Celina's Nail Spa is the only nail salon in Chicago that I have found that offers BS Band treatment for ingrown toenails (or curved nails that want to become ingrown.) I also only found 3-4 podiatrist offices that offer this type of treatment. I bought some BS bands online and tried to DIY. Major failure! Thus, my search for a professional! I have 4 affected toenails. Celina actually used a method called ONYFIX which uses a clay-like band that is affixed with UV light. The band is attached to the base of the toenail and grows out with the toenail keeping the nail bed flat and straight as it grows out. I have been coming for almost 9 months and had a few more procedures as the nail bed grows out and a new band is put on at the "new" base. On top of the bands, Celina has done a beautiful pedicure with no chip gel. I am so grateful for this procedure and also to have my feet look so beautiful while "in treatment." Celina has also educated me on the importance of room in the toe area of all my shoes to make sure that there is no pressure on my nails to prevent curvature. I never paid attention to that part of my shoe fit. Celina's Nail Salon is an excellent and relaxing atmosphere for an excellent pedicure and manicure, but my experience is much more because of this nail treatment! The best pedicure I've ever had. Celina was so kind and accommodating, I called very last minute and told them I was flying into Chicago for an event and was hoping to get some help with ingrown nails. Celina squeezed me in to help and was so gentle and assessed my nails, giving me her professional recommendations. After she explained the process of adding the plastic she proceeded to meticulously tend to my cuticles and prep my toes for a wonderful pedicure. The process of adding the plastic piece to my nail was mildly uncomfortable, but very tolerable compared to the pain in my nail before seeing her from the ingrown. My first experience DEFINITELY won't be the last!! This is a very late post as my service was the last week in June. However, is was extremely memorable! The atmosphere was clean, not crowded, welcoming and relaxing. They offer an atmosphere and professionalism you would expect from a business. The owner and my technician were very pleasant and my services ( manicure) were performed with EXPERTISE and Meticulously. I would say - close to perfection! In full transparency, I regret not leaving a more accurate tip. This mistake wasn't out of frugality, but lack of knowledge and awareness. I was lead to do my research on tipping practices in this industry using reliable sources and found it similar to most other industries eg.- restaurants, etc. LESSON LEARNED. I have been going to Celina's Nail Salon for the last 3 years because this woman saved my toenails. I had pretty bad ingrown toenails and was skittish about having the podiatrist correct them. Using a brace system, versus surgery, Celina was able flatten out my toenails and eliminate all the pain they were giving me. Today, I have beautiful toes and finger nails due to her dedication, expertise and experience. Additionally, her spa is beautiful, relaxing, and super clean. I went in with my mom on Christmas Eve after a ton of shopping and asked if they were available for two manis and a pedi. They were so sweet and welcoming and made time for us- on Christmas Eve! My mom got a pedicure and said it was the most relaxing pedicure she's ever had. She usually tenses up and gets anxious when they cut cuticles, but Maggie was so gentle that my mom actually fell asleep in the chair! They do such a good job here, our nails look incredible. They're so attentive to detail and really take their time here. (Also, they are both Polish and helped me write a text in Polish to my boyfriend's father, which he loved. Celina is a true artist and very talented at what she does. I recently moved to Lincoln Park and was seeking out a place to try my first no chip manicure when my husband and I were house hunting. I was thrilled that we ended up with a home just across the street from her salon, so that I was able to return! Celina's work is flawless. She is meticulous about shaping the nail, cleaning the cuticle, and putting on thin layers of base coat, polish, and top coat. I've only ever had the CND shellac manicures and I believe that is her expertise! No chipping for over 2 weeks! I believe this is because she takes so much care in how she uses the CND system. She also spent over an hour with me and it was easy to make an appointment. I did not feel rushed at all, even when her next appointment had arrived, she still gave me a great mini hand massage. She does get booked quickly, as she is solo, so book in advance. Robert Jeffrey is also a great salon! The space is warm and welcoming, it's super clean, and the front receptionists are great about greeting you. I'm very happy with my manicure and even received compliments from my husband! It took me Two weeks to get an appointment at this spa/nail salon and I was very excited to have a relaxing pedicure. When I arrived Katarzyna had me sit down and removed the polish from my toes. She then called over Celina who told me loudly that I had toenail fungus and they could not treat me. I would have to see a podiatrist (she referred me to one) and be treated with lasers before they devices me. Embarrassed I left and promptly made an appointment with the podiatrist. After visiting him I was informed that I did not have toenail fungus, just discoloration caused by leaving polish on too long and layering polishes. I stumbled upon Celina, 2-1/2 years ago, by dumb luck ... taking advantage of a Groupon offer. I expected an acceptable manicure. I didn't expect that she would become my regular manicurist. But she has! Celina is wonderful! She does an outstanding job on both hands and feet. In fact, my feet have probably never looked better. So, I had a groupon for two no chip manicures. First impressesions walking in is that the place was nice. It was a hair salon with the little nail place in the corner. She is the only nail technician there per our conversation. The first time I got my nails done, she did a great job. It didn't chip until 11 days after or so. But the second time I got my nails done I was going to Florida for Xmas so I decided to go back for my second round. I chose a pretty maroon color. It seriously lasted about 19 days until the first chip!!! I was amazed! I don't know what she's using but it lasted me so long! I had went in a pool, gone kayaking, gone to the beach and spent several hours in the sun and not one chip. I was completely satisfied and it exceed my expectations. Now some might say she isn't very talkative but I noticed that if you talk to her she will talk back. She does seem like the kind of person that will get the job one done at a good pace though but she may not be all chatty, which I do enjoy because sometimes I don't feel like talking. But the conversing part, I can care less about as long as they are doing their job correctly, which she did. So I was very satisfied and would probably go back and pay full price to get my nails done with her again. read more

Best mani pedi I've ever had! I NEVER get manicures because 1. They usually file the nails a bad shape and 2. The max I can go without chipping is 8 hours. I bought a groupon to here months ago, have called 6 times to make an apt, have not been able to schedule one that works with my schedule. My groupon expires May 1st so I called the beginning of April just ready to get this done with. Didn't even care if it fit my schedule, just wanted to get it used, was planning on leaving work early if I had to, just to be told they are full for this month. It's the beginning of April....... I told them they need to have more than one nail tech or not post on groupon because they clearly can't handle the numbers. My entire experience has been one big haste. I have never experienced a proper pedicure until now! After years even the best nail salons I have found have never compared to this experience. This is beyond a pedicure. Celina is specialized in wellness pedicures and used tools I have never seen before to properly clean and treat my cuticles. For years I have been suffering with what I learned has been excess skin and an ingrown growing sideways. I have to tell most places to remove and focus on this area, but Celina new exactly how to treat. She explained what was happening and removed the skin which painfully I try to do it myself post every pedicure. This is not like any other pedicure so once you try it you'll question your favorite mani and pedi salon. Her location is super clean. She offers tea coffee and I am eyeing macaroons as I sit and write this review. I haven't gotten to the mani yet bc I had to share this right away as you can tell when you find a place like this in Chicago you want to tell all your friends. Now there's a silky mousse being applied to my feet with a massage so hold on I'm taking a break to enjoy this.....ok back omg so I came in and told her I had a sore throat and she focused on pressure points she said would assist in releasing toxins. I was truly in awe of the wonderful service that I received and continue to receive from Celina. Over the past 18 years, Celina has moved a few times, but stayed in the Lincoln Park/Lakeview area and I have followed her wherever she's gone. Every two weeks, for 18 years, I have gone for my manicures/pedicures. She's been a sounding board for me as my 3 sons have grown and married during this time. I've always had excellent service.
