We've been coming to Epic Pizza for years, and it's consistently a great experience. One of my favorite things is that you can order pizza by the slice, making it easy to grab a quick meal or try something new. I also love their Slice of the Day--it's always fun to see what creative flavor they're featuring. The wings are delicious, and most of the staff is friendly and welcoming. Another huge plus is the walk-up window, especially late at night when most other places are closed. It's one of the few spots you can count on for a quality meal after hours. The wait can sometimes be a little long when they're busy, but that's because everything is made fresh. In my opinion, the quality is well worth the wait. Epic is SO good and I will always suggest making a visit here if I'm in Soulard or near it. They serve it by the slice or by the entire pie. I went last night and got a slice of the pepperoni pizza with a side of their ranch (it's the best). I also got a side of toasted ravs. It's super affordable and a solid option to eat on the patio at itap. I requested to get it there, so they gave me a number and I went back over and took a seat. I was the designated driver for our party of five in Soulard this past weekend and, as every drunk group is destined to, they begged for pizza as we left our last bar. It was 1:20am and Epic was getting ready to close; we were some of their last customers. They are certainly popular at that time of night. We waited in line for 15 minutes or so to order and then waited another 10-15 to get our food. We were able to grab a seat at the picnic tables in front of Protagonist's Cafe to eat. This is a favorite of my fiancé's, drunk or not, but I can't say I feel the same way. Epic pizza serves NY style slices; they're meant to be enjoyed folded in half and they feature thin crusts to accomplish this. My biggest gripe was the quality of said crust. Mine came out soft and almost a bit soggy in the middle. This led to splitting when I went for the quintessential fold! As a native New Yorker, I can't get behind this. If they had still been open, I would have asked them to put my slice back in the oven. I also wasn't a fan of the quality of the sausage which gave me a bit of reflux. Lastly, $5.50 for a slice is steep. Even in NY you can typically get a better version of these slices for $5. read more

Review Visit: November 6th, 2016 Was it more EPIC than Epic Burger? Find out below. While at Shameless Grounds, I decided I wanted to get some food from a local place. Pulled up Yelp and see what was nearby. I settled on this place by name alone. Boy, was it a good choice! I had to park a bit away from the place, but it was nice and the walk was enjoyable. Upon entering, I glanced at the menu and did a double take on the prices. About everything on the menu was over $10, but you can order pizza by the slice. Those are about $3-4 a piece. A tad high for my tastes, but I figured why not... I don't drive to St. Louis every day. So I ordered a Chicken Parmesan Sandwich and the cashier was pretty cool. They give you a playing card instead of a number, which I have seen before and is always pretty cool. Food took a typical time to come out and it was pretty good. I got homemade chips with mine and those were good. The sandwich was... Epically good. Smaller than I expected at the price they changed, but it made up for it in flavor. If you are eating and fancy a drink, there is a bar next door called International Tap House (iTap for short). Epic offers food services to the bar, which is great because who doesn't get hungry while drinking? They also have a few seats outside that has a window to which they can serve you by. Next time, I want to sit there. You can see this spot in the photos below. So, yes, this place was way more EPIC than Epic Burger. I would say it was twice as delicious. This place I would revisit. Based on Yelp searches, Epic rates highest for pizza near the Soulard area. Tucked toward the end of the street, it offers limited seats inside and the tables are nice for groups. If you prefer patio seating you'll want to enjoy the International Tap House next store and order pizza to come next store, or walk over to buy by the slice. We ordered a full pizza for our family of 4 and garlic knots. This gave each of us 2 slices. The garlic knots came in a group of 6. Good but one order didn't add a lot to the meal for our group, and they came out after we'd eaten our pizza. Definitely good pizza that matches the positive reviews. Service was quiet and at times a bit dismissive, which was a stark contrast to the other local spots we visited in St Louis. Definitely have been wanting to try epic pizza and subs and they did not disappoint. Ended up doing takeout on a rainy night and it was a treat to myself. The wings had great flavor as they were smoked and fried and I loved the dressing that came with them. The wings were meaty and had a nice size as well. Chicken Parm sandwich was solid, but the fries were outstanding despite the trip home before I could eat them. The pizza I ordered was a half buffalo chicken and half chicken pesto in a New York style crust. Pizza was good but the ratio of chicken to meat and sauce was a little off. Actually almost had too much chicken- still had good flavor. I definitely would like to head back and try another type of pizza as well. It's drunk pizza, nothing more nothing less. Sauce is nothing special, neither are toppings. Could have used a few more mins in the oven. If you are on Soulard at 1:30am it will do the job, otherwise there are many many better pies in this city. Also, Heads up, 3 individual slices is almost the same as a large pie that is 8 slices. First, what is this adding about 30% of gratuity on bill over $100? No lie that's what the girl working the register said, after asking her to divide the order to avoid such outrageous charge, she did but wasn't happy and after that it all went downhill. (Our party did tip, just not $30 dollars) Wings took close to an hour to get to table in two different orders. When she delivered she slammed on table on a very rude way ( this kind of service is not what makes us come back) after the second order of wings and fries took close to an hour the same, when asked at the counter what was going on she said "well, I walked by your table with the food but you guys didn't called me over so I took them back" so what are the numbers for?!? This is not something that happens here and we will be back, hopefully she changes her attitude and also her hair color, purple is not a good look specially with such horrible attitude! Nice place, service was helpful and friendly and food was great! You can order pizza by the slice or whole. You can pick up at the outside window and they have curbside option also. We ordered 16" BBQ chicken pizza dunes out bacon and a Whole Order of tasty seasoned fires! All was hot and Delish. So my hunger level had reached the "Cavewoman" status and when I pulled up there was one person already at the window but leaving and I could see the curbside employee was assisting another car, so I jumped out the car and rushed over to the pick up window to retrieve the order. While there they had a counter sign advising they had Togo Pizza kits! I wish they would have advised over the phone because I would have picked one! Great idea!! I love the pizza from Epic pizza. It is a request I give my husband often even though it's not nearby- it's about 25 min away. We were having a NY themed birthday party for my daughter so any style pizza was an absolute must. She loves a white pizza with ricotta so Epic was the perfect choice. I priced out the 12 pizzas we were ordering while planning for the party and budget. Rather than ordering online, my husband called. I had previously emailed to see if they offer any discounts for a larger order- no reply. So when he called, he asked. He was told 11-12 pizzas was nothing to them and unless we were ordering 30-40 pizzas there wasn't anything. Ok, I get it but the way the response was given was somewhat rude. We placed the order for the following day and the total given was about 50.00 more than the online price. My husband was confused so I checked online again and the online total was about 265, the total he was given was 311. My husband called back to inquire and said we would just order online due to the pricing difference and were told they included a 20% gratuity. My husband said he didn't want to pay that automatically. He was told oh, well if you don't want to leave a tip at all then the total is 265. My husbands response was he wasn't opposed to tipping but an automatic 20% tip on a take out order that we were picking up didn't seem appropriate and he would fill in a tip if he wanted to at pick up. I'm sorry but tipping on a pick up order is optional and to automatically add it to a total without telling or asking the customer seems shady. I don't know if I will order here again after this experience and clearly our order doesn't matter, but customer service can make or break a business and this was not a good look for Epic pizza in my opinion. read more

First time trying this place. I placed an order for Garlic Parmesan Fries, Wood Fired Buffalo Wings and Hot Hawaiian Pizza for pick up. The fries were nice and crispy and fried to a gold brown with a very small hint of Garlic Parmesan on them. They were very tasty but I wish they had a little more Parmesan to give it a better Garlic Parmesan taste. The wood fired Buffalo wings were outstanding. They had a nice wood fired charred taste to them with a light crisp on the outside. Overall they were delicious. The Hot Hawaiian Pizza was ok. The crust was soft not crispy but the amount of toppings was just right. The light amount of pizza sauce was just spot on. Compared to other places were they put too much pizza sauce on the pizza. My only complaint here was that if they left the pizza a little longer on the oven it would had given It a crispier crust. When you have some booze in your belly and need something to fill you up, thank goodness iTap is connected Epic Pizza. Epic offers a wide variety of slices and pies for people to select from. Personally when I am enjoying some adult beverages, I enjoy pepperoni pizza. Getting sustenance from Epic Pizza while at iTap is so easy. Head to the back corridor to get into Epic. The setup is smart. The cool part about this beer-pizza joint marriage is that when you order from Epic, you let them know that you're chilling inside iTap and when they give you a table/order number, they know that they're "delivering" to the bar next door. Ok let's talk about the actual pizza, not just the experience. The pizza wants to be New York style pizza. It definitely comes close. The sauce is not flavorful. I wish you bit in and were like WOW this is the most incredible pizza in St Louis. It's close, but like it just needs to be doctored up. You need to add salt, parm, and some red pepper flakes. It's a fine base, but just needs some help to get past the finish line. If epic worked on the sauce, it probably wouldn't need as much additives to become palatable. But when you're pounding beers from iTap. Epic is so good. Very little effort goes in to getting fresh hot pie. read more

Out in Chesterfield over a month ago, running errands. No great ideas for lunch! Soooo, just pulled in to Epic! Not impressed with the outside. The trash was over flowing onto the ground tables needed to b bussed! But not one to be put off by first impressions we soldered on. It was 2:30 ish, so the lunch crowd had come and gone. The staff was relaxing. Now what to order pizza there isn't inexpensive! And because was late in the day we each decided on a calzone, you can decide which ever fillings you like, you order at the counter and fill your cup if your having non-alcohol, and have a seat.
