Scallops, Saffron Bomba Rice, and Mussels

We had the privilege of dining at Bistro Iberia and it was perfection from start to finish. Everything from the service, the food, to the incredible story of how this place was founded. Mike the owner was dining with his family and quickly jumped up to the arrival of a new guest. Michael, the Maitre D', had so much passion and professionalism. We felt as though we were dining with family. As for the food, the appetizers were incredible. Pork and mussels in a rich broth, Jamon and Manchego over greens with a fresh Vinaigrette - both had so much flavor and were perfectly balanced with deep intense flavor. I asked the chef what made the broth so rich after I dipped 4 pieces of fresh bread into it , and I was surprised to hear how he managed to pack such flavor with 4 ingredients. For dinner, we had two unique dishes based on the flavors of Spain. Lamb with Couscous and seared Scallops and saffron bomba rice. This place is a gem! And BYOB

Tried for first time last night and the food was outstanding. I wish I had taken pictures of all the cleaned plates, we thought my husband was going to lick his plate! They greeted you with a complimentary glass of Spanish sparkling wine, then the most delicous focaccia bread and olives. No picture because my teens ate it all in about 3 minutes. Each dish was extremely well made. The favorite was the duck, which everyone thought was amazing. But each dish really was so good it was hard to pick a favorite. Everything was cooked perfectly to chef recommended temperature. The decor was rustic and well done, and loved the open kitchen. Highly recommend and we will be back.

Wow. A jaw drop restaurant. From start to finish I was impressed and taken back. Krissy our waitress was phenomenal, she was sweet, knowledgeable and funny. The food was outstanding, who would have thought a tiny restaurant on a quiet street was going to leave us all speechless. There was 8 of us so for appetizers we really ordered it all, Oysters with Chorizo butter baked... i never had something like it, it melted in your mouth, the one at the table that did not like fish was so impressed, the flavor was like no other! Lobster crepe again delicious, it was so different yet unbelievable. Octopus was grilled to perfection. My favorite was the beet salad with pork, bacon and pistachios, the salad was so fresh, but honestly not heavy with so so much flavor! The payella.. OH MY. The scallops were jumbo, full of flavor and to die for. All of the fish was fresh, and cooked to its perfect temperature. We did not stop there, our entrees were also fantastic. We shared most due to the amount of appetizers! The duck, steak and lamb chops were all amazing, the steak had a chimmichurri sauce which was an elegant touch. The lamb chops with pistachio crust and a Marsala sauce, the chop itself was juicy, tender and big! Swordfish in broth, the best way swordfish should be cooked, the flavor of the fish mixed with the spices and broth, it really melted in your mouth. We had an amazing experience, service was incredible, food as you can see was just amazing. BYOB which was fine, we enjoyed it. We will definitely be returning!! Thank you for an amazing night

After having two separate recommendations we decided to try Bistro Iberia last night and WOW !!! This place did not disappoint. This little gem hidden along Bay Ave in Highlands has a very cozy vibe (it's the old post office building) and the food was exquisite. Our server Nichole was great and provided us with some recommendations off the menu that were "Spot On". The Lobster Crepes and the Roasted Oysters are a MUST try. The Pealla was delicious and loaded with jumbo shrimp & scallops and the clams & mussels were petite as they should be!!!! For dessert we chose the house made Coffee Ice Cream & Crème Brûlée. Both were delicious !!! Everything right down to the complimentary bread and olives was so good. The owner Mike was on hand last night and he visited our table to ensure everything was satisfactory. It's BYOB so come prepared. We will definitely be going back !!!

Happy dining experience! Love the atmosphere and ambiance here.

I had the ultimate pleasure of dining at Bistro Iberia last night. I was beyond impressed by the exquisite fare, the attentive waitstaff (not to mention tin the owner, who made us feel so welcome! The atmosphere is intimate and warm, with a chic city feel... it's a BYO, which is nice because we were able to bring our favorite wine with us! I had the lobster crepe as an appetizer, off the charts delicious and the portion was just right. Followed up by the swordfish steak, which was so fresh I think they may have just caught it. Anyway, I enjoy fine dining, and this is as close to 4 or 5 star restaurant, but nice not to have to travel to the city for this lovely experience!

Celebrated our anniversary at Iberia Bistro with paella and duck - both dishes were exceptional. The service was top-notch, and owner Mike's personal touch, discussing his new venture, added to the delightful experience.

The best Spanish restaurant in NJ. Food was amazing and so was the staff. Authentic Spanish food that you just don't find around here.

Let me share my last night experience, arrived at restaurant at 8:53 pm (restaurant closes at 10pm), was not crowded probably 4 tables on the outside patio, where they were showing a World Cup game. We got seated quickly and put the drinks order in right away, and then was when everything went south, in not more than a minute the server came to take our order, we ask for a couple more minutes as we just got the menu and were looking at it, then right behind the table 3 servers start to talk bad about us and saying things like they better hurry up, we need to go home to watch the game, tell them that we only have quick bites or else we not going home tonight ( all in Spanish but we DO understand the language) . Will never go back to this place or recommend it. It's a shame places like this ruin the reputation of great Portuguese restaurants. Also menu is extremely overpriced compared to other Portuguese restaurants. Stay away..

The parking was actually full when we arrived, possibly because of the bar using the same lot. But there is an elevated connected lot for the bowling alley that has plenty of parking. I have to say that the best thing about this place is the service: everyone was very friendly, and quick to attend us. Food was great, except maybe the flake fish (first course). Seemed more Spanish to me than Portuguese though. Portions were huge... actually had leftovers from a dish, which is the first for me from a tasting menu. The prices were reasonable In terms of why I'm giving this 4 star instead of 5: -we were seated at the "Chefs counter", but did not really have a view of the prep, which was really far away. Basically could just see the fireplace. The sister restaurant Heirloom is a much better chef's counter setup where you are seeing everything -Dishes seemed to be regular menu type dishes (just smaller portions), as opposed to super interesting types that you would expect from a tasting menu -Beverage pairing was okay... didn't really love the wines For these reasons, I'd likely return, but just stick to the regular menu/ experience.

It's a very casual, cafeteria-style spot with a semi-open kitchen, but don't let the simplicity fool you -- the food is incredible and the staff here is friendly and patient. The highlight of the experience is the small buffet that features a variety of freshly-made Latin cuisine -- including pulled pork, chicken and beef stews, and other traditional Latin entrees and sides. You can build your own plate by selecting one or more entrees and sides - which are priced accordingly. As a 'gringo' who wasn't entirely sure what everything was, I really appreciated them taking the extra time to explain all the different options and give me their honest recommendations. The counterstaff is bilingual and were pretty patient with my elementary school level Spanish vocabulary and grammar. I ended up going with the pulled pork platter with two sides ($7) and it was terrific -- the perfectly seasoned and tender pork, black beans and rice, and macaroni salad were delicious and very filling. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, and the portions are very generous for the price. If you're looking for authentic, home-style Latino food in a laid-back setting, this is the spot! PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home to enjoy with your meal. Sazon Latino is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: Sazon Latino offers free off-street parking in a small lot behind the restaurant and there's plenty of free on-street parking on Main Street.

I finally decided to put it to bed and check back in. Still no clear way to know what you're getting or how much you'll pay. But I can now help - What they call a "buffet" is really just the trays where you pick what you want to load on your plate. A buffet with meat and 1 side is $7.99. Add a dollar for each additional side. Add a few dollars if you want two meats or double meat. So with that pricing in mind, you can mix and match what you'd like. And it's still a great value. I don't know what tasted stale last time, but the two I had this time - the stewed chicken and their sausage - were both great. The sausage carried a little bit of heat to it, and they threw in hot sauces for the chicken (they asked!). I had yuca fries and they were wonderful as I let them marinate in the stew. So update: This is now added to my Boonton rotation. I'm glad I gave them a second try.
