    Tofu wrap with Spicy Eggplant
    Autumn R.

I love this place! I have had their shrimp, steak, and tofu and have enjoyed all of them! Their wraps are ginormous and I usually take half home. The spicy eggplant is incredible. It becomes so soft that it nearly melts in your mouth. It's a very casual spot with friendly laid-back service.

Tried Lona's Lil Eats for the first time...amazing!!! We went on a Friday afternoon, there was alone when we got there but they move the line very quickly! You order at the counter then go find a seat to wait for your food...it comes out super fast and the taste is fantastic!!! We had the spring rolls and a stir fry w/noodles...so good! And if you want beer or cider, you are in luck!!! We will be going back this week!!!

We've been back here since this review, but wow! Blown away by Lonas Little eats, I can definitely see why it is so busy. Atmosphere was popping!! Nestled in a little neighborhood, Lona Little Eats offers fresh asian-american food that I was made aware of through social media reviews and raves. I was particualrly interested in the giant spring roll like wraps that they had with rice paper, 10 out of 10 excellent I want all of them. The spring rolls are also to die for, I could eat them every day. We ordered take out yesterday with the spicy peanut noodle salad, the Five star platter with all the proteins, and the Lona-Q sauce - WOW. Love love love this place, wish it was closer, not closed on Mondays and Tuesdays haha! So good, definitely go check it out.

They opened a couple minutes before advertised opening. Such a quaint place. The food is healthy & filling. Dine, takeout, or sit out on the patio.

I'm always impressed by Lonas. This time I got steak bowl with Lona Q sauce. The cabbage was excellent today and cooked so well. I was a little thrown off by the cold steak, i was expecting it to be warm but it still tasted good! My all time favorite thing is their pineapple cookies. I want that recipe!

I've been to Lona's before, I love the wraps and plates. Today I tried the beef soup and chicken spring rolls. The order taker was kind and attentive. Restaurant was clean and love the eclectic environment with all the pictures and awards posted. Will most definitely be back and I highly recommend.

#7 Spicy Tofu Wrap Stir-Fried Rice (Vegan) Veggie spring rolls with peanut sauce

I got the spicy tofu wrap with a side of vegan fried rice and the veggie spring rolls! I really liked that they had quality vegetarian and vegan options and all of the food was really flavorful! I think the standout for me was the peanut sauce that came with the veggie spring rolls! The restaurant had a good atmosphere and the staff were friendly when I went to pick up my food!

Had no idea what I was craving on a saturday evening. Enter Lona's lil eats--my Savior. I was feeling something that would be both sweet and spicy, this delivered big time. This quaint little eatery is serving up some insane bites for all who enter. Perfect for a casual date night, take out. The mushroom dumplings were amazing. Packed with umami, and then boom! More umami! So delicious. The spicy sauce was great as well. The brisket wrap in the rice paper was so good. A bit smoky, good crunch from the greens. What tied everything together was that vinaigrette. A bit acidic, a bit spicy, and the perfect companion to the fatty brisket. I loved the rice paper wraps. Super light, but a great texture. Cannot wait to get back, i have heard rumors their peanut sauce is to die for. Well, i am willing to die for it!

I totally see what the hype is all about! The giant rice paper wraps are amazing, especially for people who might be on a gluten free diet or a low carb diet. It's not exactly the most fanciest of places, but they have plenty of seating inside and outside, and the countertop service is really quick and easy. They don't accept cash, so make sure you come prepared. The neighborhood doesn't seem that nice, but be vigilant, especially in the dark, and you'll be fine. There's plenty of free street parking, which is a plus!

I'm a sucker for some spring rolls. This is a spring roll lovers heaven! We got two order of the (3) spring rolls - chicken and steak. Both super yummy and bite size. Perfect appetizer. I wish I got one of the wraps. They are HUGE and look sooooo good. Next time! My daughter got the kids meal with chicken and stir fry glass noodles. They did have a kick to them. I would say it's spicy for a kids dish. But if your kid likes spice I'm sure they would love it! I ended up eating her noodles and they were DELICIOUS. I got her a side of rice because it was a 50/50 whether she would eat the noodles haha. She loved the rice and chicken. The shop was busy. We went around 1:30pm. Good line and pretty good wait. The kitchen as backed up. I wish they were on door dash for quick pick up. They do offer online ordering through their own sight tho if that is something you want. Service was good and everyone was friendly. The staff were constantly bringing out dishes and busing tables. For as busy as they are, they are quick with service. 10/10 I will be back and I will be getting one of those big wraps! I also saw they have hot tea by the pot! If we weren't getting it to go, I would of got one

#5 Big Thai Chicken Wrap & Spicy Cucumber Salad
    Maggie H.

Lona's is amazing! The wraps are huge & straight up delicious. I had the big Thai and it had so much flavor all in one wrap - absolutely incredible! I think it would be easier to eat without the greens but they're a great addition to the overall taste. I enjoyed the spicy cucumber salad as my side but the person I was with had glass noodles and those were out of this world. The entire restaurant is so cozy and everyone there seemed so genuinely kind! I cannot wait to go back!

This is the kinda place I could eat EVERYDAY . The kale mushroom dumplings were so delicious. Service was wonderful. They have several rooms to dine in or dine outdoors . A rather vibey hipster type eatery. Loved everything .

I knew they don't take reservations and won't seat an incomplete party, but I still got there a little early just to see if we could grab a table for five. I was surprised (in a good way) when they seated me before everyone else arrived. I even told the hostess I didn't mind waiting, but she encouraged me to go ahead and sit, which was really nice. Our server was super friendly and made sure I was taken care of while I waited. As my friends started arriving, he was quick to get them settled in too. We started with some non-alcoholic drinks and spent some time chatting before diving into the menu. It was honestly hard to pick just one thing, so I went with both the chicken pho and fried rice. I knew I wouldn't finish it all, but I really wanted both. Once we ordered, everything moved smoothly--our server checked in, made sure drinks were filled, and kept things organized. When the food came out, everything looked amazing and tasted just as good. Of course, with all the catching up we were doing, it took us a while to finish, but there was no rush at all. When we were ready, he brought the checks and was more than happy to split them out (always appreciate that!). Before leaving, I ordered a to-go meal for my husband and asked for a box for my leftovers. Our server actually took my plate and packed everything up in the back, which I wasn't expecting but really appreciated. He also brought out the to-go order right when it was ready. Honestly, everything, from the space to the service to the food, was just great. I'm already looking forward to going back again soon.

Starters for us were a bowl of wonton soup and the spring rolls. Both were good but rolls a little rubbery to me. The highlight of our meals was charbroiled pork. We are not capable of ordering anything else. Ha. I get 15.04 and he got 15.03 which includes an egg roll. Divine food!! The people who own this place are so friendly. Our waiter was also very nice. Ambiance: Very nice, dark, cozy -- date night vibes…read more Service: Great! Polite, smiles, answered all our questions. We started with the Isaan hamachi. It was okay, but compared to Sado's version it just didn't hold up. The biggest issue was the aroma--it had a sour, almost "rotten milk" smell. I'm not sure if that was from the coconut milk reacting with the acidity of the dish and was intentional, but it really affected the overall experience. The flavor itself was decent, but smell plays such a big role in taste. Next was a white fish sashimi (I can't remember the name) served over a thin orange slice and topped with jalapeño. The flavor combination was really nice and refreshing, but the slices of fish were paper thin. At around $20, I expected a more substantial portion. The gyoza was solid. Nothing groundbreaking, but well-executed with great flavor, a beautiful crispy lace, and honestly one of the best-smelling dishes we ordered. The palm sugar ribs came highly recommended, so I was excited for them. Texture-wise they were excellent--crispy outside, juicy inside--but the sauce had an overpowering aroma that reminded both of us of wet dog. My guess is the fish sauce was a little heavy-handed. I've had plenty of dishes with fish sauce before and love the depth it adds, so I don't know if this was intentional or just an off night. The flavor itself was good, but the smell made it difficult to fully enjoy. (It was pungent in the worst way) The standout of the night was the Japanese eggplant. Absolutely incredible. Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and the chili crisp brought everything together. Easily a 10/10. For dessert, we had the mango custard coconut cake, which was also delicious. Favorite cocktail: the Re-Animator. Refreshing, citrus-forward, with just enough wasabi to give it a subtle kick. I've never had anything quite like it and would absolutely order it again. Overall, it wasn't the strongest first impression. There were definitely some highlights--the eggplant, dessert, and cocktail were all excellent--but if I'm spending this much on dinner, I'd probably choose Sado, where every visit has been consistently outstanding. That said, I'd still come back for that eggplant alone. This reads more like an honest dining journal than a takedown. It gives credit where it's due, clearly explains why certain dishes didn't work for you, and ends on a fair note rather than a harsh one.

They had 2 wait staff working when we went and both greeted us immediately and seated us inside. Their air conditioning was broken and awaiting repair and they had signs throughout explaining that. It was still cooler inside than out so we sat inside. I was curious what a butterfly lemonade was so I ordered one. It was good and quite refreshing with traditional lemonade at the bottom topped with a vibrant deep purple concoction on top. After I educated myself, I found that the deep purple concoction is steeped tea made from butterfly pea flowers. We started with some egg rolls - fried with ground pork and vegetables and served with sweet and sour sauce. The sauce was great! I normally pass as most of them have a cloyingly sweet flavor that I don't like but theirs had a really good balance of flavors amd not too sweet. The egg rolls were flavorful enough to stand on their own though and yes, delivered piping hot to the table. I had the drunken noodles with beef at medium spicy level. At first bite, I was immediately able to taste the spicy level I chose. A great sign. Then I sniffed and started sweating. Another great sign of good spice level. My husband ordered the yellow curry with tofu and medium spice level as well. Parking was easily accessible on adjacent lots or on the street. The inside of the restaurant is modern and clean. It is an open concept, so you can see a portion of the kitchen from the seats. My party of 5 was seated immediately by a hostess who gave me the vibe that she neither loved or hated her job...she was just sort of there. It took 18 minutes for a server to show up at our table...By this time, I could have recited their menu! The party of 6 beside us finished their food, got their to go boxes, paid their tab, & chit chatted before we were even acknowledged. We were not the only ones who noticed that our party was being ignored/ overlooked because a lady in the party next to us (the party who had already paid) leaned over to me and said, I promise the food is worth the wait. Hence we stayed... When the waiter brought our water, we went on and ordered our appetizers. We asked if he would go on and take our entree orders. My son ordered pad Thai, one daughter drunken noodles, the other daughter fried rice, my husband and I fried rice and drunken noodles... The waiter then told us, we don't have drunken noodles, the noodles did not come in on the delivery order (I get it, not your fault), but we were confused because nothing was said about those dishes not being available when we sat down as well as when my daughter ordered drunken noodles (which come to find out he had written that part of the order down wrong)... My husband asked if they could just substitute a different type of noodles from one of the other noodle dishes into the drunken noodles, and the waiter said that the noodles in the drunken noodles were large and flat. My husband reiterated to the server that we knew that and asked the question again. The server gave the same response. I am not sure if his intent was to be condescending or if his comprehension was that poor, but with service like that, I have little faith in the quality of the food... By this time, things were beyond frustrating, so we got up and left. We ended up at Sen Thai and had a great meal. Guess we will have to continue to do some Yelp research on other quality Thai restaurants in STL...Chao Baan will remain a mystery for us!
