I've passed this place a thousand times and finally decided to give it a try last night, especially since you can smell the barbecue wafting from down the street. I tried the chicken and rib combo with rice and beans and ordered a side of vegetables (cabbage and carrots). The portion size was very fair, and I was pleased with the meat to rice/beans ratio since some places overload you with rice! I thought the meat was fantastic, tender, and had great flavor. For an extra charge, I purchased garlic sauce, and it was absolutely perfect for dipping the meat in. It also took the rice and beans up another notch! The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the vegetables. They were boiled and had no seasoning, plus there was still a little bit of water in the container, so the veggies weren't as crisp as I'd prefer. I paid extra for the vegetables, but next time, I'll pass and stick with the two sides included with the meal. This is for the Hillside location, I ordered to go, 2 steak sandwichs 1 with cheese and fried onions only and 1 with no cheese but with fried onions and mushrooms only. I picked up the order but when I got back to work I found the cheese steak had ketchup on it but the onions and mushroom steak had let, tom and mayo on it but no onions and mushrooms. I called up and told them the problem, the girl who answered gave me some gief but I said these are what I ordered and would bring them back for new and she said fine. Went back and the I quess, Manager/cook started giving a ration of s^&t about how it wasn't there fault and now she had to do them over, however her Idea of do over was to replace the bread but use the now cold and dried steak over again. Yesterday I ordered 58.00 worth of food for delivery. On the menu I ordered salmon and shrimp and some other items. I asked the man on the phone to repeat my order and he did. I received my food and there was no shrimp and my two salads had green tomatoes. The salmon steaks were so thin it's sad but was seasoned well. If you don't have ripe tomatoes they should've called and explained that there wasn't any instead of giving me unripened tomatoes. I called back and spoke to the young man who took my order. He was very polite and told me that they didn't charge me for the shrimp but would take care of me the next time I came. I was in the area tonight and decided to go back. The older lady at the register tonight was the same lady speaking to him in the background last night when I called. She knew exactly who I was and remembered the order. She immediately jumped on the defense and was very rude. After going back and forth me with me for about 3 minutes. Instead of accommodating me she eventually yells at me well I will give you a half order of shrimp. I kindly told her no thank you and I will NOT EVER go to another Stephanies BBQ. The food is delicious (BBQ Chicken & Ribs) Best in Town, the new ambient with the side porch is amazing, very home felling. The prices $$$ are moderate/reasonable for any level of eating/dining. I work in the area and the only other available options are your typical fast food- McDonalds, Popeyes, Wendy's.... A girl can only eat so much fast food before she feels her health deteriorating. So when I overheard one of my coworkers ordering from this place, I was so excited at the thought of REAL FOOD. The prices are very reasonable and even the half portions are large.
