Smudged no chip nail polish, cut toe, unclean cuticles

Worst pedicure experience ever. From now reading the reviews I guess it depends who you get at this place. My nail tech rushed the whole time, she cut me multiple times and just brushed off the fact that I was bleeding and asked me to put my foot back in the water. The tools were not opened in front of me and were just sitting in a cup on the caddy, I'm sure not sterilized from the person before. The whole time I was telling this girl how to do her job. I'm pregnant and really am trying to care for my feet doing pedis for overall circulation health, and I had to tell this girl to scrub my feet for callus removal. I also asked she glue down the broken corner instead of leaving it hanging. I got no chip and she globbed on so much that the light did not cure it, so it is literally smudged, like what was the purpose of the extra 10$ if it's not dry?! She literally applied the lotion and rubbed it in with no massage, while my husband was having the time of his life getting a good scrub and massage. Such a waste of an hour and 50$ for something I will now spend more money to go fix. I sat in chair 6, this young girl was obnoxious and rough and highly recommend everyone to STEER CLEAR.

I got a gel mani with nail art and regular pedi before my birthday. Even though I was going on a Thursday morning, I made an appointment to be safe. I'm glad I did because it got really busy, even at 10:30am on a Thursday. Pedi was good and then I moved to get my mani. They were really busy at this point and I had to wait a bit. It was a bit frustrating that they weren't managing traffic very well and telling all the walk-ins they could help them right away, and people who had made appointments (myself and a few others who came in) were waiting. The first girl who started my nails was talking on her phone and not paying much attention to what she was doing and I eventually flagged another employee down about it (who seemed like a manager of sorts). She moved her and then I waited a bit more. And then finally was put with someone else. The lady who did my nails was great and I loved the finished product. Prices are very reasonable and they did a great job. I'll definitely be back but maybe come earlier in the week.

Great dip manicure! One of the best I've gotten in Chicago

Great dip manicure! The service was quick and the great quality. Would definitely come back!

I'm a nail tech's most annoying client. I'm pretty particular about my nail shape, quality and clean lines. Mia took her time and was very patient with me. She was very sweet to me and other customers. I will certainly return :)

I don't like getting my nails done because of bad experiences with either quality or cleanliness. I wish I had a before picture of how bad my natural nails were. They were cracked and split from working and I was hesitant going to a nail salon. Son took his time and was very gentle knowing how sensitive my nails were. I'm beyond impressed with the shape considering I didn't have one to begin with. Will now be my go to

Great salon! Everyone is very nice, and they always squeeze you in even when they're busy. The salon is clean, and they are always willing to charge my phone, which was almost dead each time I went. The first time I went in I did dip nail extensions, and they looked beautiful and natural. Dip can be really thick, which I don't particularly like, so I'd never done it before. I said I was willing to try it but wanted to make sure it looked as natural as possible. They seemed a little reluctant to make them as thin as I wanted, warning me they could break, but they still did it. They didn't break at all, and I had them on for 4 weeks! Normally my nails stop growing when I have fake nails on top, like acrylics, but that didn't happen here. The second time I went I removed the dip and got regular no chip, as my nails had grown out. Unfortunately here's where I have to take a star off. They tech was great; she did a good job and was great to talk to, but they've already chipped quite a bit and it has only been a week. I get there had to be 3 layers with the blue I chose, but I've had 3 layers before and it was fine. I did a chrome accent nail but that chipped in a day; not sure why. However, I enjoyed my experience each time and would go back, though I'd likely only ask for 2 layers max with no chip.

I know they say dip or gel is better for your nails, but I am an acrylic girl through and through. These days it's really hard to find a place that not only does Acrylic fills but does them exceptionally well. Lumera, however is one of those rare places. When you come to lumera not only can you expect a high quality manicure, but you'll find some incredible customer service and highly knowledgeable staff to match. Not to mention the incredible selection of colors they have. Any crazy design or whacky color you'll be able to find it here. Seriously I cannot recommend this place enough!

I always have the best experience at Lumera. Sometimes they can be quite busy so I've found it you go during "off" hours, you'll be in and out in a timely fashion! Today I went right when they opened and I got the trendy "chrome" nails. I loved them. The service was also impeccable. I had a cut in my hand that the acetone was hurting, so they replaced my bandaid for me and made sure it didn't touch the acetone. Just above and beyond. They take care to make sure that you're happy with your nails, and if you're not happy they will fix anything!! Overall I love it here and recommend it to everyone I know!

one of the worst manicures of my life. uneven application, not to mention the quality of the polish available was so tacky no wonder, even though i used one of the less sticky ones i could find. also did not seem sanitary at all and that was a bit alarming.

Loved that I was able to walk in today and get a great manicure and pedicure service. Prices are reasonable and they do a lovely job. I'll definitely go back.

This was my first time at Lumera and I have to say I was so impressed! They were able to take me right away as a walk in on a Friday afternoon. The service was incredibly friendly as soon as I walked in the door and throughout the my entire experience. I decided to treat myself to a pedicure and my first ever dip manicure. Luckily I went in with an exact color in mind, otherwise I could have spent an hour looking through all the color options they carry! I usually dread trips to the nail salon because I've always felt super rushed, which in turn results in sloppy nails, but my experience at Lumera could not have been more different! I think I just found my new go-to salon in the neighborhood

I made an appointment that same day and got in. I got seated fast and old powder was soaked off. There is as a lot of color selection and the service was great. I will coming back once this set is grown out.

Nails are beyond bulky and uneven. Wanted a French tip but they came out to be the worst French tips I've ever had. $70 for it too which is insane. Never coming here ever again.

How much is dip manicure and do they dip your fingers in the jar or pour it onto your nail (sanitary purposes)?

Dip Manicure starts at 40$ and no they don't dip your finger in it. This is the best dip I've ever gotten; literally lasts a whole month and the price isn't bad. If you get tips then it's an extra charge of like 10$

I've been coming to Sapphire Halsted for many years and when I say I love everything about this place, I mean it. I love the bright space filled with art, fun music videos and chill vibes. The talent is unmatched. The techs keep the convo flowing when I'm feeling chatty, and don't press me when I just want to zone out. That's big for me. I've never had a bad mani, but IMO, Gala is the best. She meticulously removes every last shred of cuticle (and not in a way that hurts or makes my nail beds angry and red) and applies polish with such care. You can tell the owner takes great pride in his business because of the effort that he puts in to hiring great people and keeping the place looking nice. I always leave feeling relaxed and my nails looking amazing. I've never had a bad experience here and I look forward to visiting Black Onyx for years to come!

I've found my new nail place. And actually, I didn't even realize I needed a new nail place…read more I'm in the process of trying to beautify and pamper myself in the days before I give birth, and getting a manicure and pedicure was on my list of desired treatments. I haven't had a mani pedi since at least October 2019, if not further back than that. They haven't been my #1 priority for pampering (that's a facial), but it do enjoy it. I learned about Dazzle Dry polish in the last year or so and have been curious to try it ever since, but it appears that there's only a few salons in the city that use it and so that's what led me to Spa Avenue. When I got there the woman who worked on me was ready to start immediately; it just took me a few minutes to choose my color. I suppose it was a fairly standard manicure/pedicure, but still I appreciated her attention to detail and she had a great touch--not too rough or anything. My hands and feet feel so nice and soft now. My hands had been really dry lately but they feel soft and supple a day later. Dazzle Dry is fantastic, so between that and the good service I experienced here that will keep me coming back. I usually don't get color on my fingernails when I get a pedicure, I just get them buffed because if they aren't chipped by the time I leave the salon, they are by the end of that same evening. Over 24 hours later, there's not a chip to be seen on my nails currently. It's supposed to last something like 7-10 days and I believe it. It's also great because unlike no-chip, it doesn't have to cure or anything and you can remove it with regular acetone nail polish remover I think. I didn't realize how excited I would be to be able to wear nail color on my fingernails again, or how much I love the look of it! I'm not kidding when I say I gave up on nail polish well over a decade ago and haven't worn it since, and now I can't wait to return and try other colors. I wish I had gotten the name of the nail tech who worked on me today because she was excellent and I'd love to request her specifically next time. But all the folks here seem to know what they're doing so I would expect to have a good experience with anyone.
