Whole chicken, fries and veggies. It was supposed to be chicken/rib combo
    Alison K.

Called ahead to order and it seems our order got a little mixed up, but it was still a pretty tasty meal. This was our first time here. The place seemed pretty busy with all types of people going in and out which we thought was a good sign. We live over 40 mins away so we can't just pop back in if there's a problem. We had ordered a chicken/rib combo with fries and veg but when we got it home it was just chicken. My husband was disappointed. The veg aren't all that either - bland boiled cabbage, carrots and potatoes...and he hates cabbage. They should advertise what kind of veggies you're getting. The chicken was really good though. I ordered the half order pork bits with shrimp with rice/beans and there were no beans and 3 small overcooked shrimp. It was mostly pork which tasted good. There were some potato pieces on the bottom. I thought all meals came with 2 sides unless they gave me potatoes instead. The seasoning on the pork was a new flavor for me, I could not put my finger on it. The potatoes at the bottom soaked up all the oil and made them extra tasty. We also ordered flan for dessert which was pretty large and tasty, but would have liked a little bit more syrup. All in all, we would order again but hopefully they can get the orders right and now we know a little more of what to expect.

Chicken and Rib Combo with yellow rice and black beans

It seems like the reviews for this establishment are a bit all over the place but one thing is for sure, their food definitely warrants more the 2 or 3 stars. One of my friends that lives in the area decided to pick up food from this restaurant before we headed out to see Fifty Shades Freed since we were running late and I am so glad that she did! She ordered a combo that included chicken, ribs, yellow rice, black beans and she threw in an order of French Fries all for $20! Great value if you ask me! She came back with a half a tray of pure deliciousness! The ribs had amazing flavor and were perfectly grilled. The chicken also tasted good and was nice and moist. The yellow rice was your typical Portuguese type of rice and same with the black beans. The fries I also loved! I told my friend that I might drive down just to pick up food from this spot because the food tasted so good and she lives about 20 to 25 minutes away from me! lol Can't wait to eat from here again :)

Very nice staff. Food was okay. Chicken was better in flavor than the pork ribs which were also surprisingly a bit tough.

Ordered take out today and the chicken was dry as bone. Pissed off! Serving old food. I was here last year and was good. Not the same!

There is a huge parking lot so there is ample parking even since the area is busy. The restaurant when I arrived was very clean. There was only one person in front of me ordering with a young man. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and patient and helpful to pick out the best of the menu. I ordered the 3 meat sampler with ribs, pulled pork and brisket. None of the sides looked too appealing so I left them out and didn't get the combo meal. To my surprise it was a whopping $30 for the 3 meats. Granted it is certainly enough to feed two people, I was expecting a side of some sort to come with it, a roll, something. Last minute I was given a cold slaw. Taste wise it isn't the best bbq I've had but if you're a carnivore like me...it will meet the need. The pulled pork had too many overcooked hard areas and the ribs were just okay. Will I be back? Maybe maybe not. I didn't eat anything that I would necessarily write home about but maybe.

It's a scam…read more Similar to Target/Amazon black Friday sale, they put a very hight retail price to make it seem like there's value. For $9 it's okay for 1 meal. I probably wouldn't stop by after trying this TGTG. I'd probably have to spend at least $60 to get a BBQ from here and it doesn't seem worth it. I would hit up Red white and Que in green Brook for decent BBQ around the area.

Staff is friendly and warm, seems like a reservation heavy establishment but we were able to snag a table for 4 upon opening. Shortly after arrival the rest of the tables of 4 and even 10 filled up quickly. The dishes are huge and we left with plenty of leftovers. Happy bellies with meals made from the heart. Spring rolls 5/5 what a huge plate! Crispy and delicious. Bulalo soup 5/5 really hit the spot. Piping hot and could feed all 4 of us as a side or 2 people as a dish. Beef noodle soup (5/5) (had a bit of sweetness in case folks aren't into that) it was incredible tasty, ample meat and veggies and packed with flavor. My girls shared this and still had leftovers. Kare kare oxtail (5/5) anther awesome dish, heavy peanut flavor, loads of veggies (love!) and definitely had leftovers Would absolutely come back and highly recommend. Simple and hospitable space for small and large parties, would suggest making a reservation.

It was about 25 minutes away from where we were but the great experience here made our drive worth. The place is very homey with a wonderful staff. Service is impeccable. The owners are very friendly and has great customer relations skills. The foods are excellent. We had the pleasure of trying their bangus sisig, pork bbq and caldereta. The tastes exceeded our expectations. We learned that their chef hailed from Luzon so the degree of cooking style satisfied our taste buds. The calamansi drink I had was fabulous. Honestly, the best I had so far. Our halo/halo dessert was heavenly. Satisfied our sweet tooth. The serving size is in huge portion. Each order is shareable by around 2-3 people. Pricing is higher in comparison to other place but proportioned to the serving size. I have one star less for my review for two reasons- 1.The check includes a service charge that confused us if a gratuity should be given or not. We need to Google first for right information. We ended up adding gratuity for their hospitality . 2. Looking for parking spot is challenging. We ended up downloading the town's parking mobile app to get parked closer. We are willing to return if ever we are near the area.

I really miss Portuguese BBQ in NJ from when I used to work in Newark, but rarely come out this way…read moremuch anymore. BBQ joints dotted the landscape in the Ironbound neighborhood. But I found Long Ave BBQ on a Yelp search and on a trip back on I-78, I took a detour through Hillside to pick up dinner. The place reminds me of all the hole-in-the-wall places in the Ironbound with stainless steel covering everything, a brick pit charcoal grill and a giant ventilation hood sucking all the smoke up through the chimney and the whole neighborhood smells like BBQ. One innovation I see is that they use a motorized grill basket system that's constantly turning a bunch of grill baskets with chicken & ribs sandwiched in them. After perusing the menu, I order the Parrillada Portuguesa, a huge family meal for 6 people, that'll last my little family of 3 for 3 days. The PP comes with grilled chicken breast, a half chicken, pork ribs & cross sliced beef short ribs (Korean LA Kalbi style). The slices of chicken breast are too dry and with not a lot of flavor, but the pork ribs have that Ironbound Portuguese charcoal flavor I miss so much (even though a few ribs were a little tough to chew). The BBQ half chicken is alright, but not as much flavor as Peruvian rotisserie style and the short ribs are not as good as Korean style. I think they should do whole beef ribs Southern style, low and slow or even a whole beef brisket would be great. The Parrillada comes with 2 side dishes that are not shy by any means. You get an aluminum tray filled with 1/2 french fries and 1/2 rice that will be enough for 3 meals also! Next time, I would come back just for a full rack of the pork ribs, but I hope that the pitmaster doesn't overcook it.
