The breading was not done properly and came apart easily, and the meat had an old, gummy texture and taste. The red beans also did not taste the way Cuban-style red beans should taste. They should be creamy, savory, comforting, and seasoned with flavors like garlic, onion, peppers, cumin, oregano, and bay leaves. They should never taste sour or vinegary. The white rice should look fresh, fluffy, and separated, not clumpy, or questionable in texture or flavor. The moro with black beans and rice was okay, but it needed more bay leaf flavor and deeper Cuban seasoning. The oxtail was good, tender, and enjoyable, but it was missing some of the rich Cuban-style flavor depth that comes from slow braising with garlic, peppers, onions, wine, and spices. The best part of the meal was definitely the desserts. The vanilla flan was very good, and the coconut flan was excellent. It was rich, creamy, and full of coconut flavor, with shredded coconut pieces that added wonderful texture and made the dessert stand out.
