentioned when I walked in , isn't the person who did my nails. Kinda makes me feel duped being that I was a first time customer and obviously wouldn't have known I was getting someone other than who I made the appointment with. Ive been seeing Ann at KA Studios for a little over 6 months now. I first went for my wedding nails (the lace flowers). I was so impressed that Ann free hand drew my nail design inspired by my wedding flowers and my dress. Ann was kind enough to open early, she was very supportive and honest about what would look good in photos. I was sold. The nails (gelx) last through my camping honeymoon, a full 7 weeks later! I have been going back regularly, with more abstract ideas, like today I just showed up with pictures from my favorite childhood book, The Grinch, and Ann hand drew without any prep time my grinch set. Ann is always kind and welcoming to me. To the point that she remembers my old designs, remembers the shape and length I like without me having to say anything. I usually do not write reviews, but I feel like in this case I really need to warn people of my experience. I just moved to LP and needed to find a new nail salon. I've been getting my nails done from the same place and have never had an issue with my nail strength, breaking, etc. I went to KA and immediately they started sanding down my nails. My nails feel so flimsy, two of them have already broke. My nail lady was switching between me and another girl at the beginning, so it took almost two hour for them to finish for a no-chip manicure. I will say the paint looked great, but I now have two nails completely down to the numb because they have broke (which has never happened to me before) and I really believe that it was because of the practices that KA Studios used on my nails.
