Located in the Grove and so yummy ! We went for the hottest level of green curry with soft tofu but it ended up not being spicy enough for us . However it was packed with flavor and came with great service . . The portions here aren't out of control which I love and everything is very shareable . We were seated right away and had zero issues with orders . Very vegan friendly and modifiable menu . Indoor and outdoor seating available. Would absolutely return .
What a mouth watering adventure! I was visiting STL and had a local friend pick our restaurant. She knows I love Asian cuisine, like her, so she chose this authentic Thai spot. Issa, our server, was very knowledgeable with his recommendations. Everything we ordered was fantastic! The only thing I didn't really care for were the tiny dried shrimp in the papaya salad (just a personal preference). We had 3 appetizers: rolls, crab Rangoon and papaya salad. There were 4 of us and we ordered 5 entrees: 2 curries, pad Thai, and spicy thai basil fried rice. I wish I was able to eat more, as I was leaving the next morning and didn't have an opportunity to eat the many leftovers we had. I'll be back! I would suggest going early, (5:30ish) as Issa was the only server and the place was slammed by the time we left, 7:00ish
Very delicious Thai spot with fab crab Rangoon. You can have your food more mild or spicy. Table service was a bit slow, but the kitchen seemed quick enough. I got a coconut water and it was phenomenal - I'm looking forward to ordering it again at a future visit!
One of my favorite STL Thai restaurants! I've been here a few times with two people and also with larger groups. And they've been good at accommodating both group sizes. I believe you can call in advance for reservations so that definitely is helpful. There is street parking outside and a lot across the street which is great! My go to is always the pad Thai with shrimp or tofu. I appreciate having options as someone who does not eat Meat so that is great! I will definitely be back. The service is always fast and friendly and I love that!
Sat outside with our dogs for a delicious, fresh, quick meal! As a vegetarian, highly recommend the flavorful tofu laap. We also ordered the Beef Nam Tok and loved it as well. Will be back!
Large serving size with great flavors. Wasn't a big fan of the consistency of Thai Curry, however flavor did not lack. Staff were attentive to our need. Located in the Groove. Limited street parking directly in front available. I will return.
My favorite Thai in The Grove! Always have to start my meal with the crab rangoon. The Pad Kee Mao with Chicken is delicious and will keep me coming back! Staff is nice and helpful.
St. Louis is so lucky to have as many wonderful Thai places as we do! This one is right up there with the very best. I love the design of the interior with the open kitchen. The pad thai never disappoints and my other go-to is the khao soi. Don't pass up the spring rolls and potstickers if you're looking to get an app. Highly recommend checking out their Happy Hour from 4-6!
I got the Khao Soi and it was not bad! My friends said the pad thai and the grilled eggplants were a bit bland though. However, the service and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very very nice and attentive!
I could have sworn I had already had a review for some of the best thai in stl. Alas, here we are. Overall, a can't miss spot. Everything I have had from here is great. People love to get carryout from here so it's the perfect spot for a date night because it is so quiet and relaxed. The workers are great. Efficient, attentive, and happy to serve! A few highlights for me on the menu: crab rangoons(their sweet chili sauce is outta this world) the pad kee mao is amazing. Super savory with a hint of sweetness. A good kick to it. Acidic, and the noodles are superb. A staple in the grove and a staple in stl. Great food, great people, chic vibes
One of our favorite spots. I can tell it is a popular take out spot, but the inside is beautiful and worth dining there if given the chance. The food is delicious and the portions are pretty sizable. Our waiter was so nice and caring to our needs. Cocktails were strong as well. Certainly a must try if in the Grove.
A friend and I came for a special Tasting Menu for 2. Thought it'd be a good way to try different things, and it WAS! The cocktails we ordered were both different and DELECTABLE! ALL of the food was also different than I've had at other Thai restaurants and very, VERY good! I commend them on offering the Tasting Menu and wish more places would do the same. The service was good and the ambiance was quiet and comfortable.
The place is beautiful, I really enjoyed the look and set up of the space. The hand crafted cocktails were yummy, and hard to chose from. My friend and I wanted to try this nice Thai place. He got the tofu Thai rice and I got Pad Kee Maw. We shared some crab ragoons. The service was okay, but only because they were down people that day. But the workers were working their butts off so I commend them for that. So I think their service typically would be great! My dish was good, I personally don't like the red wine added to it. Traditionally that is not typical and I am use to it being spicy. But I devoured it. My friend said the tofu was great and his dish was perfect. Our drinks were good. Over all we enjoyed this experience. I do think that they need to have fresh desserts and or frozen to order desserts. I would have gotten the mango sweets sticky rice as it's one of my favorites. So there is room for improvement!

Been twice and loved everything both times! Plates were CLEAN when we were done because it was really good. Our waitress was the same person both times and she was very helpful and kind. Place is really spacious and clean. They have a nice and unique drink menu and we will definitely be back to try more of them! read more
Love this restaurant, was a bit confused about the parking situation, I think I went to the wrong lot and it said parking was $10 for 9 hours. Anyway I met friends here on a sunday night, it was not super busy, I had a mocktail, which I love to see on the menu. It was tasty and I even got a $1 off as it was happy hour. Loved that they have a vegetarian menu. My food was really good, and my friends enjoyed theirs too. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly. Definitely adding this one to the rotation! read more

A girls night out dinner on a Saturday, I was surprised this spot wasn't more busy! The place has plenty of space for large or small groups and there is outside seating for days with better weather. The three of us were sat in a booth and service was prompt. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and provided his recommendations of the Khao Soi and the Kua Kling, both we ordered. When our third guest was thinking of ordering the Four Kings of Thailand dish, he was able to direct her that the portion size would be generous, which is was in comparison to our other two dishes. Of the three, the Khao Soi was probably my favorite with a rich, spiced coconut broth and a delightful blend of textures from the chicken, noodles, and garnish. The Kua Kling was a close second with delicious notes of lemongrass in the paste. That dish was certainly the smallest portion of the three. Overall, will be back. The bang for your buck here is excellent and staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. read more

It's a large , high ceiling dining area. Seems to help with keeping the noise/ conversation levels tolerable. Like that, when so many restaurants are noisy to a shouting level. Gracious service, polite, unhurried. Like that! We ordered the tasting menu. Price was reasonable and more than enough for two to share. Appetizer, entrees. Drinks not included but alcoholic compliments suggested. Parking might be confusing as the parking lot has is the address given on google maps is not the street address for the restaurant. Easy to figure out but advised. Pleasant place with happy hour choices for beverages and food. read more

I love Thai food. As soon as I heard about this Thai place I wanted to try it. The location is great. I love the atmosphere and modern simplicity of the restaurant. The service was good, no complaints. I ordered the Khao Soi. I've had this dish at another restaurant and loved it so I wanted to try it here. It was just as delicious. I think I prefer it at Chao Baan because it was not as spicy here. I got to choose my heat level, and medium was just right. I could also choose how I wanted the tofu cooked, I chose soft. I also ordered a glass of the Bernard Griffin riesling. Not my favorite riesling but it was good. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are just right. My friend ordered the Panang Curry and she also loved it! I definitely recommend Chao Baan for all the Thai food lovers. I will definitely return! read more

Excellent customer service and excellent food. The prices, portions and flavor were all where they needed to be. The server put in extra time and attention to make sure dietary restrictions and allergies were accommodated. The bar was able to make mixed drinks, which was unfortunate, but we were still granted happy hour pricing on our apps. read more
I got the Thai Red Curry with chicken and my friend got the spicy stir fried noodles, and it was all really good! The Thai Red Curry had a GREAT coconutty yet spiced flavor to it, the heat was intense, and it was super rich and creamy. It was also chock full of veggies and chicken. The stir fried noodles were soft and caramelized, with a nice little hit of flavor. Good if you're craving less of an intense taste. Very pleasantly surprised with the food here and I will most definitely be coming back. read more
We had a really nice experience here. The atmosphere is really nice. I loved the look of the place, especially the bar. We also had prompt and kind service. Most importantly, the food and Mocktail I had was delicious. I appreciate the server's knowledge of the gluten free menu items and thoroughly enjoyed being able to eat gluten free fried rice. I left feeling good, which is much appreciated. I will definitely bring back. I wish I had come here sooner! read more

I absolutely love Chao Baan! If you're craving Thai, this restaurant is a must-try. I've eaten in the restaurant for dine-in and ordered for carry-out multiple times now. I will say that it sometimes seems like you get a larger portion of food if you dine-in. Regardless, the food is consistently fresh and delicious. I always order Pad See Ew, and I especially love the noodles. In my most recent dine-in experience, our food came out to the table so quickly. Very speedy service! Our server was unbelievably friendly and authentically enthusiastic. I could tell that he genuinely enjoys his work. Unfortunately I didn't catch his name, but I can't say enough great things about the quality service he provided. The restaurant is always very clean, welcoming, and trendy. They have a couple large tables that seem like they would be great for bigger groups. No complaints from me about this place! read more
Not my most favorite Thai restaurant in St. Louis. The service was extremely slow. The restaurant was a little busy so maybe they were short staffed. We ordered crispy spring rolls to start with and didn't care too much for it. The inside was a little too mushy and the sauce was runny. Ordered 4 Kings of Thailand and Pad See Ew. Both had good flavor. My favorite was the coconut juice. We'll be back if we are in the neighborhood. read more
I'll start by saying that Chao Baan is one of my favorite restaurants in town to order Pad Thai. The dish is served with the option of either chicken or tofu or you can elect to order it with pork (+1) or beef or shrimp (+4). Spice levels can be adjusted per order, and range from mild, medium, to hot. Each time I've ordered this dish, it's consistently met my expectations for quality and price per serving. With that being said, I do not recommend this restaurant for the dining experience. I've been on three separate occasions and each time the dining area has felt in need of a deep clean and the service has been below average. I will continue to order take-out, but will not be dining in-person. read more

I visited Chao Baan during their happy hour and it was super delicious! Their menu is actually a great deal and you get a bang for your buck. We tried the potstickers and the fried chicken wings and both were SO good and portions were large. The space is very large and pretty. Tons of natural light which I love for a good happy hour. I would love to come back for dinner because the menu all sounded good. read more
Visiting St. Louis with family and was told this was one of the best Thai places around here. I love Thai food and can get a lot of great options in Chicago. My expectations are a bit high. The restaurant has plenty of space and is modern and sleek. It wasn't crowded, so we were seated quickly. We did family style with the dishes so everyone could try things. No alcoholic drinks, but we ordered hot tea. Our waitress was friendly but was a little slow and took awhile to bring everything we needed. We started with the cucumber salad, spring rolls and potstickers. My favorite was probably the cucumbers. They were a vinegar base and had crunch/flavor. Spring rolls were second- the dipping sauce was really good. The rolls were crispy but a bit mushy on the inside. The potstickers were my least favorite as the filling inside was just ok. For our main dishes we got Pad Thai with chicken (mild), Beef Nam Tok (mild), Spicy Kee Mao Noodles with chicken (medium) and Massaman Curry with beef (hot). My favorite dish was hands down Spicy Kee Mao Noodles with chicken. It had great flavor with a kick. The Massaman Curry was my next favorite. The dishes we got in mild to me were more bland, so I was a bit disappointed. The Pad Thai is very average, so I wouldn't get it again. The Beef Nam Tok was similar. I would go back, but stick to certain dishes they do well. I wish Yelp allowed half stars! Overall 3.5/5 read more
Chao Baan is a Thai restaurant located in the Grove. I have come here many times and usually order their Pad Thai for takeout. I wanted to try something new today and based on my experience, I think I will stick to the Pad Thai. I ordered their fried potstickers, Pad See Ew with tofu, and Thai Me Up cocktail. The server was very kind and gave me recommendations on the most popular dishes and drinks ordered. In addition, our food came out quickly. I ordered all of her recommendations in the spirit of trying something new. I gave this restaurant 4 stars based on all of my previous very positive experiences but was slightly disappointed this time due to the food and cocktail that I ordered this time. The for the Pad See Ew tofu was fried very dark and the sauce was very salty. The fried potstickers tasted pre-prepared and warmed up to serve. The Thai Me Up Cocktail tasted fresh but not to my personal taste. I will continue to come back but will stick to my usual order of tofu or pork Pad Thai and Gai Tod (marinated wings). read more
The place was pretty empty when we came in so the service was fast and the food came out quickly. It was a cute restaurant with lots of natural lighting so eating there felt refreshing and vibrant. We ordered Khao Soi, first time trying this dish. The coconut-infused broth, especially with the chicken, is flavorful and well-balanced. The interplay of crispy and soft noodles adds a nice texture, making each bite satisfying. The pickled mustard greens and shallots bring in a tangy kick that complements the richness of the broth, and a squeeze of lime ties it all together. We also ordered the Pad Thai, and that was a decent dish as well. We come from major food cities such as Houston and Chicago so Asian food over there is definitely overall better. However the Pad Thai here was seasoned and still held its own. Both were straightforward yet well-executed dishes that hit the spot, earning it a solid 4/5 in my book. read more

Our Thai food dreams have once again been fulfilled! We lost our favorite local Thai restaurant spot to it's relocation about a year ago (if you're local to the Tower Grove area you know). We ordered through DoorDash and got the basics to try it out that first time around. We were so incredibly happy to see quality prepared food and fresh flavors. My mouth is watering even now writing about it. I cant speak much for service and ambiance sense we haven't yet visited in person but we will be shortly I'm sure because I'm still craving the goodness. read more
