Update, I mentioned in my original review that it was a good manicure but it's actually worse than my normal manicure which I explained the price of. I've gotten russians at many salons, and regular hard gel manicures, and I've never had one chip. But today this one chipped, on my left hand 2nd finger so like the least used finger too. Also the finish turned dull - almost as if part of the top coat was matte..never seen that and it's very weird. read more

I have only had great experiences at Legendary! The nail tech was amazing and helped me craft the perfect nails for the music festival that I was attending. She even hand-drew the logo of the fest for me! The salon is very clean and smells amazing. I had a 4:45 appointment for a regular manicure, and was not seen until 5:00. Which was fine, I was not in a time crunch. My nail tech did a wonderful job on my cuticles and started to paint the polish. Then another customer came in for a 6:00 pm appointment with my artist and demanded she was seen immediately since she had somewhere to be at 7:00 pm. My artist then rushed through my manicure, leaving paint on my fingers smeared and quickly brushed on a top coat and had me leave. There was no drying station. Unfortunately the edges of my nails were not sealed properly and look like they will begin to chip within a few days. When I do my nails myself I take more care with the polish and top coat, and make sure the whole nail is painted with polish and top coat. I'm upset mainly because this particular salon is significantly more expensive than others in the area, so I was expected a certain level of care. read more

I've been going to Legendary for gel overlays with Enya for the past few months. Although it feels pricey ($100-$110, depending on art), I'm really happy with the quality and service of Enya. I always book my next appointment when I'm there because the online booking system is so difficult to navigate and it seems like there's never any availability online, also they don't have a phone system to call and make appointments. I did recently have a bad pedicure experience with another nail tech who did a good job overall, but just abandoned me in the chair when she was finished and she never checked on me or told me when I was good to leave. I felt like I was there for quite a while, then spent the next few hours sitting at home because I had a fresh pedicure. I later put on socks and shoes to walk nearby and came home to the polish completely smooshed and ruined on my big toes. Legendary was still open so I went in to get it fixed, but was told they don't do that. read more

This is the absolute best nail salon in Chicago, hands down. Not only is the location super cute and different from any other cold feeling nail salon, but my manicure lasted 3+ weeks without any chips. They have lasted through travel and a week on the beach/ocean, and are still going strong after I got back. Even now with a small chip the integrity of the polish is great. With other no-chip/gel manicures, once I got a chip, the whole nail was ruined. Will be back soon for my summer nails! read more

Do not come here. I experienced the worst customer service at Legendary in Wicker Park. I traveled all the way from the south suburbs to be serviced here. I showed the nail tech the design I wanted. She said she could not do that design because apparently I didn't book the correct service and would need more time than was allotted. I agreed very politely and asked to reschedule for another day when she could do the design. Instead of accommodating me, the owner said she would be charging me for a no-show cancellation. I asked her why would I be charged for a no-show if I arrived to my appointment and you are denying me from having the service I would like. She said that it's their policy to charge the card for cancellations. So I left. I will be disputing the card with the bank. If that fails, I will be taking them to small claims court. I was never able to break my anxious habit of biting my nails until I started getting manicures at Legendary. When I got my first one done, my nails were bitten as short as they could be to a point where it was painful and I was embarrassed about it. The techs at Legendary didn't judge me for it but instead started me on a journey to having naturally long nails--something I never dreamed I could have. Every tech I've been to has been extremely professional and gentle and has done incredible work, from gel overlays to gel-x extensions to no-chips. It's been a rollercoaster ride trying to find a decent nail tech now a days. But legendary spa has me hooked ! First I visit their highland park location and they were fabulous. I found a location a little closer to me and I went in for my first visit yesterday and I can't help but feel the need to leave this review. My nails look fabulous and I owe it to Sara ! I had the worst manicure experience of my life at Legendary. The nail tech was very kind and was appeared to be following standard practice at this salon. However, standard practice left my nails very damaged. She started by electric filing my previous gel polish off, which thinned my nails out enough. Next she proceeded to ELECTRIC FILE MY CUTICLES and then CUT THEM WITH SCISSORS, since the efile alone didn't do enough damage. The actual paint job was carefully done and the polish looks nice, in stark contrast to my enflamed cuticles. If you only think of your nails as an indestructible canvas this may be the place for you, but I value you my nail health and will not be returning. Regardless, this damage is not fixable until my nails grow fully out so I will likely need to take a break from gel manis in general. I regret not being up front about my negative experience with the tech and the hostess or asking the tech to stop when she first broke out the efile, but I was panicking and didn't know what to do. read more

Literally the worst pedicure ive ever gotten (and i have been getting my nails done for 5 years straight). The polish was wonky, the tech Sara did not scrub my feet at all and massaged it for less than a few minutes. She was rushing and pulling and pushing. I seriously was miserable the whole time. She and other staff were rude. I booked an 1.5 hr pedicure and it was only an hour. The whole experience was terrible. I went back to have them fix the nail polish and they picked the wrong color. I am never going back despite living next door and will never recommend this place to anyone. read more

Worst mani of my life and horrible customer service! I decided to book for an overlay and nail art manicure. During the appointment, I requested pressed-on flowers and asked my nail tech to show me the options before choosing the nail color. However, she needed help understanding my request due to the language barrier. I then asked the receptionist to help convey my message. Unfortunately, the nail tech never showed me the flowers; the receptionist only mentioned that they varied in color. As a result, I decided to proceed with my nails without any nail art. During the application of the thick overlay, my fingers began to burn under the UV light. I told the nail tech it burned as I removed my fingers from the light. At the end of the appointment, I expressed my dissatisfaction with the thick overlay and nail polish, which made my nails look unnatural. I have had overlays at other salons; my nails never looked like this. I emailed the salon about my experience immediately. It's been a week of horrible communication, constantly following up with them to receive a refund or book a fix. The no-chip started chipping 2 days after. read more

My first visit with Kisha in Hinsdale was a manicure and I left with nips and blood soars on at least 4 fingers! I sucked it up and silly me went again, thinking it would be better the 2nd time around with a gel overlay. NOPE! I Also scheduled a pedicure that the receptionist failed to schedule and they simply said, 'sorry, there's someone else coming after my nail appointment. (Mind you, my flight to Mexico was that next morning). No apology or accountability from the receptionist, no trying to see if the next customer had any flexibility. After trying to get some understanding and management involved and having to convince there so call manager Kate to simply ask the next customer of there flexibility, she FINALLY gave in! Like wow! What kind of manager is she supposed to be?! At this point, I'm heated because of the lack of professionalism! (Luckily, the next customer was flexible. Had she not been flexible, they would've sent me home to leave to Mexico with my feet not done! Highly disgusted! (The pedicure was rushed and not comfortable) (No phone call was ever attempted by the owner in regards to the situation!) But instead, Here's the kicker!: They removed me from being able to schedule future appointments stating I was being a 'Bullie!' Is this what our society runs to! There feeling when they are in the wrong and the customer is upset with the treatment they receive!?! No apology. No accountability. No understanding. This salon, while it does have nice decor and ambiance, is overpriced for what you're getting and there isn't price transparency within the levels of services. I've gotten my nails done twice and I felt like it was night and day from the first to the second. Each time I paid the same amount for no chip + nail art (which is 25-50% more than you'd pay at another salon); the first time the pricing seemed fair as the design was rather intricate and the technician took her time massaging my hands/making the experience a luxury one. However this past time my design took maybe 1/3 of the amount of time (as it was on two fingers vs all 10), felt super rushed, and yet it was just as expensive. I used to bite and pick my nails but since getting gel overlay and going to Legendary my nails are much stronger and healthier. If you haven't tried it before, you must try it.
