1 rib and a chicken breast

If i could give them zero stars I would. Since when does a half of a order consist of 1 rib and a piece of chicken. I spent over 40 dollars. I spoke to the owner she told me i have to call hillside location . Why should i when she is the owner. Didnt compensate me or anything i will never spend a dollar at neither one of her restaurants again. This is what i got for a half n half chicken and rib combo. I asked for barbecue sauce and utensils didnt even get 1 napkin. Then very rude on top of that when i called about my order.

Impromptu visit from one of the best men in this cruel world. Our food was great. First time here, certainly not our last. Try the yummylicious chocolate cake or carrot cake.

The food here is AMAZING! So hard to find a place that has an open pot for BBQ. I come all the way from NYC just to eat here. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. I definitely reccomend the Combo dish so you can try a little of each thing.

The place is small. Food took long to come out. Tables were filthy. Chicken was bland. Empanadas were salty. The rice was good. Only stopped here because we were at paint and chill up the street and we were starving

Went here for lunch. Glad I went. Small restaurant. Friendly service. I had the chicken breast in garlic sauce. As a side I ordered rice and beans. Only $10! So flavorful and delicious. The portions were large enough for me to have leftovers for dinner. I will definitely be back. So glad I went.

You got to try this!!!! Yummy.

Most food was not cooked right (under and overcooked). Nothing is seasoned well. Substitutions were made to order without being informed.

But I found Long Ave BBQ on a Yelp search and on a trip back on I-78, I took a detour through Hillside to pick up dinner. The place reminds me of all the hole-in-the-wall places in the Ironbound with stainless steel covering everything, a brick pit charcoal grill and a giant ventilation hood sucking all the smoke up through the chimney and the whole neighborhood smells like BBQ. One innovation I see is that they use a motorized grill basket system that's constantly turning a bunch of grill baskets with chicken & ribs sandwiched in them. After perusing the menu, I order the Parrillada Portuguesa, a huge family meal for 6 people, that'll last my little family of 3 for 3 days. The PP comes with grilled chicken breast, a half chicken, pork ribs & cross sliced beef short ribs (Korean LA Kalbi style). The slices of chicken breast are too dry and with not a lot of flavor, but the pork ribs have that Ironbound Portuguese charcoal flavor I miss so much (even though a few ribs were a little tough to chew). The BBQ half chicken is alright, but not as much flavor as Peruvian rotisserie style and the short ribs are not as good as Korean style. I think they should do whole beef ribs Southern style, low and slow or even a whole beef brisket would be great. The Parrillada comes with 2 side dishes that are not shy by any means. You get an aluminum tray filled with 1/2 french fries and 1/2 rice that will be enough for 3 meals also! Next time, I would come back just for a full rack of the pork ribs, but I hope that the pitmaster doesn't overcook it.

What you really want are the daily specials. Things range from your typical mediterranean cheesesteak (sirloin on a portuguese roll with cheese) that you can add extras such as peppers, to shrimp in garlic sauce, to a foot and a half skirt steak, to paelha. The "Bife da Casa" is a fantastically gooey dish of sirloin, gravy, melted cheese and ham surrounded by chip-style fries that are great for dipping. They have meat, poulty, fish and seafood dishes, so great variety points. Full bar and decent wine and beer options. Quality: Very tasty and ample. They do not skimp out and I have yet to meet a person that couldn't bring home leftovers for the next day if they wanted to. You won't see any super-fancy presentation accept for the roasting of the portuguese sausage, usually flambeed at your table. Service: Managing Owner is young with an energetic spirit and leads a very strong ship. Fast, courteous and with a knack of remembering your typical order when you show up more than once. Very casual with an Portuguese family flair. Service is quick, polite and clean. Decor: The bar is average, nothing really to write home about with a tavern/pub look to it. Long bar counter and ample tables are located here as well. Add some flat screen tv's and you got a good idea. The dining area however is cozy, kinda like a family dining room with enough space for 100 people. Last time I was there, they even had a large big screen tv - just like home lol. Ambiance: The bar is full of rowdy but courteous regulars and their families. The dining room is filled with either tables of 3-4 or birthday parties. You'll see suits mixed with dads mixed with blue collars. The place is not overly romantic, but good for a pre-gaming, week night dinner or sports filled sundays. Expect a lot of commotion on the weekends with patrons in the bar and family parties in the dining room. Many people are either locals or of Portuguese / Spaniard descent. Very mixed crowd early 20's or late 40's. Owner is a big European Soccer and Dallas Cowboys fan - which makes Sundays a great sports place. The jukebox plays a slew of music from all over. The staff ranges from young female bartenders and managing owner to the older owner in his late 50's. Price: Inexpensive - a sirloin cheese steak sandwhich is $6. Most plates that are over $20 are built for 2. Drinks are reasonable and never watered down. Very well priced for catering baptisms, dinner parties or any group-oriented event. Parking: There is a private parking lot that fits about 30 cars right outside the door to the place. Conclusion: This is a great representation of portugese-family-style restaurants that do not skimp out on taste or amount. Not a date place but definitely a friends night kind of place. Lots of good food that will never leave you dissatisfied. Being easy to get to, right off of Route 22, it's a great spot for that loud, obnoxious group of yours that loves good eats. Pros: Food taste Food quality Drink pour Laid Back atmosphere Family-like ambiance Cons: Parking lot may be small and packed Not good for 1st dates H-Cane's Final Spin: I love this place. I usually grab dinner here before I go romp out to the weekend. They got two cooks that really know how to feed an appetite no problem. If you can get over loud and obnoxious - you got yourself a whole in the wall heaven that you can actually hold a decent family party at! If you like gourmet presentations - keep driving. If you like stuffing your face or stiff drinks - park it and play!

Hooray! A Brazilian lancheonette and quilo restaurant!…read more Outside of Hillside and Newark, you'd be hard pressed to find many Brazilian restaurants in the area, perhaps which is why this location is so close to Hillside and Newark! Located in uptown Elizabeth, you'll find that finding a parking spot can sometimes be an absolute nightmare. On my first trip, I ordered off their set menu for their picanha. They have daily specials on a blackboard as well as a quilo buffet filled with delicious fresh homemade options. The picanha was cooked well, of good quality, and was a good portion for the "1/2 lunch portion" for $12 and came with rice, beans, and a side salad. They also make fresh bread and salgadinhos, such as coxinhas, empadaos, pasteis, and kibbeh. On several trips since then, I've gone for the buffet, which offers a variety of typical Brazilian dishes, such as vaca frita, feijao tropeiro, farofa, linguini, fried fish, and more. The buffet goes for $8/ pound or $13 for all you can eat, which is a steal! The owner was very friendly and I'd gladly return again if I'm in the area and craving Brazilian food.

A lot of people took food to-go, but I rather try everything and get more from their $17 all-you-can-eat buffet. A very affordable buffet. The owner was very kind as well, I was curious about a fried dough and she let me try one. She even told me the name of it, but I can't recall. But the texture was chewy and a bit savory. They also sell fresh orange juice. I definitely enjoyed all the different options and friendly atmosphere!
