OK, so for the past year I've been eating from this place and I didn't know that this is where it was being ordered from until I picked up my order yesterday I got some perineal plantain and rice that rice was seasoned to the Lord. It was so good. The Pernell was perfection the crackling godsend. My plantains were so sweet and they gave me a nice hearty amount. I cannot wait to go back and try more food, I will be returning the service even though it was just a quick pick up amazing the loveliest, ladies and gentlemen I've met in a long time. Amazing food!!!!!! I love it. Pay under $20 bucks and food is good each time. It's really good.

Prices are not posted. Portions are skimpy and prices are ridiculous. I just spent $35 on a lunch that I left 70% of it on the plate. Really bad. They add in their own tip if you buy the lunch at the buffet table and sit down. My lunch consisted of rice, beans and 5 small pieces of oxtail, 50% was bone. $35 is insane! read more

Experience March 14 2020* Came here because I was in the area and I'm so happy I did . They did an awesome job operating during the beginning stages of the pandemic. Everything was cleaned and tables were 6 feet apart . The services was really good. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh and I loved ! The oxtails ! I woke up on Sunday with a hankering for some mangu with tres golpes. Sadly, there are no Dominican restaurants in Kenilworth but I found this place that was about a 12 minute drive in Elizabeth. The mangu was a little on the wet and mushy side but tasted good. The Yuca was good as well. Now the tres golpes, salami, queso y huevos were really good and good portion size. I'd go back to try some of there other menu items. Its at these moments I miss Washington height in NYC where I can wake up at any time and get some good food. read more

Came here with a friend after hearing it's one of the best Dominican restaurants In Elizabeth nj. The server had a attitude face. Is either she was having a bad. Day or did not want to serve us. She kept grilling at both of us and people like this should not be on the floor. I had mashed potatoes with fried cheese, longanisa, and eggs. (Chinola juice) My friend had smashed plantains salami,longanisa and fried cheese. ( lemon juice) Server was slot to bring the food. Table was not balance and squicky. The food was great a bit greasy with the longanisas. when the bill came in it was 30 !! Really 30 dollars for breakfast. I understand lunch or dinner. This place is too expensive. read more

The pernil and chicharron w/lime are so darn good. We are picky about our pernil even the white rice was delicious. Don't get it twisted, you can mess up white rice (lol) but this was really good. My family wants to order the pernil for parties from now on from them. read more

Food was mediocre. Menu is very limited. The empanadas were good especially the cheeseburger empanada.

Serving size was not small as other ppl say, two orders of the mangu with egg and cheese. It fed my wife and I, my 17yr and 6ry old. I decided not to get the fried salami and they offered me extra one egg to supplement at no charge. When I got there the lady was very nice and mentioned that she also added an extra cheese to my order because she felt bad charging me the full price without getting a full order. This is your basic Spanish variety at good prices for large portions. A Dominican emphasis cleary apparent from the many paintings to the light festive music playing in the back ground. A little bar with stools available along with many 4 tops in the fairy clean dining room. The menu is rather limited with white or yellow rice complimenting almost every dish. I vied for the Oxtail upon yellow rice and red beans. The beef was a little on the small side, but they were tasty and the portion will encourage a doggie bag. Rice and beans cooked perfectly as most good Spanish places always get it right. A few plantains added cooked perfectly moist. The chicken soup was ok, nothing special, but without dissapointment. Most dishes are around $10 with dinner running more actually quite a bit more if your ordering a steak, but once again a quite sizeable portion. I enjoyed my meal. The service is of your typical island fare ( meaning they will come and go at their leisure). BYOB bonus. I wouldn't go out of my way or make it a date destination. Now I love me a Resto with Delicious Food - large portions - great prices - There you go! I love the steam veggie platter - it is cooked to perfection. The Bake Chicken is awesome as well. I also had the Pork Chops - which was also delicious. I have yet to try all the other dishes - which I plan to very shortly! Had the steak and onions and the steak with bell peppers, both with a side of rice and peas (arroz con gandules) and some sweet plantain. We couldn't sit and eat but did notice the nice plating of the food while getting my order to go. The place appears very clean and neat and gives a good presentation of the food and service. Once I got home I dug right and was not disappointed, the food was super delicious, the steak in both dishes was so tender and marinated to perfection, the rice and peas cooked perfectly. Me and the family will definitely be back to try other dishes and take time to eat in to gain the full experience. read more

My husband bought food from here twice so far. we have no complaint about the taste but much like the other reviews I do agree that the prices are inflated. We are familiar with Latin food and originally from the Bronx where we can get breakfast for five or six dollars this place is charging $11 for the same thing. Outrageous. read more

Our order included pork chops, steak, and a chicken sandwich. Overall the food was just OK. The pork chops had decent flavor. The steak was a little tough and oily but was still good. I had to take off stars for the sandwich though. It tasted good, but something tasted burnt. I turned it over to find the while underside was burnt basically almost black. That, unfortunately, is not OK. Because it was our work lunch and we didn't find out until we returned back to the office, we did not have time to call and complain. Decent food but this establishment lacks honesty and integrity. Each time I have went I was charged a different price. Furthermore, being that I don't speak Spanish, the prices were raised even higher. This is bad business and one sure way to loose out on long term costumers just to make a quick buck. If Punta Cana displayed honest business techniques, they would be more apt to attract a different clientele and attract people from other towns and the Kean University community. The waitresses do look like they don't really like their job too much , but besides that I think the prices are good for the portions they offer you ... ordered for 2 but 3 could of ate and paid 35$ so I don't think it's bad .. really really good food ! This place has gone totally down. I believe they changed ownership and that's the reason why. The prices are not clear and they always charge you a different amount for the same food. I go inn one night before they close and can tell that the food has been sitting there and is most likely cold, but I don't mind becouse I usually really love their food. Since I know their little pricing scheme, I asked the price beforehand. When the server finishes serving, the owner, manager or whatever she is, whom had been sanding there, with a sour face the whole time, cames to charge me. She charges 30% more than what the initial lady said. When I ask her why, she is completely hostile and the other workers were just laghing in the background. I was so embarrassed and uncomfortable. When I get home, half a mile from the restaurant, I have to deal with everyone complaining that the food tasted old and was cold. I will NEVER go to this place again. There are wonderful places to eat in Elizabeth, don't waste your money here, specially if your treating other ppl. read more
