I called this afternoon to see if they had any openings and they said to come right in! I was seated immediately and Mandy went right to work. She gave me a little stand for my phone and a stylus so I could use it while my nails were wrapped in foil!!! I thought that was so clever and so considerate!! If I could give negative stars I would lol I went here about 2 weeks ago. Got my nails done by Angie on a Monday. I went here cause I just couldn't get out to my lady in the burbs with the construction. So I figured I would give it a try. So many reviews looked like the nails were quality. My nails were in rough shape I figured they may potentially not fully hold but needed product on my hands cause I use my hands all day everyday and also bartend.. I had made an appointment a handful of days in advance and clearly said I wanted hard gel overlay. When I showed up, she immediately said gel x. When I told her no she kept insisting. I just said I only want hard gel. Gel x is too thin and doesn't hold for me. So I sat down and she got to work. For the first time I was pretty vocal on shape and length cause I refuse to pay $100-130 a visit and leave unhappy. I hate thick product on my fingers. So I made sure I was clear I liked them thin and dainty but still strong and done well. Showed her a picture of my hands with the same exact color and shape so she knew what I have gotten and how I do them. Angie was really nice and fixed the ones I didn't like as we went through and I went home. All in all I would say I was in and out in 45 minutes. Which to me seemed impossible especially with hard gel so I was concerned they were going to lift since they never really felt cured to the nail. 3 days later they all started lifting and cracking. I called Thursday night about a half hour before close to try and set up a fix and no one answered. So I called Friday morning and asked if I could have them redone because they were all lifting. I tried to set an appointment but earliest was Tuesday I could get there. When I called Monday to reset up the appointment she kept demanding 9 am. I kept explaining I work a day job and said it would have to be after 3. She kept demanding her availability at 9-10 am and I just said this is what I can do after 3 pm. When I walked in Tuesday, it was an immediate dumpster fire. I said I had an appointment as I called cause they were all lifting. The girl jade sad okay go ahead and sit. But I was concerned so I tried to clarify and make sure I wasn't paying another $80 for a new set since this just clearly wasn't cured correctly. She kept telling me I needed gel x. I told her no probably 10 times and made it clear I only wanted hard gel overlay. They probably fought me for 10 minutes on the gel x. Finally once we agreed she started to file down the product. She left the product on half of my nails and then when to go put tips on my nails while it still had chunks of nails of the back of my nail bed. I was sincerely livid. I stopped her and was like no. You are not doing that. The product clearly wasn't cured correctly. It needs to be redone completely. And here was where she now refused to speak English and was talking shit about me in her language lol. I had my translator on the whole time figuring out what she was saying to her friend and person on the phone. I was truly mind blown. She then started demanding gel x again and I finally just got annoyed and told her to stop and take them all off and I would go somewhere else. She was so confused staring at me. I told her I have said no 25 times and the fact you're demanding it given I paid 100 for a set last time and it's not what I want is insane. They probably thought I was psycho but in full honesty I can't believe they kept demanding it. I told them I didn't like it, I hate how they look and how the glue runs over under the nail. They then said well that's not how we do it so you should try it and I just laughed and said no. Take it all off I'm going to go somewhere else. She then takes the clippers out and chopped off all my growth on my right hand and then called her boss and expected me to leave that way. I asked them for a refund for my service from last week as I paid cash and told them this was the most disrespectful and disappointing salon I've ever been to. She then decided to change her mind and say she would do them and given the botched job she did to my hands I was going to get my moneys worth cause I couldn't leave now like that. I was so frustrated the whole time, because I kept explaining to her my middle and pointer fingers were crooked and she just kept saying that was the direction of my finger and not her fault. She was so disrespectful the entire time I was getting my nails done. I wouldn't let a dead relative get a manicure here. Disrespectful, disappointing and to be honest, had I not paid cash. I would've done a chargeback. Don't go here. read more

i LOVE the color selection. and the swatches look exactly the same on my nails. i always leave happy with my color choice, which is a challenge for me with gel polish. However! the 3x i have been, my nails chip at the top after 5 days. i have noticed their polish brands are different, not typical OPI or DND gel... i have never had an issue with gel polish chipping EVER. like, my polish will grow out for 3 months from the bottom before it chips from the top. it's disappointing because otherwise, i'm satisfied, but i don't want to go back in all the time to get one nail fixed. read more

Super cute salon in old town! I called earlier in the day for pricing and made sure I could do walk in. You can schedule too but I walked in the afternoon for a gel manicure. After picking my color (which there were lots to choose from - and they have dip too) I was seated right away and offered a little water bottle. My manicure was quick and efficient. I have had issues with the quality of my mani/pedis here a few times. Today I left because the manicurist was going to put nail polish over my nails that had dirt under them. She didn't clean under my nails at all and when I said something she said I was going to clean under my nails after the nail polish. I had a regular mani so that was not possible because it would ruin my manicure. This was the second time this happened so I question the cleanliness of the salon and won't be back. Salons should not take appointments if they can't accommodate them. Spa Dabin has no problem taking your appointment, and then making you wait for 30-40 minutes past your scheduled time. I've been going to Spa Dabin for almost a year now and this has happened to me multiple times at this location. Apparently being a repeat customer that shows up on-time to appointments, and tips their nail technicians very well isn't enough. It's safe to say I will not be back. read more

I impulsively decided I wanted to get my nails done and called to see if this place had any openings after their reviews. They fit me in in the next 30 minutes and I was put with Ava. She was really nice and checked in through out to make sure I was liking the shape/color etc. It was a total of $75 for a full Gel X set. I'm super happy with them and will be going back! read more

The girls are very nice, and they take excellent care of my old gargoyle feet. The place is spotless and bright -- like an operating room, but cheerful. I didn't feel weird being the only guy there. Who would have thought that someday I'd have to outsource foot care? I have no regrets. I understand why women get addicted to these places. Only deduct 1 star because it's a bit pricey and they do not have massage chairs for pedicures (but they certainly make up for it by providing a nice brief massage at the end of your manicure!). read more

I am actually kind of bummed to be leaving this review...because I relocated three weeks ago, and no longer will be visiting this salon. I realized this morning that my manicure and pedicure have made it through a move and all the lame aspects (packing, unpacking, hauling, a new environment), so it is beyond time to leave a proper review. The photo attached is from moments ago. This is what their gel/shellac looks like at week three. They don't use a mechanical file to buff down your nails, and they take their time in ensuring the pain doesn't hit your cuticles (which grow out then contributes to the lift and peeling from most other salons). My pedicure looks just as good--still clean with grow out--and it isn't gel. The salon is comfortable, the staff is nice, and they are relatively quick. Enjoy your visit, and tell them "Kayla says 'hi,'" for me please. Finding a good salon is hard, and these ladies were great. read more

This place is great! I recently moved to Old Town and was looking for a salon I could go to regularly and within walking distance of me. I tried several salons on Wells St and this one is my favorite. They took the time to get the shape of my nail right and the dip powder lasted 3 weeks. There was no lift by the cuticle so even though I let them grow out a bit my hair wasn't getting caught in my nail like they have in the past. Excited to have a regular spot to go to! read more

I've been to over a dozen nail salons in Chicago and I have to say, this is one of the best for no-chip manicures. The nail techs take their time filing your nails evenly as well as trimming cuticles. The nail techs are also gentle and don't scrape your nail beds harder than necessary when removing no-chip polish. They guarantee no chips for two weeks and will fix your polish if you have chips for free. A no-chip manicure is $40, which is competitive with the rest of salons in the area (though incredibly over-priced by LA or NYC standards. Get it together, Chicago!). Color selection for no-chip is small, so that is why I am only giving 4 stars. Please get some more colors! :-) read more

The woman ended up using old nail polish that never dryer properly and started chipping off right away. I am on my second day and my nails look horrible. You're better off going to one of the other salons on Milwaukee. They are cheaper and higher quality. I was a regular customer here getting sub par pedicures for a few months. I got a really horrible mani pedi that required a complete polish change the next day and they were really rude about fixing it. No kidding, the manager called me the same afternoon that I had a confusing phone experience with the receptionist and asked me to come in so they could re-do the manicure for free. They treated me like their most valuable VIP that afternoon! I'm incredibly impressed with their customer service and loved the product already. Tip for folks trying Vinylux for the first time: don't do spa manicure; I think that's what had it chipping so much the first time. too many oils for the Vinylux to adhere. This was literally the worst manicure I have ever gotten. They don't use enough polish so it looks splotchy and horrible. I got a no chip manicure that started chipping the next day. There are pieces of the brushes they use in my polish, but they didn't bother to fix the damage. To top it all off, it was $60 for a no chip manicure. That is just outrageous, ESPECIALLY considering the quality of the service. There are several other nail salons on this street, and I strongly suggest you keep on walking to those. read more
