Food is 4 stars. Tastes like authentic Portuguese bbq and they have all the right sauces like…read moregarlic aioli and chimichurri. NOTE: the beef ribs that everyone's talking about are sliced short ribs. Don't think those big bone beef ribs you get at American BBQ joints. Devil is in the details. What made this place a 3, star is that the staff doesn't introduce the menu and items well. For example, I got the beef ribs with vegetables and sweet plantains (both VERY good btw), they failed to explain that there are SPICY PICKLED VEGETABLES THAT GOES WITH IT. I took a bite of the cauliflower thinking it was the vegetables side, and spat it right out because it's the Portuguese style pickled veggies. If someone didn't eat spicy that would definitely mess them up. Ambiance? None, it's basically a small bodega with 3 pairs of booth seats and 5 bar seats. How is it colder in the restaurant than outside (it is currently March)

Food is great - delicious chicken and ribs, and this time we tried the salmon, which was also very well prepared (albeit not as bountiful as the chicken and ribs), and the sides are great too. By default, the sides are usually rice or fries, but we ordered vegetables the last time, and it was also really good. They also offered and served a garlic sauce to go with the meal, which was really tasty - an oil-based sauce with minced garlic in it. Always a wonderful meal, and I tell people about it anytime I hear they're from around the area!

Unfortunately, this was a truly disappointing experience. We were a family of three hoping for a…read morenice family-style dinner, but nearly every part of the meal and service fell short. Our waiter was difficult to understand and couldn't answer basic questions about the menu. The bread was so overbaked and hard we were worried about breaking a tooth. The shrimp appetizer was very good, although swimming in oil; the Iberico rib meat was greasy and came with raw garlic. When the plates were cleared, oil was spilled onto our table. Then we waited about 45 minutes for our entrees and eventually had to track someone down ourselves. We later discovered our waiter eating at the bar while we were waiting. The octopus was both charred and undercooked and far too salty. The nearly 3-inch-thick pork chop, ordered medium, was raw in the center. The "apricot brandy reduction" was essentially jam on top, and the potato chips were thick and underfried. The $37 pork chop was essentially inedible. Getting the check was another ordeal--we had to ask multiple times and were even brought another customer's check and credit card by mistake. There was no adjustment to our bill. After paying, we also had to wait to get our card back. The bartender did seem genuinely concerned when we told him what happened and ultimately offered 10% off a future visit, but after this experience, we certainly won't be returning. The shrimp were good and the bartender tried to help, but overall the food, service, and handling of the situation were far below what we expected.

I still get the mixed kebab because the all you can eat is way too much for me. Don't sleep on the collard greens. I would order an extra serving so you can mix them with eggs in the morning. Did we wait an hour for our table? Yes, but it was well worth it. There was a spot at the bar where we can chill and all catch up with the peeps we hadn't seen in a min. It was nice to have that time because there was silence when we sat and got our food. We were hungry. One thing I will say, they took away the bowls of olives. I mean I was probably the only one that looked forward to them, so I get it. But holla at me if you feel the same way. Until next year Carvalhos

They do not take reservations on the weekends so be prepared to wait 35-40 minutes for a table since it tends to get packed in the evening. They do have a big bar to have a drink and wait in the meantime. The staff is very friendly and attentive which I loved, they made sure our table was clean and our drinks were filled. Now the food, their appetizers that they bring to the table were just ok; the sweet plantains, rice and beans were pretty good. The French fries were undercooked which no one at the table touched. The salad could have used a little more color but the dressing was really good. The meats themselves were good but could better. I really enjoyed their picanha; it was cooked a perfectly medium. It was juicy and flavorful. The chicken legs and turkey wrapped in bacon were so delicious and well seasoned. When it came to the skirt steak, short ribs and other cuts of meat, I felt like they were on the drier side and not as tasty. They never asked how we liked it cooked (medium or well done) so we just got whichever temperature they were served. I was also disappointed they didn't have chicken hearts since I always look forward to those when I go to a rodizio. Each person rodizio is $54 which is definitely on the higher end and the prices on their website are outdated. I would probably not return; there are more affordable rodizio with higher end cuts.

The service was outstanding from start to finish -- warm, knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food. The restaurant has a very open kitchen, and several of the chefs took time to show us what they were doing and explain the preparation. They were excited to talk about the paella pans, the saffron and sofrito rice base, the wood-and-charcoal fire, and the way the dishes were finished. They clearly take pride in the food and enjoy sharing that with guests. We had the pão with cardamom-chile butter, roasted oysters, garlic shrimp, picanha, the meatball paella, and olive-oil tres leches cake, along with Alvarinho wine and a draft beer. The paella rice itself was excellent, with a very good socarrat and a strong wood-fired character. The pork-and-beef meatballs were good on their own, though for me the combination was a little unusual and I would choose a different paella variation next time. Always changing paella of the day. Seafood would excite me when available. The picanha, oysters, shrimp, bread, and dessert were also all very good. The whole restaurant operated as a team. That added a lot to the experience because the people serving the food really understood how it was prepared. Even small details were thoughtful. Our leftovers were kept at the host stand and we were given a numbered claim disc to retrieve the bag on the way out -- a simple idea that avoids having takeout bags sitting on the table or floor. I had never seen that done before. Overall, Lita delivered very good food with exceptional hospitality. The open kitchen, wood-and-charcoal cooking, and interaction with the chefs made the meal feel personal and memorable. We would definitely return, especially to try another paella variation.
