So we found this little gem! From the moment we walked in we felt so welcome. The owner Mike and server James greeted us with a warm smile and handshake. It is a BYOB but we had a chance to try Spanish wine, a great gift from Mike. My husband had the lobster crepe appetizer and I had the shrimp appetizer, both were very tasty. Hubby ordered the lamb chops for his dinner and I had the beet salad. Not an ordinary beet salad, it had Spanish bacon and duck, both dishes were delicious! We had to finish it off with the homemade flan..so happy we did! My husband wanted a little taste of ice cream and Mike brought out a tasting of 3 kinds of ice cream, strawberry, coffee and some saffron ice cream..I cannot express this enough..if they have the saffron ice cream available..GET IT!! You can thank me later! We'll definitely put this on our list for a good night out! Mike the owner was dining with his family and quickly jumped up to the arrival of a new guest. Michael, the Maitre D', had so much passion and professionalism. We felt as though we were dining with family. As for the food, the appetizers were incredible. Pork and mussels in a rich broth, Jamon and Manchego over greens with a fresh Vinaigrette - both had so much flavor and were perfectly balanced with deep intense flavor. I asked the chef what made the broth so rich after I dipped 4 pieces of fresh bread into it , and I was surprised to hear how he managed to pack such flavor with 4 ingredients. Tried for first time last night and the food was outstanding. I wish I had taken pictures of all the cleaned plates, we thought my husband was going to lick his plate! They greeted you with a complimentary glass of Spanish sparkling wine, then the most delicous focaccia bread and olives. No picture because my teens ate it all in about 3 minutes. Each dish was extremely well made. The favorite was the duck, which everyone thought was amazing. But each dish really was so good it was hard to pick a favorite. Everything was cooked perfectly to chef recommended temperature. The decor was rustic and well done, and loved the open kitchen. Highly recommend and we will be back. read more

Wow. A jaw drop restaurant. From start to finish I was impressed and taken back. Krissy our waitress was phenomenal, she was sweet, knowledgeable and funny. The food was outstanding, who would have thought a tiny restaurant on a quiet street was going to leave us all speechless. There was 8 of us so for appetizers we really ordered it all, Oysters with Chorizo butter baked... i never had something like it, it melted in your mouth, the one at the table that did not like fish was so impressed, the flavor was like no other! Lobster crepe again delicious, it was so different yet unbelievable. Octopus was grilled to perfection. My favorite was the beet salad with pork, bacon and pistachios, the salad was so fresh, but honestly not heavy with so so much flavor! The payella.. OH MY. The scallops were jumbo, full of flavor and to die for. All of the fish was fresh, and cooked to its perfect temperature. We did not stop there, our entrees were also fantastic. We shared most due to the amount of appetizers! The duck, steak and lamb chops were all amazing, the steak had a chimmichurri sauce which was an elegant touch. The lamb chops with pistachio crust and a Marsala sauce, the chop itself was juicy, tender and big! Swordfish in broth, the best way swordfish should be cooked, the flavor of the fish mixed with the spices and broth, it really melted in your mouth. Lets start with service. Very slow, nott attentive, needs more staff. Everyone was friendly. Ambiance is lacking, play some music and lay tables out differently. Now on to food, we had the garlic shrimp to start. They lacked seasoning. Then we had the paella and the ribeye again everything just lacked salt. The best thing we ate was their bread and olive oil. After having two separate recommendations we decided to try Bistro Iberia last night and WOW !!! This place did not disappoint. This little gem hidden along Bay Ave in Highlands has a very cozy vibe (it's the old post office building) and the food was exquisite. Our server Nichole was great and provided us with some recommendations off the menu that were "Spot On". The Lobster Crepes and the Roasted Oysters are a MUST try. The Pealla was delicious and loaded with jumbo shrimp & scallops and the clams & mussels were petite as they should be!!!! For dessert we chose the house made Coffee Ice Cream & Crème Brûlée. Both were delicious !!! Everything right down to the complimentary bread and olives was so good. The owner Mike was on hand last night and he visited our table to ensure everything was satisfactory. I had the ultimate pleasure of dining at Bistro Iberia last night. I was beyond impressed by the exquisite fare, the attentive waitstaff (not to mention tin the owner, who made us feel so welcome! The atmosphere is intimate and warm, with a chic city feel... it's a BYO, which is nice because we were able to bring our favorite wine with us! I had the lobster crepe as an appetizer, off the charts delicious and the portion was just right. Followed up by the swordfish steak, which was so fresh I think they may have just caught it. Very disappointing experience. The food was good--not exceptional except for the Porco Alentejana, which was excellent. My partner found a hair in her lobster crepe and I thought the Bisteca Piri Piri was mediocre. I would not be writing this review though if not for the thoroughly unprofessional service and the chef's indifference when we mentioned it. We waited twenty minutes to receive menus and there were long time intervals, 20 to 30 minutes, between courses. The single waitress in the entire place was nice but seemed overwhelmed and inexperienced. We waited so long we asked for our prix fixe desserts to be boxed only to be told dessert was not part of the prix fixe even though their website says it is. When we got our bill we found we had been overcharged by $30. The tables on either side of us were unbussed or cleaned for 45 minutes. When the chef practically ran by our table, saying over his shoulder, "how was everything?" I said, "So so," because I did not want to embarrass him, expecting him to stop then and ask why when I could tell him quietly. Instead, he shrugged and said, "okay fair enough," and never looked back. I hope he finds this review fair enough and does something about the service in his restaurant. read more

I think the best dining experience we've had this year. The atmosphere is lovely with an old world feel. Personally I prefer to be able to converse with the people I'm dining with and even sitting in the middle of the room we were able to do so. The staff was attentive and warm. The food was amazing. We ordered two appetizers between the 4 of us, the Jamone y Manchego, and shrimp with garlic. Both were fabulous. Main dishes were the seared yellow fin, paella, and lamb chops. I would look forward to reordering any one of these dishes on return. We look forward to returning soon. read more

We really wanted to like this new place. The service was great. Unfortunately, that is where the greatness ended. We got 3 appetizers. The octopus, which was actually cooked perfectly, but barely seasoned on a bed of no taste sauteed celery that added nothing. The charcuterie plate was ok, a few slices of ham and cheese, and the salad was a salad. Each of those was over $20. Two entrees. The Tuna, terrible. Over cooked, dry, zero seasoning over bland unsalted sauteed spinach, and a couple diced potatoes.. the paella.. what can i say about this.. it's a Spanish restaurant and this was one of the worst dishes I've ever had in a restaurant, ever. Nothing about this dish was paella. It was a scoop of precooked dry yellow rice, with way overcooked mussels around it, a couple overcooked shrimp, overcooked scallop, and.. you guessed it, overcooked lobster. Each entree was about $50.. i have no problem with a pricey restaurant, but as long as the food is good. In this case, it was just plain bad. We talked to two other couples as well as and their experience was the same. Sad really. They had potential, but likely won't be getting many return customers. Only reason for the 2nd Star was the service. They were really nice. read more

Was so excited to try this placing since I was just in Portugal. The food all lacked seasoning and was not very authentic Portuguese. The server was nice but not attentive we had to ask for water, a bottle opened and there was almost no one there. The seafood of the paella was over cooked. I am sorry we won't be back. read more

Went there for my birthday, was totally blown away!! This restaurant exceeded my expectations!! I had the lobster crepe for an appt, and the mariscota, not sue how to spell it? It was seafood on bomba rice, perfection! My boyfriend had the steak and my son had the duck breast. Both said their plates were amazing. Our waitress was attentive, yet gave us the space and time to socialize. We were not rushed at all. The desserts were just as good! The chocolate torte was heaven!
