The food is always fresh and the steak tender cooked to perfection. The ambience is causual comfortable and fun. No loud music to interfere with good conversation with your party. It felt like going to dinner at an old friend's home. The crowd was happy and talkative, the food was overflowing on your plate. This small, unassuming restaurant, a mere 15 minutes from Short Hills was a great treat. Generous portions of chicken, beef, ribs or fish were accompanied by your choice of sides which included fries, boiled potatoes, rice, beans and veggies. Don't forget to try the Spanish chips. There is something on the menu to satisfy everyone in your party. The staff was friendly and helpful..service was quick but not rushed. Everyone seemed to know everyone in the restaurant, again that family feel, but welcomed the newcomers with opened arms. A full bar was active with "regulars" while televisions with news and sports played in the background. My kind of place, no thrill just straight to the point great food , sports (plays soccer all day and other sports) and good wine. I live in a area that has a lot of Portuguese food in such a short readies. But rei da manivela taste like somebody's grandma made it with the most love. The beef rib is by the best beef rib I have ever had, I legit think I can live off of it. The mixed veggies in garlic? Omg delicious Love this local spot, feels homey, everybody is super nice and the food hits every single time. read more

Wow, what a wonderful experience. I loved this place. Went with my co worker, we were in town for the week and wanted to find a local joint, this place was it! I don't know squat about Portuguese food not do I speak any but wanted an adventure. The staff was friendly and the kitchen full of pleasant smells. Honestly a hole in the wall but had some okay food! I ordered the codfish with chickpeas and broccoli instead of potatoes and had one of the best fish meals I've ever had in my life even though it was also the only fish I've ever eaten with some many bones.... I also ordered a shell steak which I was not to fond of for the the steak had too much fat and very little amount of meat and the fries are freezer bags instead of fresh cut. As always they give a mountain of rice a about two spoonfuls of freezer fries and charge me $20 for it. It sort of leaves you a little bit discouraged to ever buy it again especially after paying $20. I'll stick to the basics and have just chicken and ribs but the codfish meal is the only dish I highly recommend. read more

You can easily drive by and not notice this restaurant. If you are looking for a fancy place to show off on social media, this is not necessarily the place for you. However, if you're looking for tasty Portuguese food (made fresh) at a very reasonable price, then this is the place for you. I recently bought four trays of food for a group of 10 people. Everyone loved the food, there was leftovers, and my wallet is happier than everyone. Great place and I would definitely recommend it. read more

My favorite is the ribs and chicken but there's more to choose from...they have such a great variety of Portuguese food Im sure u won't be disappointed. I recommend you call well in advance if you order takeout. But don't worry you can get a glass of great red Sangria while waiting. THE WORST PLACE EVER!! I been coming here for over 5 years and its very clear they have new owners, management, and Cooks. THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE!!! I picked up my order drove home all to find out that my Shrimp was over cooked, my veggies were burnt, and the chicken didn't taste good at all, so I drove back to the restaurant to complain and the Manager FERNANDO appeared to already have an attitude, I explained what was wrong and he acted like he didn't understand how, he even tasted the shrimp and said "it taste fine to me" (dismissing my complaint) so i ask for a refund and as he giving me my money back he Says in a loud voice You know how many orders I do a day and nobody complains I told him I been coming here for over 5 years and it never tasted this Bad , He cut me off mid sentence and Yelled very aggressively I DONT CARE HOW LONG YOU BEEN COMING HERE!! So instead of arguing I proceeded toward the door in which He was walking up behind me to the point that I had to tell him if he didn't step back I would call the COPS!!! Superb food!!!!! They have a dish called the 'Estoril' Chicken breast smothered in a homemade out of this world garlic sauce with shrimp and mushrooms topping it. Rice and Spanish fries.
