It was a mid-afternoon departure; I debated on how much to each; we filled up just enough, and had leftovers for later in the evening; a fantastic dining experience, in-restaurant and in the hotel once we arrived in NW Indiana. Tim was a great help, welcoming us, helping with the order and delivering our food. Have heard about this place since it opened and had to try it! This location is in a different area of Kirkwood, away from downtown, but near a bunch of neighborhoods. Great spot to walk to on a nice day! There's also a lot of parking beside and behind the building, so no excuses on having a tough time getting there. There are 2 doors in, 1 for pickup orders and 1 for dine in. The dine in door leads to you a line/maze that ends at the front counter (where you order) this gives you time to look over the paper menus, or the tv menus boards. I went with the paper ones since the boards were hard to see from that distance. (Old eyes I guess!) It was odd that the dine in door maze went past a cooler and soda station for pickup orders. Ordering was easy and the young lady was helpful in explaining what was spicy or not. We got the big Thai wrap and a seasonal noodle bowl. They also give you a number for your table and directed us up a ramp to the dining area. The ramp/floor isn't consistent in its slope, so pay attention when walking up there. The dining area is painted in bright colors, with funky light fixtures and chairs. Very bright and colorful. There was a musty smell in the area that we sat, which reminded us of an old basement. The food came out pretty quickly and looked great! We enjoyed both dishes and agreed that the spicy eggplant was our favorite flavor. The plan for next time is the seasonal noodle bowl with chicken, spicy sesame sauce and chopped spicy eggplant on top. If you have the opportunity, give this a try! read more

I stopped at Lona's Lil Eats to pick up dinner for the family, and apparently I was feeding an entire football team. 6 wraps, 6 different sides and 6 different desserts later, we were officially covered. I got the shrimp plate for myself, and it was exactly what I was looking for. #StLouisPescatarianApproved I love places where everyone can pick something different, and Lona's makes that very easy. I wanted to give this more stars but I walked in with high expectations and left a bit disappointed. First time I've been since I sampled their fare at a St. Louis foodie event. Didn't know what to order so I looked on Yelp and looked at other people's favorites and ordered from that. I chose the chicken with the with their most popular Wow sauce. As a filler I chose wrong with rice noodles. They kinda stuck together, should have ordered the veggies. Also got a side of spicy cucumbers. My son ordered the spicy Tofu and side of spicy eggplant. His was more tasty. Chicken white meat only as good as the sauce and rice noodles with sauce was not the best. Spicy cucumbers had a pretty big kick to them. I could not finish them. We've ordered from here before, and it was great. However, Uber eats and DoorDash now cancel any orders over a certain amount. I placed an order at 10 AM and then I got a call. They canceled it at 11 AM. So then I had to call the location and put the order in again. I gave them an hour notice and when I got to the location, it still was not ready for another 18 minutes then I had to drive back to work and walk-through to the hospital to get everyone's order so over 45 minutes later did everyone get their order. They need to have something online saying if it's over a certain amount that orders will be canceled. When I got to the hospital, there was items that had spilled because they were not properly sealed. There are items missing. So I called the business manager called me who just had a baby literally a newborn. I was trying to help me which was so sweet and I felt so bad. Kia, the manager brought up what was missing The business manager said he would get with me later because of all the issues It was a very large order and nothing had writing on it so it was hard to know what was what However, they did go above and beyond to fix it once they knew there were issues so I still give them five stars as well as they were super communicative read more

The patio is lovely during the evening! I ordered the Smoked Turkey Wrap (no cilantro) and the spicy eggplant. The Smoked Turkey Wrap was delicious! The greens were fresh, the rice was fluffy, and the turkey was tender. The smoked flavor was rich and robust. I also quite enjoyed the peanut sauce, it offered an additional nutty profile to the wrap. The only downside is that the rice paper wrap can easily fall apart. The spicy eggplant had a great flavor, but the texture was quite soft. It had a nice kick, and a subtle sweetness. The texture wasn't my favorite, so I don't think I'd order it again. read more

Nestled in a little neighborhood, Lona Little Eats offers fresh asian-american food that I was made aware of through social media reviews and raves. I was particualrly interested in the giant spring roll like wraps that they had with rice paper, 10 out of 10 excellent I want all of them. Recently tried Lona's as it's been recommended to me by multiple people, I would say I understand the hype. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, big portions and bold flavours (although it is a tiny bit too salty for me). There is still that balance of spicy, tangy, and sweetness and you can tell a lot of care goes into the sauces. The wraps are packed with fillings but is still light. The aubergines are also flavourful! The vibe is casual and a bit quirky, kind of feels like someone's home. Plenty of seating and there's also a patio. Had no idea what I was craving on a saturday evening. Enter Lona's lil eats--my Savior. I was feeling something that would be both sweet and spicy, this delivered big time. This quaint little eatery is serving up some insane bites for all who enter. Perfect for a casual date night, take out. The mushroom dumplings were amazing. Packed with umami, and then boom! More umami! So delicious. The spicy sauce was great as well. The brisket wrap in the rice paper was so good. A bit smoky, good crunch from the greens. What tied everything together was that vinaigrette. A bit acidic, a bit spicy, and the perfect companion to the fatty brisket. I loved the rice paper wraps. Super light, but a great texture. I totally see what the hype is all about! The giant rice paper wraps are amazing, especially for people who might be on a gluten free diet or a low carb diet. It's not exactly the most fanciest of places, but they have plenty of seating inside and outside, and the countertop service is really quick and easy. They don't accept cash, so make sure you come prepared. The neighborhood doesn't seem that nice, but be vigilant, especially in the dark, and you'll be fine. I'm a sucker for some spring rolls. This is a spring roll lovers heaven! We got two order of the (3) spring rolls - chicken and steak. Both super yummy and bite size. Perfect appetizer. I wish I got one of the wraps. They are HUGE and look sooooo good. Next time! My daughter got the kids meal with chicken and stir fry glass noodles. They did have a kick to them. I would say it's spicy for a kids dish. But if your kid likes spice I'm sure they would love it! I ended up eating her noodles and they were DELICIOUS. Lona's is amazing! The wraps are huge & straight up delicious. I had the big Thai and it had so much flavor all in one wrap - absolutely incredible! I think it would be easier to eat without the greens but they're a great addition to the overall taste. I enjoyed the spicy cucumber salad as my side but the person I was with had glass noodles and those were out of this world. After reading alllll the reviews I was excited to try this place. But, it just did not reach all my expectations based off the reviews I read. This place did have fresh food, I'll give it that. But, it definitely lacked in aspects that didn't make it amazing or something I'd really suggest unless someone I knew was vegetarian. The food itself was okay. The steak dumpling were probably my favorite but I wish there was more options for dipping sauce rather than just chili crisp oil. I ordered the big Thai wrap, and while it was good, I had to ask for extra sauce because the lettuce was just overwhelming, like there was just a giant wad of it thrown in there. The wrap itself is a rice paper so you really can't put it down when you eat it or it just falls apart. But, overall, with extra sauce, rearranging things a bit everything was generally good. A Go To Spot My wife and I love Lona's. It's been a go to for years. Amazing flavor combinations and food that leaves you feeling good ...like healthy lol. This place is always friendly and has a great dive feel. We love the patio especially on a beautiful evening! It's hard to make a bad move with the menu but I will advise that the spicy items build on each other and can really get you if you're not ready for it. I was at Lona's Saturday night meeting a friend for dinner before heading out. Not my first visit, so I came in ready to order. I started with the Chicken Spring Rolls, and they were fantastic, especially with the extra peanut sauce. I would buy that sauce by the growler if they sold it. For my main dish, I did a build-your-own plate with grilled chicken, rice, and yes, more peanut sauce. Have I mentioned how much I love that peanut sauce? Everything was fresh and full of flavor.
