We visit here quite often. It's been hit or miss now for a while.. tonight they overcooked my salmon. They always seem to have different weight staff although everybody is friendly. I think we'll be taking a break from this place. They need better cooks. read more

We have past this place so many times and only live less than 10 minutes away and never stopped in. Very glad we did. We ordered the 1/2 order of ribs and the piccadinho misto. We shared everything and really enjoyed our meal. We had enough to take home for 2 more meals each with only the half order. Such a great deal. Next time we'll save even more money by ordering one full size dish. Our server was very nice as well as the woman behind the bar area. They both took care of us well. read more

Very good place to drop in on if your in the area. Not much for the rest in. Few tables that's it. But take out is plentiful as I seen while eating. I tried a breaded fish salad that was really good that I ate there. Fresh and tasty for sure. And got a order to go. fresh tilapia w/ shrimp cooked in a house cream sauce served w/ rice & vegetables I tasted it once got home and it was really good. Potatoes were cooked very well. Needed little salt and pepper but really good. Shrimp and fish was perfect. Can't wait to finish it later. I pass this place all the time going and coming from the bowling alley. This restaurant is very popular, with a strong local following. I stopped in at 4:30 PM on a Saturday for a takeout order, and it was packed. I hadn't been here in ages, so I gave it a shot. These Portuguese BBQ joints all operate the same way, serving generally overcooked char-grilled meats with huge helpings of rice and/or potatoes for cheap. This place is slightly above average for the category. The chicken skin was seared just right, chargrilled with a flavorful rub. The dark meat was moist, but the white meat was dried out. I avoid deep-fried food, so I ordered the corn and rice. The corn was inedible, flavorless and tough. The rice with the shredded carrots was good, nicely seasoned. Taking this home in the covered aluminum foil pan usually guarantees dried-out chicken or ribs and soggy fries. This food might be better if you eat it there, as long as you can stand the tumult and way-too-loud music. read more

We have been coming to the CLARK BBQ for years so I was natural that my girlfriend would want to go there for her birthday. It was Saturday June 21, 2025 around 6:30 and the lot was noticeably empty. We were greeted as we entered and the usual, "Sit anywhere but the big booth" was said. We sat at a table, where we sat and sat and sat, ignored by the waitstaff which seemed to be comprised of two post high-school males who completely ignored us. After about ten minutes I loudly suggest that maybe we should eat elsewhere, finally someone noticed. After excuses were made bu the server and our order taken, out food was brought to out table by a female server. She brought anything we needed, but when it was time for the check, our original was too busy talking with an adjacent table to notice. The other male server was too busy scrolling on his phone to care. To actually pay the bill so we could leave and go elsewhere, I had to take the check to the bar as the poor service continued. As we left, I commented to older guy with beard who was behind the bar that this was the worst service ever. This was met with a very insincere sorry.... I have no problem if the owner or manager wants to hire relatives for the summer, as long as those persons are competent. However, this wasn't the case. Probably our last visit to the Clark BBQ, the good food doesn't make up for the crappy service. read more

Actually every meat is juicy here. From ribs, pork misto, and shrimp, the chefs must eat their own food while cooking! They even have their slightly fried codfish special paired with potatoes and peppers. Love garlic flavors and sangria? You chose the right place. Do try some of their Super Bock, a great beer! If you're not full enough after all you just ate, there is dessert too! Pricing is amazing for what you get. Most are forgettable serving up weirdly butchered cuts of meat to maximize profits. More than six years ago, my wife's friend, who lived nearby in Linden recommended we try the place. We did and have never looked back. Want good Sangria? It's here. The ribs are full ribs, not the hacked up stuff you find at nearby places. Great grilled chicken. The Picadinho is awesome. Picked up food for my family after a wake. We ordered 3 whole chicken meals, 3 whole rib meals, 2 garlic shrimp appetizer, 2 orders of mozzarella sticks and a large salad. They were wonderful, put everything separately on trays. Everything was AMAZING, the people behind the counter were wonderful. Last day in Jersey! I saw this place nearby from yelp apps. So I figured why not, only 3 minutes away. It was a small place in the corner. Quite convenient. For small place they are quite busy. I saw a lot of take out. And quite busy in the dining room as well. I ordered grilled short rib. It came with rice and fries but I opt to just get fries . Ordered here recently and have ordered a few times before. The food is average. We had the half barbecue chicken and half rib combo for $15. The french fries are pretty tasty. Sometimes the chicken is very dry. Sometimes I feel that this place does so much business that they really don't care about their customers. I ordered $125 worth of food for a party a few weeks ago. At the time I pick up the food, the restaurant was not very busy. There were three employees behind / near the counter and they all watched as I struggled to carry out the seven large trays through the two doors of the exit. It was more than enough for the both of us and the food was very tasty. When I went to pick up the order, they couldn't find it and I was asked if it could be under another name. Since I only gave my first name, that answer would be No. I suggested trying to find it by the order. Eventually they did find it but no apology, not even a smile, and since my Yelp creed is "service is very important", I can't give that 4th star. I was looking for a good BBQ spot nearby and came across this place! We went in and you could tell people were really enjoying. The service was really good, it's not really big so they truly give you a lot of attention and joke around and answer all your questions. One of the gentleman told me to try the Sumol as he grew up drinking it and I had to try. It was really good! The ribs are not saucy but they were good. The chicken is also not very saucy but it was tender and well cooked. The rice was cooked and flavored perfectly. They have their house BBQ sauce which tastes very different for regular BBQ sauce, not spicy, more sweetish and mild. Their hot sauce is not spicy but more tangy so it went well with the chicken. I'd recommend this place for a chill dinner. They also serve alcohol so that's a plus. read more

I think there is something appealing about an eatery that is a bit on the less refined side and not a chain restaurant or a super refined place. While in Clark on a shopping trip I found Clark BBQ Churrasqueira via the Yelp app and given its great ratings I decided to check it out. Now, it is important to note that this was the July 4th weekend, so I suspect some of what I encountered was due to that time frame. When you enter this small restaurant it looks like it used to be a diner that was repurposed. There are benches and tables, a bar (with alcohol) and a nice counter you can sit at. The decor is a bit kitchy, but that kind of appeals to me so I hoped for the best. The first employee was a gent who saw us, but promptly ignored us. I noticed he was talking to a table, so I figured "Okay, he's talking to regulars, gotta keep the customers engaged." Then a waitress flew past us without a second look. Finally I managed to get the hostess' attention and asked for a table for two. We were waved in the general direction of three different tables that were all being cleaned. My girlfriend and I had no idea which table to take, so we just waited for someone to come and finish cleaning up so we could ask. And so we waited. And waited. Finally a couple different staff members came, cleaned the tables up and then sat us at the most uncomfortable booth in a corner. We asked if we could move and with a shrug, we were told we could. We moved. Eventually the hostess came to take our order. Meanwhile the waitress was managing almost all the other tables. It was kind of chaotic for a bit. Meanwhile the phone was ringing pretty consistently as they seem to have a steady take-out business. It all felt a bit messy in terms of service. Eventually we ordered and to the restaurant's credit, the food came fast. I also have to say, this place does not hold back on portions. The amount of rice and meat on the plate was insane. We ordered the pork chops with rice and vegetables and the chicken cutlets with the same. From a pure food perspective, everything was spot on. The rice was perfectly seasoned and delicious with a great texture. The pork chops were nice and smokey flavored, they really had that "grilled" taste and I love that. The edges were crisp while the interior was moist. The chicken was also nice and moist and full of flavor. Despite all the odd service issues, the food was fantastic. I would definitely go back to this place. I suspect some of what I encountered was due to the holiday weekend. read more

And the woman inside at the bar who took my number to call while I waited was really nice as well. From the moment we stepped inside we were enveloped in the delicious smells wafting from the kitchen and welcoming warmth of Natalie and Andre. They gave us their menu recommendations and answered our questions. We ordered the Portuguese sausage appetizer and the boneless chicken cutlet platters with their amazing garlic sauce, and white and red sangria. Everything was fresh and delicious. For dessert we tried the flan, cheesecake, serradura, and flourless chocolate cake (there were 4 of us). The desserts were delectable. We can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu items. Very disappointed. We ordered via Grubhub and for one of the dishes they send fish instead of picadinho. When we called they told us they are not affiliated with Grubhub and blamed the driver for calling in the wrong order and we would have to drive the fish back ourselves to return it ourselves in order to get our correct dish. so many things are concerning ... why are you posted on Grubhub if you are not affiliated? are you planning on reselling that fish you asked us to bring back???? This is probably my favorite Portuguese restaurant. I come here often. This is definitely my go to spot. I even ordered to go on Sundays when I don't feel like cooking. I love the food here. I normally get the boneless chicken cutlet with rice and fries but everything is amazing here. From the ribs to the garlic shrimp. My grandma and mom love the cod fish with potatoes. Just two days ago I rated this restaurant 5 stars and I could not have been more of a fool. Excited to have found this place I ordered food for my team and sent one of them to pick it up. I called to make the order and was very clear, I repeated myself more than once. It was Diego who took my order and Diego who was very rude to me when I called to say the food was incorrect. I received two incorrect orders of very hard dry chicken. Very disgusting. I told him that I ordered ribs combo and rice, received fries and chicken. He said I can have a credit for my next order, which I told him was not likely as I live overseas. He repeated it as if I was a liar. He said he could not credit me so I should rather come in for ribs or a refund of my order. This place is between my business and where I am staying. My employee drove 20 minutes to and back to pick up this incorrect and disgusting order. On my way home I stopped by and he said all he could do was give me the amount of what was missing. Which was less than half what I paid. Now why would anyone waste time to do that? So I told him it was fine. It isn't even about the money. I returned the food to them which was picked through by my staff. Every single person said it was nasty and dry. I'd say hit or miss but just miss this place, their dry chicken and horrible staff. We visited recently for dinner. our party of 5 was seated and given menus. After a wait we placed our orders and they came out in about 15 minutes. We had the sauteed pork cubes with seafood 14.00, others in our group had the combo (half-chicken and half-ribs) for 13.00. Service was fair, we didnt want for anything. the menu was small and basic, a few Portugese items, and a few American ones. Mostly meat, but not as much seafood as I'd like. prices were standard compared to what else ive looked at. The restaurant itself isnt that large, there are many tables and booths squeezed together, theres a bar, with about 6 seats and a small deck with tables outside. A desert case rounded out the restaurant. There wasnt anything special about the decorations, there was a map of portugal and a few other things. The portugese bbq places have become more and more common in the last few years. We decided to go here instead of driving up to the Ironbound. The food was so incredible, we had leftovers for the next 2 days. I'd suggest plate sharing if you go here. read more

Huge portions!!!! Holy moly, I did not realize a platter was enough for 4 people. I came here with the hubs bc I was craving some meat. Originally, I was going to order a chicken platter and my husband was going to order the 1/2 chicken 1/2 rib. Then after reading my handy dandy Yelp reviews, we decided that to share a 1/2 chicken 1/2 ribs platter and add on wing dings. First of all, I wasn't expecting much from the wing dings but they were delicious!!!! They were freshly fried. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I would definitely order it again. The rib and chicken platter came out and my eyeballs almost popped out of my head. It was huge! While both the chicken and ribs were delicious, the chicken was the star of that platter. The fries were delicious and rice was nicely flavored and not dry. We ended up making another meal out of the platter the next night because it was so much food. Next time, I think I'll stick with the chicken and rice platter. For the price and the amount of food you get, it's one of the best values in Union County. My only complaint is that because they are super busy, we were forgotten about a couple times. We had to ask for the check 3 times. I walked into this tiny place and was greeted within seconds - not that surprising considering it'd be impossible to miss someone coming into this small, intimate place. The guy behind the counter was friendly. I ordered the chicken/ribs combo and asked for rice and beans instead of veg/fries; he said it was no problem. To my surprise and delight, my order was ready within...7 minutes or less. A heavy duty aluminum container with the lid securely fastened so it wouldn't leak in my car. I was happy that I wouldn't have to worry about it sliding around or dripping onto my seats. When I arrived 20 minutes later my food was still hot, the beans were in a separate container to keep everything from getting soggy. Nice. Everything was pretty good. Chicken and Ribs flavorful and moist. Rice was flavorful and well prepared; tasted a bit too much like chicken stock but good nonetheless. Bean had a good texture but the flavor wasn't quite as good as the rice; tasted a bit too much like bay leaf. Portion size was huge. Enough for 2 people easily, probably 3. Inside there's some tables and booths if you stay and eat. Real address is 1419 Raritan, not 1416. The yelp map is not accurate, but google maps is. read more
