When we landed we headed here since we were staying at the hotel anyway. While I wouldn't go out of my way to come eat here if you do happen to be at the hotel it's a solid option. We got to the Marriott after a flight that took longer than it should and wanted something for dinner that was fast and tasty. The AG did not let us down. We got the buffalo wings (naked, not breaded, normal bar food size, 6 wings), the sliders, and the classic flatbread (oblong thin cheese pizza). All were good and served hot. The service was pretty fast: the water took the drink order as we were getting seated. They arrived maybe 5-10 mins later when he took the food order. The food arrived maybe 10-15 mins later. We were very happy with the service and the food's taste. Came back for breakfast. Same deal. Fast service and food delivery (maybe 5 mins later). I recommend the All American with bacon. The dish had 5-6 pieces: more generous than most places. Juice, coffee, and toast were included. IMHO, this is an actual deal for a hotel restaurant. read more

Very kind servers and yummy food, it was just wildly overpriced. I understand there is a price of convenience but man, I ordered a pretzel, 6 wings and a soda and it was $35. I spend 200 nights a year on the road so my expectation for hotel food is not fantastic. But even this fell below standard, which is disappointing for a full service Marriott when there are no other options nearby. Only a couple people in for lunch- brought my order- which was wrong to the table- then gave it to another guest because we didn't think it was mine. Then realized it wasn't what he ordered so they then tried to bring it back to me. At that point it's been passed around. I asked for a new club sandwich- with the correct side. They agreed to do that- I will assume they made a new one but odds are they didn't. The club was the most lackluster, bland club I've ever had. Compared to the Westin in the DTW airport which is excellent- this was a waste of money. $25 for that and glass of water. Save yourself and just get something out of the sundries shop. read more

Tiny menu for a hotel restaurant. They only had 4 main course choices. I had the shrimp risotto. The shrimp were cooked well. The risotto was slightly mushy, not creamy. The wine selection by the glass was limited. I'm general found the price point to be high at $61 for the dish and one glass of Kim Crawford Chardonnay. The ambience was very nice. The service was good. The fish tacos were excellent. However the tortillas were dried out in the edges like they had been sitting uncovered all day. It didn't totally detract from the excellent flavor but a bit of the texture. The house salad was well balanced with the ingredients, the balsamic dressing has no sweetness to it at all. However the salad was not super fresh. There were several pieces of bad greens, several of the olives were mushy as were a few tomatoes. I still ate it and didn't complain as overall it was good and I just picked the bad looking stuff out. It's sad as this is a nice restaurant and a simple pick up on a few things would make this a much better restaurant. The prices were very fair. We were overnighted here die to a delay. If I stayed at this hotel again and didn't have a car, I'd definitely dine here. If at the airport, I'd never do the logistics to get here. read more

We stayed at the Marriott hotel and this restaurant was located in the lobby area. It looks small, but it's actually quite large with extra back room areas for larger parties. They had no trouble seating out party of 12. Food: The first time I came for lunch and ordered a medium burger. Bad idea! The burger was charred on the outside and I couldn't get past the burnt taste to enjoy it. The next day for dinner I had the buffalo wings which were a winner! Drink: Malibu Bay Breeze was very good! Not on the menu, but with the help of the nice bartender it was made. Dessert: The sorbet was really good. I mixed the raspberry with the lemon and I was a fab of raspberry. As airport/hotel eateries go, the Aviation Grill within the Newark Airport Marriott is an unexpected find. The vibe is relaxed, the service is crisp and my cheeseburger was deliciously rare. I'd probably not come here by choice but given the overpriced roadkill so often encountered in the terminals, I can honesty say that I was not disappointed in any way. A tasty burger and the faint whiff of jet fumes to tickle my nostrils. Life could be worse. Five easy stars. read more

All very delicious, beautifully prepared and presented! The Aviation Grill, named for the nearness of aviation. It's in the Marriott Newark Airport but you have exit the airport and take a bus to it. Very annoying. Do not dismiss the Aviation Grill as another hotel restaurant. I admit to doing just all the time but Aviator is an exception. That's lucky because if you are trapped in Newark (thanks, United) it is the only restaurant in walking distance around the Marriott. Aviator is open late, serving food until 11pm. And bartender not only knows how to make a Negroni, he told me how I wanted to order it. Even with COVID19 precautions and a limited menu this restaurant is very good. I was super I more twitch the service the bartender was super attentive and friendly. I was amazed how quickly the food came out. I had a turkey burger and was it was great. The meat was flavorful with the perfect amount of cheese. The frys were super hot and fresh and was very potato tasting. I thought the house wine was very good and the pour was above average. As someone who knows how stressful and hard working in a restaurant is, watching these two serve an entire restaurant by themselves was very impressive. Full restaurant of 30+ people probably and Cory and Leo handle is with professionalism and grace. Customer service to the utmost even while trying to serve everyone. The food was good as well. We came into town after a nice long day of flying from San Francisco. Our ride was running late so they recommended we chill at the Marriott bar. Begrudgingly we walked across the parking lot and headed on in. The first thing we noticed was the nice seating area. We grab a couple of the cozy chairs near one of the big screens where our home team was on (sorry Warriors, you will get them next year!) Leo came over and asked if we wanted to order any drinks. A couple of tall waters and tasty beverages arrived shortly and they were yummy. Well, should I say mine was yummy. I attempted to order a drink for my husband and it turned out not to be his favorite. Leo noticed, came back and nicely offered to get him something else. Aviation Grill is a typical hotel restaurant located inside the Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott. The decor is on the darker side making the area seem a little more intimate. Because of the convenience and variety, I chose to have lunch and dinner there over the executive lounge. The prices were what one would expect with a hotel restaurant as well as the quality. What makes this stand out above the rest is that you can order directly from your Marriott app. You can choose room service (additional fee) or to pick-up. The pick-up feature provides you a "ready within 30 minutes" kind of message but it is not a push message. I gave them the full 30 minutes not knowing what to expect and my food had been sitting on a counter but I don't know for how long. The one improvement I would suggest is that it alerts you when to come get your food so it isn't getting cold. read more

I had dinner here on Christmas night. I was not expecting much (and kind of feel bad for those away from family). It was really crowded with lots of holiday travelers, but air found comfy sofa in front of b-ball game. It is a really nice set up, very inviting (particularly since practically monopoly for those staying). The wine list was decent, but more of a beer place. I ordered french onion soup and a flat iron steak. The soup was perfect, perfect blend of cheese, onions, and bread. I was pleasantly surprised gyoza the steak and roasted potatoes. Really nice piece of beef cooked just as ordered with nice sauce. My only slightly knock is that service was kind of slow because of large crowd (soup cam out before my wine). Convenient as it is across from the lobby so we were able to go in and grabbed a quick late night dinner. This could be a good place to hang up and get a drink or a meal for those who have a long layover at EWR airport as the Marriott Hotel offers a 24-hour free shuttle if you don't want to walk across the big parking lot to the hotel. Came for dinner after our meeting at the Marriott. We ordered some wings as an appetizer. While they were large in size they seemed to have no skin and were not breaded. The sauces, served on the side, were bland and did not help the chicken much. I had the trout as an entrée and while it was cooked nicely it needed more flavor. The crabmeat stuffing was skimpy and needed some additional seasoning. I should have went with what everyone else ordered, a burger. This is the worst burger I've had in a long time. It is for sure a pre-portioned frozen meat patty with a bun straight from a package. The flatbread pizza was cold. They were out of the kids hot dog meal. We took an order from the restaurant straight to our room. The service was fine. The hostess, who was very nice, gave us a menu. The first server that came over told us to use a phone to place our order. The second server (we were still looking over the menu, I wasn't a jerk looking for someone else) came over and offered to take our order. I'm not sure if I was just very hungry and tired, or if the order actually took a long time to come out - to then be cold straight away. I will say the bacon on my burger was perfect. One should not hold high expectations for in-house, sole eateries at airport hotels, for they have a truly captive clientèle and could do almost anything they want and still keep their customers. In that sense, one should be grateful that the service here is really good - friendly, attentive and efficient. Otherwise, the dishes range from mediocre to average, and prices are on the high side (albeit not exorbitant). Incidentally, they upgraded their name from Aviation Café to Aviation Grill, but the décor and offerings are still essentially those of a café. read more

The Aviation Grill is a great Hotel restaurant. Located in the Marriot at EWR Airport. Having stayed at the hotel and eaten here numerous times, the food and service is fantastic. I've had the salads, pork chop, burgers, and fish soup, apps... all fantastic. Cooked perfectly and healthy portions... my only recommendation is all salads dressing on side, balsamic for chopped salad... and 1/2 the dressing on Cesar Salad. Pork chop today.. bone in 12oz soy au jus. Fabulous. Served with asparagus and homemade whipped potato's . Very good. Sat in bar area. Bartender checked on me numerous times. All good. Good beers on tap... decent wines... full bar. Never had a bad experience here. Only thing I won't order is breakfast..$20 for first meal of day.. I'll choose fasting. Enjoy! Pork Chop yes... If you have problems with digesting gluten/wheat products, don't go near this place. I do not have ciliac disease, but eating a piece of bread will consign me to being near a toilet for the day after eating it. I got an expensive burger here last night, ordering the gluten free bun the menu claims is available. Guess what? The slacker kitchen staff ignored the request. Then I had a flight the next morning. If someone had ciliac, they'd be in the hospital about now. Otherwise, the burger was dry and insipid. read more
