We called in around 3:30pm to ask if they had availability for four walk-in manicures and one pedicure. We all needed various services. One "no chip manicure," one dip nails, two full-set acrylics, and the regular pedicure. Thankfully, they were able to get us in quickly. All three nail technicians were kind and worked quickly to take care of us. They have news on one tv and music videos in another. It's super chill in here, and none of us felt rushed. We would absolutely return for another quick girls' day. read more

pros - cheap tools are in a sealed packet cons - I did not experience the often mentioned friendliness. When I came in and said I had a one o'clock appointment, I was greeted with a blank look and motioned to sit at nearest manicure station. Eventually I asked to see the color selection and was brought a few colors. I asked if that was all they had and was told it was. A technician removed the top layer of my gel polish and put some goop on it. While waiting for this to soak in, I asked someone else if there were more colors, something more sparkly? I was brought a further selection still not what I was hoping for Wound up with a lumpy, overly glittery manicure. It's the holidays so I can live with the glitter. Had to file some rough edges when I got home. BTW they do not do cat eye. The forgivable unavoidable Xmas music was too loud. When you turn on the bathroom light it produces a deafening racket. Obviously others have fared much better at this place Good luck! read more

This is hands down my favorite place to get a pedicure. They also do great manicures but I'm normally there for the pedicures. This is a byob establishment which is nice, but what sets then apart is their general interest in their customers. They're always very friendly talking about places to see or events happening in the city. By the second time I was greeted like I had been going there forever. Their prices are more than reasonable and on specific days they have deals so I'd definitely check those out. My pedicure is normally $30 with tip and I've looked around and lots of places around the city are $40 or more standard. If you're looking for a great place for nails I would strongly recommend checking out Hollywood Nails. I won't go anywhere else! read more

For months I had been looking for a new place to get my nails done as my old regular salon closed due to COVID- Hollywood Nails was everything I needed and wanted. They are only opening currently for booked appointments which makes the COVID protocols very safe and in tact. The entire salon was very clean. At the time of my appointment I was the only one booked, so Mike opened the salon just for my pedicure and I'm very grateful for that! The service was exceptional and talking with Mike truly felt like I was talking to someone I had known for years. On top of his awesome personality the finished product on my nails looked fantastic. Thank you! I will absolutely be returning and highly recommend this place to everyone. Just be sure to call and schedule an appointment in advance (at least during COVID). read more

Great spot! Super simple walk in appointment. I had heard this was a great spot from friends and via Yelp. Brought a friend with and we both got Gel manicures. $30 each and very attentive staff. Clean area and friendly people. They don't use social media or online much so call if you have questions about an appointment or their hours during the holidays. read more

Was looking for a new nail salon and this place is definitely my go to now! I had a horrible ingrown toe nail and Nancy was so nice and gentle! Completely pain free now. Recently moved to the neighborhood and tried this place for the first time 2 weeks ago. Had a no chip and a pedicure. The people were nice and I was excited to come back. I didn't expect to be back the next day as my nails had already started chipping. The owner, Nancy, stopped doing another customer to fix mine. Which I appreciated, but felt badly for the other customer. I decided to give them another shot and came in again last night. I arrived at 6:40pm and told them I needed to be done with the no chip by 7:30 and asked if they could do it... they said yes. At 7:30, my nails had not even been started to be painted. They told me I had unrealistic expectations and they can't rush. Nancy tried to make it right by only charging me half as I didn't leave until 7:55pm and only had time for 2 coats. This might be the worst manicure I've received (bad shape, uneven, thin cheap polish). There's lots of options in the neighborhood, try somewhere else. It seems like if you're not their regular client, you're less important. read more

My other half and I just had another fantastic manicure and pedicure! They are very mindful about COVID with plexi glass separating the seats. Appointment only allows them to space the clients through out the day. This is the best place we've been over the years and highly recommend them!! read more

This place is a hidden gem! I went for the first time recently and they did an amazing job on my regular mani/pedi! Really good prices too! I've gone to other places where a mani/pedi is 50+ without tip included and for no super amazing experience or anything special with my manicure/pedicure. And people work there been living in the neighborhood for a long time to so you definitely get to know them and have that sense of one-on-one/ knowing the employees. And they were accommodating for my schedule due to work and crazy traffic. I highly recommend this place! read more

This place is amazing. I don't know how to describe it except that it felt like a home away from home! Everyone is so kind and personable. Everyone that walked in or was there has been a regular for 10, 15, 20 years. But my newbie status did not defer to any different treatment than the veteran regular clients. Honestly the worst no chip manicure I have ever gotten. I came in because I had gotten a no-chip elsewhere maybe a week and a half prior, and my nails were breaking. I was immediately berated for choosing to use OPI nail polish because it isn't easy to take off... this is a ubiquitous nail polish, and no where else I have ever been has had an issue with taking it off. The woman that did my nails literally used her OWN nails to scrape off my polish. It was rough and hurt. I will say that she did do a fantastic job fixing my broken nails. But beyond that everything else was horrible. Because it took so long for her to get my polish off, she did a total rush job on my manicure. I asked for the same shape I had (almond) and ended up with much shorter roundish square nails. They weren't even painted to the edges or cuticles. On top of everything else, after getting a lecture about not using OPI, the brand she insisted I used was rippling under the UV light, so my nails didn't even look smooth. I appreciate that they fixed my broken nails, but this total hour and a half experience for a manicure was pretty awful otherwise. read more

From the moment I walked in here to get a no-chip manicure, I felt something was "off," and the red flags kept building up until I got to the point where I walked out. I had zero confidence that the manicure would turn out well and I didn't stick around to find out. The no-chip colors are poorly organized -- though the selection is small and not particularly up-to-date, the bottles are scattered all over the back wall, sometimes still in boxes. There's no palette you can look at; you're stuck guessing how it'll turn out based on the colors of the bottle caps, which we all know are often highly inaccurate. The lady kept second-guessing my choices, too -- I'd pick one and she'd immediately offer other options instead. I guess she was trying to get me to use her preferred brand instead of my trusted OPI. I had the same experience as Lauren M, where it took a full 30+ minutes just to remove my existing no-chip. The lady used a buffer, not a file, to make the tiniest dent in the polish's surface before soaking... and was somehow surprised when it wouldn't come off. I was berated for having chosen an OPI polish (I'm pretty sure the polish I had on was Essie, not OPI, but that's beside the point). To scrape it off, they used a wooden cuticle stick, not the metal spoon remover designed for this job. Not only that, they used the *point* of the chisel tip to repeatedly scratch a skinny line into the polish. It was unnecessarily painful and confusing. She also scraped it with her own fingernails, similar to what other reviewers have mentioned. When they finally finished removing the old job, I bounced. I offered to pay just for the soak-off (they insisted it was free, which was nice, I guess) and headed to another salon to finish the job. read more

You want to know why I always come back to this place? Not only is the service amazing, but they do their job SO WELL. The attached pictures of my nails are from *four weeks* after I got a no-chip from them. They still haven't chipped. This place gives you great service and consistent quality. I wish I could put 6 stars down because this place does it! as soon as I walked in, the son of the owner welcomed me immediately and invited me to discuss some of the news that has been circling over real issues... nancy, the owner welcomed me and was patient as I take forever to pick a color. she then took her time on my acrylic full set & her and I chatted back and forth like we knew one another for months! I love her energy and the fact this shop is ran by a family. right before I left nancy even shared her viet potato with me! ha! definitely recommend this place to everyone looking to get a top quality manicure !!! read more

Getting your nails done here is like hanging out with good friends...... If you can get in. Twice now i've walked by at 10:30 for a manicure and twice they were not open. Yesterday, they finally were. As we walked in there was a gentleman playing on his phone - he seemed a little annoyed but once we were in the chairs he was very kind. We chatted about the constant construction that goes on outside their business.. I can imagine it gets pretty tiresome. Nancy, the mom, had just heated up fish in the microwave and apologized for the smell. It didn't bother me, but I could imagine it would to someone else. My pedicure was great, and he said I could come back within the week to get a touch up if it started to chip. $25 for pedi is a great deal read more

A $12 manicure in Lakeview, check it! It has been 5 days since my little "spruce up" at Hollywood Nails...and nary a chip. For real!? Yes. It's actually quite amazing, based on my demolition work this week at my home, coupled with mucho typing, and the brittle weather/warm weather swings.... NO CHIPS. $12. I would have addressed this in store, but the lighting was so bad I genuinely thought it looked okay (minus one cut I could see, which I laughed off because accidents happen). Was so disappointed when I got home and saw the damage (it was even uncomfortable to sleep on that side from how raw my skin was). Don't go here for threading, the lighting is bad (which I'm sure makes it hard for the people threading your eyebrows) and the chairs do not lean back (it was so uncomfortable and I've never had my eyebrows threaded at a place that doesn't have you lean back to give the threader a better look at your brows in the light without shadows).

When I went home, I had a large burn underneath my eyebrow. I immediately went back and asked to speak to a manager about the burn that was beginning to ooze under my eye. The lady at the front desk said she was the manager but did not know the protocol for if someone was burned besides to put a note in my client portal to not put me with Andrea again. She also said she would give me my money back however she technically could not give me a wax pass back so really there was no solution. At this point I asked what their burn protocol was and they said that they did not have one, and she tried putting a tester product that the general public uses on the open wound. I could not think of anything more unsafe for an open wound. I left asking the manager to contact me and she never did. Not only is this extremely unsafe, but I am beyond disappointed that a company does not have any protocol for burning someone's face/eyes. The lack of accountability is absolutely gross for this company and I understand why people are not continuing with European Wax Center. If it were me, I would go to the threading center two stores down.

I was able to book an appointment day of through the website which was super convenient. After checking in, I waited for maybe a minute or two before being introduced to my stylist, Gaetano. Right away he sat me down and started inspecting my hair (it was clear I hadn't been in for a trim in quite some time...busted!). He asked me what I was looking for and made suggestions for a cut and style. During the wash, he used a shampoo and conditioner that was particular to my hair needs. The head and neck massage was much needed and so good! Gaetano took time and care cutting my hair, and it was clear it's something he's passionate about. After a blow out, he even curled and styled it for me! The haircut was amazing, but chatting with Gaetano was the cherry on top. He's originally from Rome, and moved here for a better life for his children and family. We discussed our love for Italy and the best Italian restaurants in Chicago. Throughout the haircut, he gave me tips and tricks that I can do to improve the quality of my hair. I highly recommend finding a salon with better owner customer service, with all of the options out there, don't be swindled by Tracey and her long texts to your phone demanding she knows what she's talking about for a salon you're a regular at while trying to double your service needs. Horrible communication and customer service from the top down which is sad to see given the stylists there don't have anything to do with the way they are conducting their client communication and scheduling.

I thought she was just putting there as a courtesy and did not bother to ask thinking she would still honor it if just a few months late. Oh boy No. She declined the gift card when I went in Mar, only two months after the expiration date. My friend just basically gave her $30 and she took it without blinking. According to Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009, Gift cards cannot expire for at least 5 years from purchase or last reload. Illinois even has stricter rule about it stating that retail gift cards generally cannot have an expiration date. If a card says it expires, that term is typically unenforceable in Illinois. I don't care how often you need to go threading your eyebrows, but 3-month expiration period for gift cards is illegal. I will be filing a complaint with Illinois Attorney General's Office Update: your terms and conditions on the gift card are ILLEGAL. I was not rude to your staff. You did not want to provide me the service so you asked your assistant to do my eyebrows to get me out of the door. I did not want to waste my friend's money so I accepted and tipped her well. The gift card is good for two services and you took it and said that's it. If I'd known this is illegal, I would have kept the gift card as evidence and refused your service.
