And when you call them and say something was missing, they do not offer to deliver or have you pick up the missing item. They do not issue a refund for the missing item. Placed an order the other day. The order slow arriving but Uber Eats is to blame for that. Ordered Fried Chicken, Potato Salad and Cornbread from "CORNBREAD'S". I have been going to this location since it opened years ago. The Potato Salad and Chicken had VERY LITTLE Seasoning, I guess I got the OLD PEOPLE salt-less version which is okay because I can add the SALT that should have been there. Now for the CORNBREAD from CORNBREAD'S.. it was brownish instead of yellow and tasted more like cake than bread. How do you screw-up your SIGNATURE ITEM? I tell you how, once a chain gets too big it loses it's quality at times. They start going for PROFITS and not Customer Satisfaction and before you know it, the customers move on. The mgr. said she was short staffed as if that was our fault. She said she would compensate us for the delay. Well, we were compensated with an extra piece of cornbread. The oxtails were great. They give you about 4-5 nice sized pieces. The cabbage was good too. Relatively hit or miss. My go-to is the mac and cheese, which is GREAT. Other foods that I MUST mention are the lemonades, cornbread (fitting), and iced teas. But some of the other stuff is a little cafeteria food-ish. In its early days, it also gave my mom food poisoning, but I do hope they fixed whatever contaminant that was after six or so years. The food always tastes good, though. The service is always just about average. No one seems super happy or like they're trying too hard, but people underestimate how hard it is to be on the clock sometimes. I cannot complain, since no one is inherently rude. The vibe of the place is also solid. Not much above that, though. It feels like somewhere you would go to get a meal in the South, which is what it's going for. I have been past this business in the past but never got the chance to give it a try. I was happy to finally give it a try. When I arrived I parked in their private lot. I walked in and ordered with a nice lady. There was an upstairs and downstairs so the place is pretty big. I ordered the turkey wings, mac and cheese, cabbage and an uptown. I also got the peach cobbler for dessert. Everything looked good when I dug in. The mac was good, the cabbage wasn't bad, and the turkey was flavorful. I personally find orders to be rather skimpy and they often run out of popular dishes, especially the sides. Holidays are risky, even when ordering in advance. The dressing was my least fave though. --the homemade tartar sauce is THE BOMB!!! Make sure you ask for it. DO NOT eat the stuff out of the packets. --if you dine in, they will bring your food to you.
