If you're looking for a true ports bar in the Ironbound section of Newark, this is the only one available. Friendly bartenders are always there and they have a good food menu along with specials of the day everyday. One of my favorite items here is the Blitz Burger, be forewarned come hungry! Good mix of beers on tap and bottled, plus there is a wide selection of wines too. I would recommend this spot for an avid Football fan on Sundays and any soccer fan trying to catch a good Champions or Europa League game. read more

We had a long layover at Newark Airport and wanted a place to catch the NFL playoff games, eat, and have a few drinks. It was about a 10 min Uber ride from the airport. Blitz is definitely a locals bar but everyone made us feel welcome but you could tell everyone else there were regulars. They have several televisions so there are many spots to get a good view of the game. My wife called to verify they were open (because we all know Google and even Yelp hours can be wrong) and to make sure they had tables available but she was hung up on. We were already in the Uber so i decided to give it try anyway. The servers and bartender were friendly when we arrived (whew). My biggest complaint is that parking is terrible so Uber if you can. The bar doesn't have a big selection for cocktails and they were out of several items. The beers were cold and the items we ordered were delicious. We had some friends that lived in the surrounding area join us. We had wings, chicken quesadillas, mozzarella sticks, and grilled chicken salad (and several beers and ciders). The wings were fried perfectly (they provided the sauce on the side). All of the chicken in the salad and quesadillas were juicy with excellent flavor. The mozzarella sticks were good but nothing special. I would recommend them if you have a long layover. I come here regularly to pick up the wings! I love them. They are crispy and have good sauce options. They have Portuguese food options that are delicious. Alcohol prices I do believe are a bit high for the place. Most places are $5-6 bucks for a white claw. Here is $7. They have a live band on Friday's that's very nice but can be a little loud Would recommend to eat tho! read more

My four star rating isn't because this place is super awesome, it's because it's really good in it's category of a local, kind of divey bar which I often like to visit when I am on the road for work. Stopped in on Tuesday night while I was in town. The place was not very busy, just a few locals at the bar and some guys playing foosball in the back room which also has a pool table. This is primarily a soccer and football bar. It's not fancy but it's a great local bar. Karaoke started later in the evening, which I could've done without. Quite a few TVs at the bar. Decent selection of beer and hard alcohol. The food was average bar food. The staff was really friendly, and provided great service. I will definitely stop back next time I am in town looking for a casual place to sit and watch a game. read more

This bar sucks.. the girls can't speak English , and you don't get the same waitress so none knows what you i ordered and it becomes redundant. I Had friends that ordered double Jake and coke and instead of entering a double Jake and coke they had to charge you for two drinks instead of a Jack and coke with an xtra shot . The food is awesome I had the strip and the skirt steaks and they were great. but you really have to be careful because I feel like they add beers or drinks onto your tab and you have to keep watch. Wow..... .. please avoid this place at all cost. They didn't know what a double jack and coke was,when they finally figured it out, they ended up charging double the cost of a drink so it ended up being $16 per double Jack and Coke. That's $64 for four double Jack and cokes. Two for my wife and two for me. Are you kidding me. The drinks were weak and the atmosphere was not all that. What I liked about this spot is the ambiance and the fact that they have a pool table, the food is great Saturday the house cod is delicious, how ever if you go during the week is not the same chef preparing the food, the service depends on which girl you get as waitress. Awesome little bar in Newark! We were just in town visiting and had a few hours to kill before our flight and found this place Ironically on 'Yelp' so decided to Check it Out. It's like 7 minutes from the Airport, relaxing environment, Food was so good! Drinks were pretty cheap and they have a foosball and pool table in the back. Victoria (the really cute Bartender) was the only on working at the bar and was so sweet making us feel welcome and checking in on us. Definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting Newark or just in the area and needing a place to hang out. read more

Blitz Sportsbar is a very well maintained establishment. The renovation really gave the place such a fresh ambiance. This is a very clean and organized bar. This place is popular with locals/ regulars, so get there early. I went on a Sunday to drink beer and watch football. The staff was very attentive and the patrons were really friendly. The drinks were reasonably priced, and the food was with a Portuguese/ Brazilian flare. They had EVERY NFL game on (Direct TV Sunday Ticket). We normally take out from this bar. Portions are gigantic! Classic Portuguese and Brazilian menu but it is made very well. I recommend.

Not a big fan of this place, usually extremely overcrowded, God forbid there is a game on and very hard to find parking.

I would leave no stars, if possible. It was our first time there with friends who go on a regular. My husband and I ordered a double jack and coke (2 each). This bar wasn't set up to do doubles.... the waitress had to ask the bar first. This is where it went downhill.... the waitress should've come back and explained to us that they weren't set up in the system to bill out doubles..... instead they charged us TWICE per drink. So one drink costed $16! So we were charged $64 for 4 drinks!!! We were in Newark..... not NYC! NEVER again. read more
