My boyfriend and I went for date night, it's a cozy little place. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We had two of the specials. The scallops swapped in bacon were mouth watering and the skirt steak melted at every bite. It was our first time there and we will be back !

THE BEST EVENING WAS SPENT HERE. The dining area wasn't too full when we went - which was great. We had some items on the Specials menu, and they were all delicious. AND the dessert was so decadent - we had the bread pudding. Would definitely go back, and would DEFINITELY recommend.

A friend of mine and I met up for a drink. When I arrived I parked in their lot across the street. I walked in and found my friend. I started with the red sangria and it was tasty. Violet was our bartender and she was awesome. She showed us the area for private parties. It is a really nice place. For a small meal my friend got the garlic shrimp and it was really good. We definitely enjoyed our time.

I would definitely recommend Tequila Bistro. The service, the food and drinks were great! The surf and turf was flavorful. The turf was tender and juicy and the surf was savory. The drinks were nice, a bit on the sweet side but over all well made.

I have to leave this review because this was one of my top restaurant experiences. I want to make sure I talk about this place so that it stays open but another part of me wants it to stay so low-key and elegant. I just want to keep it to myself lol this is a small restaurant that one could easily look past in Elizabeth. When you walk in, you're immediately greeted with kindness. I'm not sure when the busiest days are but a couple of friends and I went on a Monday night and we had the entire place to ourselves besides the couple that were sitting at the bar. From the dining experience to the food quality, everything was 5-star. I don't think we lifted a finger for the usual things one may have to do at any other restaurant. The menu might surprise you like it did us because it's a bit on the expensive side, but after eating we had no regrets! There was literally not one thing we did not like. NOT ONE. The table was served a Latin take on bruschetta which I could not get enough of. The perfect amount of salt, fresh garlic, tomato and cilantro (ahh my mouth is watering as I type this). We followed that up with red sangria and crab cakes. The crab cakes were packed with red and green peppers which was unique compared to the typical crab cakes. The sangria was also nice and strong! Each meal also came with either a salad or soup, both again, delicious. The soup was a Spanish style white bean and kale --DELICIOUS and the salad was your basic salad, nice and fresh. Now for the main course, I had pork medallions with shrimp, yucca, and grilled peppers; stewed in a brown sauce. The table also had the braised need ribs and the steak, both served with mashed potatoes and veggies. Oh my gosh, I just wish you all could see how I'm licking my lips reliving it. The food was one of a kind. Not overly salted, seasoned perfectly to highlight the meats and sides, and a healthy but not overpowering portion. All of the meats were juicy and/or falling off the bone. I can't remember the last time I went to a restaurant where the food was absolutely perfect. Wow. To top it off, the bartender gave us complimentary tequila shots. I promise, I'm not being dramatic, the BEST tequila shots I have ever had. We were in shock that it was actually tequila!!! Will I be back here? What do you think? OF COURSE. I honestly hope to become a regular with my own little table in the back. This restaurant is a hidden gem in Elizabeth and I am so in love with it!

Every meal comes with soup or salad and some bread with tomatillo seasoned. Absolutely amazing !!! Then I had enchiladas and my bf had surf and turn , amazing dish everyone would love surf or turf. His cousin had bistec romano with yellow rice. The beans are so tasty I can eat it alone. Drink and VERY strong if you are a drinker will so go again. Fancy place you can casual or dress up !!

I wouldn't order takeout from here. I was charged 35.13 for this sirloin salad. 14.95 on the menu. Breakdown in communication or deceit. Paid but will never order from here again.

The food is probably the closest you can get to actual Spanish tapas but what i love most about this place is that everythings got flavorrrrr For our table of 4 we got CROQUETAS with their house cured chorizo- very good POLLO FIORENTINA- chicken was so tender and packeddd with flavor! BARRIGUITA- plentiful serving for a tapa, we loved the potatoes it came with too CHICHARRON DE POLLO- flavorful chicken and easier to eat than you think TARTAR- delish but small Chipirones- sooo delicately breaded you can barely tell, was great COSTILLA A LA PLANCHA- plentiful for a tapa, we recommend cooking for longer since its traditionally a tough cut of beef SAUTED VEGETABLES- tastey and not mushy thankfully! MILLIONAIRE CAIPIRINHA for my drink. was soooo good, not too sweet and not quite as sour as a margarita, was perfect for me!

When I was there, they had a DJ playing, and it added energy without being too loud or overwhelming. The Service was very good, the waiter answered and helped with all our questions. The food was absolutely amazing really flavorful and well done. Just be a little prepared that most dishes come in smaller portions. But the quality definitely makes up for it. I ordered the paella, and it's easily enough for two or even three people and it was well worth it. Really delicious. The drinks were also definitely worth trying while you're there. The only thing I wasn't big on was the desserts they didn't quite live up to the rest of the meal. But overall, great atmosphere, excellent food, and a fun experience. I'd definitely come back.

(I've eaten at the Harrison location multiple times and have always enjoyed my experience there, but this Union location is noticeably larger while delivering the same great food and hospitality. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either location.) The moment you walk in, you're greeted by a colorful, lively atmosphere that immediately sets the tone. The centerpiece of the entryway is a rare 1920s classic blue automobile that commands attention and makes for a memorable first impression. The restaurant buzzes with energy, and despite how busy it can get, the service is friendly, attentive, and incredibly efficient. We started with several appetizers, and every one of them was a hit! The Canoas de Plátano featured sweet plantains stuffed with flavorful Creole ground beef and topped with perfectly caramelized cheese, creating an excellent balance of sweet and savory. The Tostones Montaditos were equally impressive. I tried both the skirt steak and smoked salmon versions, each served on crispy plantains with cilantro crema and fresh cilantro. Both were outstanding, but each offered its own unique flavor profile. The Queso Frito con Salsa de Guayaba was another standout, with the salty, crispy fried cheese pairing beautifully with the sweet guava sauce. For my entrée, I ordered the Ropa Vieja, a classic Cuban dish featuring tender shredded beef simmered in a rich Cuban Creole sauce. The beef was incredibly flavorful and comforting, exactly what you'd hope for from a traditional preparation. Alongside it, I enjoyed maduros, which were perfectly sweet and caramelized, as well as white rice and black beans that tied the entire meal together. From the vibrant atmosphere and impressive décor to the excellent food and top-notch service, Mambo's continues to prove why it's one of my favorite Cuban restaurants in New Jersey. If you're wondering if I'll be back? Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!
