First time going to this restaurant and I must say after having the pork steak with rice and beans I am compelled to try their other menu items in the near future. I went here after yelping for restaurants in the Newark area. This one had a great review and I concur. Small local establishment. The guy taking my order talked me out of a whole order of the chicken and ribs. He said that it would be too much for me. I'm glad he did because I couldn't even finish the 1/2 order that I got. The chicken and pork are cooked in a rotisserie over a large open charcoal fired oven pit. The meat had great spices on it and the fries were awesome. The rice which is not one of my favorite foods had a really nice flavor to it as well. I spoke to one of the guys there that cashed me out and told him that I was referred to come here by a good Yelp review and that I really liked the food. He shook my hand and thanked me for coming. I love the owner like he was my own father, may he RIP, and now that his son has taken over the company, it has gotten even better to me. I love the garlic chicken breast from this place. I don't get to have it too often because their hours of operation and my work schedule pretty much conflict completely. Ask for extra garlic sauce on your order because that's where all the flavor comes from. I get it with rice and fries or sometimes just rice. Very happy i found this place. As far as Portuguese BBQ places go, this is definitely one of the better ones i have been to. Most places just seem lazy and have dry meat and over stuff there plates with fries or rice. I had the 1/2 BBQ chicken with rice and fries. I've been here multiple times the food was great . But today was different. .. I walked in to horrible customer service . I wasn't acknowledged for 5 minutes . I got very dirty looks. It's happened before but I dealt with it. The man working behind the counter first off was rushing my order and had a horrible attitude . He told me it was 20 minutes for the rice ..
