Plates are very generous and delicious, server was attentive and friendly. Short rib full plate is huge. Half plate shrimp in garlic sauce with rice and beans was very fulfilling. They carry Portuguese sodas like Sumol Ananas (pineapple) and mineral water. Espressos were perfect afterward - Portuguese espresso is better than Starbucks, trust. Very affordable. Limited seating, cash only, on an industrial street- but don't be fooled, the food is fantastic and authentic. Hidden gem for those that love Portuguese food. Oh yes. After working in Hillside for 5 years I just found this place on Yelp. I never thought of hanging a left on Long ave. I went here and got a steak sandwich that was $5. The meat was tender and I saw the guy cut it fresh off a much larger piece. When you can bite right through some steak in a sub without pulling all the rest out you know it's tender. Meat Cheese Onions and some sauce that I did not even try before I soaked my sub in it.....did not regret that move one bit. It was a spicy garlic sauce that I would probably eat on anything. The guy next to me got a whole chicken meal....I do no think meal is the right word...Feast?! It was half a catering trey portioned off into 1/3 rice 1/3 and entire chicken and 1/3 was a ton of fries (or beans)......$12!!!! I will update after I try more items. read more

(Give me a second to look it up) Okay, it's Long Ave 'Churrasqueira'. Anyway, Long Ave is a family-owned business that's been around since '96. They serve quality Portuguese BBQ-styled food on a grill that takes up about a quarter of the restaurant. There's limited fish here - just meats and poultry. Don't be a fool and ask for Codfish. Inside, there are very few tables, so if it doesn't bother you, sit at any of the bar stools and how watch how your griller hooks you up with sizzling, hot meat. I like ordering the half chicken and half ribs ($8.50). The meat isn't dry and has a lot of flavor. All of their combos come with fries and rice. Nice little spot in hillside, good prices and gives you a lot of food. The best dish is pichadino (pork cubes) maybe with shrimp but always ask for it with fries on the bottem because they soak up the sauce which has a nice flavor. Went here with my husband tonight just for a quick dinner. Found it using yelp. This is literally a hole in a wall kind of restaurant. The food tasted fresh and succulent. We had the ribs/chicken combo which came with rice and beans- we added the fries for just $1. And can I say, the freshly baked bread that came with it was just so soft and tasty as well. The ribs were just seasoned simply, but the meat came off the bones. This is a 16-dollar plate and we only finished 3/4 of it because the serving is just massively generous. The people working here are also kind and friendly. Called in an order for 2 trays - whole BBQ chicken & whole shrimp in garlic sauce (both w/ rice and fries) for my old man's birthday dinner...the food smelled AMAZING!!!!! Took the almost hour ride a few nights ago after reading the reviews on Yelp. Got there around 8:30 and walked up and got a little nervous when I saw all the chairs up on the table with seeing the grill being cleaned, floors being swept etc but Danny met us at the door and welcomed us with open arms. In case I forget to type this later I'm going to say this now, their portions are huge!! Ordered a plate of pork cubes/shrimp with rice and beans and plate of the bbq chicken w fries. Also got an order of the steak and one of the chicken empanadas. In a couple of reviews the pineapple of soda was recommended so I tried one of those. I accidentally got the orange soda instead and glad I did. I'm not big on sodas but it tasted so good I got another 1 liter for the trip home. Oh yeah, I also tried the ribs. Juicy and savory with almost no taste of grease. And my stomach survived the night! Hooray!! I think their espresso played a role easing my stomach. Sip one of their espressos before you leave. It's a nice way to end a good meal. I really thought we would be the last ones to be served that night but it got busy and open past 9:00 p.m. I might have to go there on a Sunday morning and watch a soccer game. I have eaten food from here twice. The first time I got the chicken plater to go wort fries and rice. The chicken was cooked very well with great seasoning. Plenty of food for the price. I love this place! Been coming here for years. The owner, Danny, is a friend of mine but everyone that comes in gets treated like a friend. He's very friendly! Their chicken picadinho is my favorite but I equally love their bbq chicken. One of the things I really love is their fries because they're freshly cut, not frozen and bagged like some places.
