My nails look amazing! My friend is a regular here, I've been a few times. I just came here to get my nails done before my wedding and they are great. They are funny, kind and do a great job. One of my nails was broken, but to fix it would have required cutting my nail super super short...before my wedding. It wasn't an issue to them. They put some tape on it, glued it, and painted over it...and you can't even tell. My nail is perfect. Thank you for such a great job! $40 for regular mani + pedi. $55 for gel. read more

Hi-Way Nails is a hole in the wall nail salon tucked away in Lakeview. I've always had really wonderful experiences with my dip manis and gel pedis and can say with confidence that this is a very reliable local nail salon. Wayne is hilarious and simply the best! Prices are very reasonable and decently less expensive than downtown Chicago. It's a bit of a hike north from where I live but always worth the trip! 5 stars for Hi-Way Nails and 10/10 recommend! read more

The owners John and his wife are the sweetest. Their hard work is evident, and the results speak for itself. John is my main guy, and he always perfectly shapes my nails. I've always appreciated that he is meticulous, but efficient. I never was previously loyal for my nails, but this place changed my mind. John has done my engagement nails, bachelorette nails, and soon to be wedding nails. Thank you for your consistency and great nails- every time. read more

I've been here twice now for no chip manicure and regular pedicure. They've done a wonderful job with both! My manis have lasted 2-3 weeks and pedis for 3+ weeks! The space is lowkey and relaxing. I like that it's not crazy busy because those kinds of places give me headaches. I like to come during the day when they have more availability. Service is great, too. The young guy who has done my nails both times is friendly and gentle my nails. I like how he looked at my bright orange nail color and immediately asked where I'm going haha. He knew. I also like how they automatically turn on the massage chair when you sit down. Saves me the time of figuring out how to work it. Make sure to ask for the punch card! :) read more

Like a lot of Chicago "hole in the wall" places, Hi-Way Nails is a hidden gem. It's not a spa, but they get the job done. They work so hard and the prices cannot be beat. Service is friendly and depending on the clients on any given day, there's a lot of laughter. I always leave smiling. Love them! read more

This place is my absolute favorite. A good friend of mine showed me this gem over four years ago and I have been going consistently ever since. Not only is it affordable but my no chip consistently lasts 3 weeks. All of my close friends have also made Hi-way their go to spot and it is a designated girls night destination-- they often stay open later to accommodate regulars! I adore the staff and I feel like I am visiting with friends every time I have an appointment. I love them all so much that I still drive into the city from the burbs to get my nails done. This place isn't the most tranquil space but I can assure you will have so many laughs, (maybe a few drinks) and walk out with the best manicure of your life! Don't sleep on this place! read more

This has become my go-to spot. I have been coming to Hi-Way Nails for years! I moved a few years ago and still make the trek over here to get my nails done. The place might seem like a hole in the wall, but those are always the best places! The staff is very attentive and will make sure they take their time to do a great job with your nails. They also have a punch card so you can get discounts, which I love. They even have complimentary water bottles if you ask! I always love the way my nails look after getting them done here. This is the best place in Chicago for manicures and pedicures. Excellent service and the attention to detail given to your nails is beyond anything I have experienced at any other salons. Hi-way nails is my go to spot. It's a hole in the wall that you would pass if you didn't find it on Yelp first - but the manicures and pedicures are amazing. I get a shellac manicure and it lasts me three weeks! I've stopped biting my nails and my nails have never grown longer. The owner is also really funny and gets to know his customers. He'll even give you a beer if you ask nicely! My tip is to call before and tell them you're coming in. It's a small nail salon so if you just walk in there is usually a wait. If you call before and let him know what you are coming in for he'll fit you in. read more

Called last second this morning to make an appointment and at first they were full, but then called back immediately and had a spot available for me! Love that they called back! I've been loyal to another salon for almost a year now but about a week ago I desperately needed nails redone and had no time to walk extra mile to get there and googled nails salon on that corner. I've been to 2 others and hated them hence the reason of a mile walk. But then I found hi-way nails and decided to give it a try! They won my loyalty - I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!simply amazing!!!!!! Manicure lasts, looks amazing and I just became the happiest girl when I walked out of that salon. I've been going to Hi-Way for 8+ years and they never disappoint. Julie is my go to girl for all my nail needs. Before coming to Hi-Way, my nails were brittle and would never grow. Since coming to them constantly, every 2-3 weeks, my nails have never been stronger or longer. Their prices are super reasonable, have literally every color you can imagine and you won't have a better time when you get to know all the workers. With so many nail salons in such a small radius, I had to rely on Yelp to deliver--and it did not disappoint! Called to make an appointment on a Saturday morning. Phone lines were busy for the first thirty minutes! Finally got an appointment made, but still had to wait about 15 minutes once it started. I didn't mind, though. The reviews mentioned it can be a bit chaotic and I thought it was worth the wait to see if this could be my new no-chip mani spot. Folks, for $30, this was by far the BEST no-chip manicure I've had in the city. John(?) :) was super thorough and clean! He cleaned up every bit of extra polish so it didn't look like a four year old had painted my nails, lol. I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!! Thanks for the cleanest manicure!!! read more

My friend and I decided to try a new nail salon after the other place we were going was over charging us for not-so high quality work. We were recommended Hi-way nails and i couldn't be any happier with that decision! I had an acrylic removal and then gel polish with CHROME. Holy cow was this crime beautiful!!! The staff was all very friendly and accommodating. They didn't just sit there, do our nails, and then tell us they are done. I HAVE to give Hi-Way Nails a quick shoutout because they have stepped up my nail game. I used to go to another salon that costs far more and whenever I left the old place, I felt like my nails looked "just ok". Then I would go to Hi-Way and they fixed the botched shape and left me with a better paint job. ALSO, I am an acrylic girl (I know, dip and gel are in right now but I like to have claws and my natural nails just can't do it.) But Hi-Way is one of the few salons in my area that does acrylics still. The guy that does all the acrylics is amazing. He's attentive and will spend as much time as he needs to make sure the shape is exactly how you like, and that the acrylics are filed down to look like really nails (not fake looking at all!) He also does a great job at painting and guaranteeing they don't chip and aren't all over your skin. I'm so happy. They have officially become my go to places. Also, they're nice and like to build relationships with you. Super important and makes me feel comfortable when I'm in. Finally, they are able to do designs and generally any paint job you'd like. I've seen variations of tips and designs. Fun to know I can go in and try something new! Very happy and will definitely recommend this to anyone that asks. read more

They are still a little disorganized but I don't care-- they do simply the best no chip manicures ever, no matter which technician you get, and so reasonably priced. I came in with three busted nails and they took the time to meticulously repair them with silk wraps. You can't even tell they were broken. I like to go on weekday afternoons and usually will call the day before so I don't get stuck waiting. This systems works for me. If you go at a busier time (weekends, evenings) without an appointment, you will either wait or get flat out refused. I don't hold this against them because they're the best. read more

After being referred to this place, I made an appointment. Walked in 15 min early. Everyone stared at me without greeting me. I smiled, nothing. So... I said "Hi". They asked "what do you want?" "I have an appointment for a repair and fill, but I may get a new set depending what you think. You are the professionals, I trust you." Laughed. They put their heads down and kept working. No response. ... I start to walk to pick out my nail color and ask "So, should I pick a color...?" Without even looking at me "We don't have time for you. No." A little dumbfounded that he didn't look at me when he spoke to me or didn't apologize. Didn't ask to reschedule me... nothing. So I continued to look at him and said "... I had an appointment..." "We are too busy and don't have time for you." Nothing else said or done. No cares given. No apology or reschedule. No real explanation. No good bye. Nothing. Ignored. Straight up RUDE. Can't even call me? Just waste my time then treat me like that? I'm not asking to be sucked up to or need the most attention. I'm very easy going, I am understanding to an extent, but I did not deserve to be treated with such disrespect for whatever reason. I won't be back and I've told my 2 girls who referred me as well. We are switching salons. read more

So kind, gentle, and professional. Nails always look great when they finish! Love this place and will never go anywhere else.

First time getting my nails done since the virus hit and man was I impressed! Their door is locked as only appointments can come in, they take your temperature, have you wash your hands, and of course you have to wear a mask. They also have you sign a waiver saying you are healthy to the best of your knowledge etc. Despite all of these precautions, I had a relaxing time and enjoyed my no chip very much. Reasonably priced and the owner, I believe his name is Wayne, was amazingly thorough. read more

My friend (and fellow Yelper -- hi, Kelsey S!) recommended this nail salon, and their meticulous manicures did not disappointment! After trying many (and I mean many) nail salons in the area, I was SO happy to find one that truly does a good quality job. Whenever a nail salon pulls out the paint brush for touch up, I know they understand me. And here, they really took their touch-ups seriously -- yay! But the best part? The price. My mani/pedi was only $30 -- a Monday-Thursday special. I've never even heard of prices that low, even in the suburbs. The only thing I didn't totally love was the vibe. This place was a little hole-in-wall -- no literally, there was a hole in the wall. And while other nail salons play HGTV and offer you wine, Hi-Way Nails has hockey on the TVs and offered me a beer. Like I said, different vibe. And I'm just not sure if it's my vibe? Two other girls were also reeeeally annoying while I was there, but I know that's out of the business' control. But honestly, what matters when you get your nails done is quality. And this place's got it. So this girl on a budget will definitely be back. read more

I just had my first no-chip mani and regular pedi from Hi-Way and I'm never going anywhere else! They were so gentle, meticulous and really took their time. Every time he painted a layer, he went back and checked every finger for mistakes. $50 + a punch card and my manicure looks flawless! My only warning: Definitely schedule some time to pamper yourself. I was there from 3-4:30...but I'd rather have someone take the time to make everything look nice than do a rush job. Last thing: they play Ellen when she's on. So, they obviously have their priorities in check ;) read more

Awful. Went in for a pedicure and came out with one of the worst I've ever had. The manicurist was a young, attractive looking Asian man. Pleasant but distant. I wanted white toenails. I've seen them done on other darker skinned women and was really excited to try it. They told me to pick out my color and I picked an iridescent looking white OPI paint. The man scrunched up his face and asked me why I picked this color. I told him I wanted white, then he changed the color and said this one is better. HUGE MISTAKE! He ended up picking a paint that looks like he painted my nails with whiteout. It looks terrible. Absolutely no sheen or shine. Looks exactly like a 5th grader painted my nails with their left over whiteout. He did not scrape the heels of my feet. He did not buff the ridges out of my toenails. He did not shape my toenails at all. He did not apply a topcoat. He did not cut my toenails. He over extended the paint on some nails past my cuticle. He seemed to be preoccupied with whoever was coming in next through the door. I sat there and didn't complain, I am not a confrontational person. Once he "finished" my toes, he promptly went to do the nails of another client and told me to let them dry for a few minutes. Those few minutes lasted over 30 minutes, before another manicurist came to spray my feet with something or other, then place an oil on the toes along with a plastic bag. She also took the money for the procedure. He barely looked up from his client as I tipped him and walked out. I tipped him $6 but regret giving them any money at all. I was in a rush to pick up my daughter from school and did not have time to complain. Once I came home and my husband saw my feet, he said wow, they look um...different. I told him it was a horrible job and he thoroughly agreed. He begged me to go back the next day so he could complain and make them fix it, but I honestly didn't want to be bothered. They seem incompetent period. I'd rather wait the 2 weeks and spend my money on people that know how to do nails. This place sucks a huge bag of dicks!!! read more

Stopped in after reading some great yelp reviews, and I was not disappointed! I walked in at 10am on a Friday when the salon opened, and waited for about 20 minutes while the other two clients that arrived before me were taken care of. I asked for a no chip mani and pedi. Nina did a fabulous job, and was meticulous. She was delicate with my nails and cuticles, and painted three coats of polish on my fingernails, not including the top coat! All for $50.00, not including tip. Definitely worth it to go here, and I'll definitely be back! I did not bring drinks, but it's BYOB, they accept cards, and best of all, there's no strong nail polish/acetone odor! What a great find! read more

This is the best value in Lakeview (Maybe even the north side) for a pedicure! I don't have a favorite here, everyone who has touched my feet have done a great job! I am someone who likes to come in for a pedicure and sit in silence for 40 minutes (or however long it takes - Sorry, I'm antisocial) and everyone here respects that and allows me to enjoy my massage chair in peace! They have a great selection of colors and I am usually able to just walk in for a pedicure (There have been a few times they are completely booked - Especially over the summer). And the best part is that it's BYOB. A friend and I came with wine and not only did they allow us to drink, but once we were done, they let us sit their and finish our wine. They definitely didn't have to do that - But it made me a returning customer! It is kind of a hole-in-the-wall - Which sets it apart from your typical Lakeview/Lincoln Park salon. I totally don't mean that in a bad way - But just don't expect quite, calming music and dimmed lights. I have, and will continue to return here. read more

Yelp didn't fail me with Hi-Way Nails. I needed a last minute no chip mani, so I walked into Hi-Way as soon as they opened at 10 am. A tech called me over after about 10 min and got to work. I've never had a more detail oriented or careful technician! He constantly pulled fuzzies off, corrected polish, reshaped nails and put at least three coats of polish on, if not more. We'll see how the polish holds up over the next few weeks, but I'm definitely inclined to head back for my next manicure. I'm so happy I've found a great nail salon in my neighborhood! read more

The wonderful thing about this place is that they're perfectionists. I'm not a regular to nail salons, so when I was looking to do a no chip manicure in the Lakeview East area I was unsure which salon would give the best service for the dollar. I was expecting around $35-$45 dollars but Hi-Way was only charging $30, bingo! Not to mention, the RAVE Yelp reviews. So I decided to give it a shot. I was able to make an appointment same-day and confirmed the unbelievable price over the phone. It is definitely a 'hole in the wall' as described by others. I'd call it 'no frills' - it isn't overly fancy nor ornate. BUT when you get the incredible service, kindness / friendliness from technicians, and extremely high quality services, what does that matter? My nails have never looked this good and I am so pleased. The young man took plenty of time on my nails to make them perfect and was offering his opinions on color and nail length when I asked. It's not crowded in there, it's not bustling with people in and out - it's pretty calm unlike many other salons. The punch card also offers great promos at your 5th and 10th visits. Highly highly highly recommend this place. Do NOT pass this up for the best manicure! read more
