My go to bar in Soulard! Always a fun and energetic atmosphere with darts and a couple other games for entertainment. They also have tons of TV's for any game day. The food is consistent with more options than just your typical bar food. I haven't met one bartender here that gave me bad service either! I may be extremely biased because I lived 2 minutes away for 6 years but Ds Place is my favorite soulard bar. It's one of those places that feels so familiar and you can chat with anyone at the bar. I've had countless nights of great hands at Ds, it may even be my dogs favorite bar. They have a large back patio with high top tables and round tables so seating is pretty easy. I always brought my dog later at night and played in the side yard so he was included in our night out. The drinks are cheap and the food is good! A bartender, named Jessica, was the most rude and unprofessional human I have ever met. she was mean and incredibly unprofessional. Cool neighborhood bar/restaurant with great service, large portions and really good food.

I was at a volleyball tournament all day and was starving when I passed D's Place. I decided to pop in and grab something to eat. The bartender was super friendly and greeted me with a water and menu right away. I couldn't decide what to eat and I was very hungry so I got a few things. 1. The blackened chicken wings were so good and crispy! Get a side of their buffalo sauce to dip them in. 2. The burger was seasoned to perfection! They definitely didn't skimp on the cheese either. 3. Their nachos were piled high with all of the toppings. I got them on tots and the tots were also so crispy and delicious. They also have rotating cheesecake flavors but I was way too full for desert. Next time! I will definitely be back to try their pizza! Both the food and service really blew me away. I am glad I stopped and took a chance!! 12/10 recommend this place! read more

We came here before the ownership change/update as well as since then. We liked it both before and after. They say there was a comprehensive remodel, but if that's the case, I can't find it. Regardless, the inside is your typical bar, but it's clean and in good shape. The prices seem slightly higher since they re-opened, but still very reasonable. The drinks are strong. They menu has been downsized, but everything is really good. Get. The. Onion. Rings. Omg, they are so freaking good. We also like their wraps and the chicken club. The new back patio is really nice. It's a little sunny in the late afternoon, but they may have added umbrellas now that it's patio season. The service is good, the bartenders are very personable. D's Place is on our regular rotation of casual places to grab a bite and a drink in Soulard. It's worth stopping by if you've never been. read more

I love the food here. I had sweet chili wings and fries, and for good measure, the owner tossed in a tasty dessert wonton filled with Nutella, banana, powdered sugar, and drizzled chocolate. The bar/restaurant is a lively place with dart boards, an electronic golf, and a bowling game. The waitress knew the orders of all the regulars, and even though I'm a newbie to the establishment, she remembered my drink from the last time I visited. I found out about D's Place when it was featured as the ROTD here on Yelp. When I arrived, I could tell from the outside it was a dive. Then when I entered, I smiled even more. I was a true dive bar. Or as Eric N. said, in his ROTD, it is as close to "your neighborhood watering hole" as it can get. The proof was as I sat at the bar enjoying my lunch, all the other patrons greeted each other by name. That's a true neighborhood bar. My biggest dilemma was should I order wings or a burger. After getting recommendation from the bartender, I choose to go wings. Especially after I found out, I could choose two different flavors in one order. I went with my favorite, Lemon & Pepper and a bar favorite, Garlic Parmesan. When ordering wings, I am a stickler for my order having the same amount of flats and drums. D's impressed me, they not only gave me the same amount of flats and drums in my order, they also made sure each flavor had the same amount. My wing pieces were good in size and fried to a crispy crunch. Being a true fan of Lemon & Pepper, it was my favorite. I love the tang of lemon and kick of pepper. I can see why their Garlic & Parmesan is a bar favorite. However, I would not recommend them on a date night. I say that with a smile, because they're garlic flavor as good as it was, it was strong. I guess if you share the order, with your date all would be good. (smile) I was not impressed with the fries that I had as a side with my wings. I'm super picky about my fries and don't care for the type that are seasonally coated. I heard their onion rings are good, so when I come back to experience the, Hell Fire Burger that has fried jalapeños on it (another favorite of mine) I'll order onion rings as my side. Service was dive bar friendly. The bartender called all the other guest by their name. Not knowing mine, she just called me, "Babe" when she checked on me frequently. In warmer months, I often walked my dog, Clyde, past D's Place in Soulard in the early evenings. Everytime we would pass, the aroma emanating from inside was far superior to what this neighborhood watering hole looks like on the outside. I guess like they say, never judge a book by its cover! We are trying our best to support the local bars and restaurants in our new neighborhood as the lucrative summer months wane. Picking up a to go meal is such an easy way to help businesses in the area survive. Since we didn't have plans for dinner, I suggested trying D's. I'm giving D's a four star rating because of customer service. When I called in to place my order, the employee was very grumpy and not helpful. I simply asked how many slices were in a 10-inch pizza. (We were having a friend over for dinner as well, so I wanted to make sure we had plenty.) Because this was my first ever time trying D's food, I had no context of size or slice count. The person on the other side of the telephone threw me a little attitude saying "it's square cut. I don't know how many pieces it makes." Well then. Just the info about it being square cut slices was enough to give me an idea of how much I needed to offer. I would give D's a three because of the worker's curtness with me, but actually in these type of situations, it makes the Soulard bar feel more authentic. So hey. Great work creating a real dive bar vibe! (But maybe be a little nicer.) The menu is pretty on par for what you'd expect for a local bar. Standard items like salads, wings, and sandwiches. I did appreciate the interesting specialty pizzas. When you have thin crust pizza, you might as well dress it up with something exotic! We took the gamble on the Spicy Special, described as Hot sauce, bacon, hamburger & cheddar jack cheese. I impulse bought the Cheesesteak pizza because it just sounded interesting with Pizza sauce topped with sautéed roast beef, onion, green pepper and pizza cheese. Both pizzas had a lot of flavor. The crust was crunchy with an every so slight doughy texture. And they were even better cold the next day. I would consider going back soon just to put a pie in the fridge overnight for breakfast! read more

Loved this place was a regular until about a week ago! One of the bartenders was very rude to me for asking her to change the television where me and my friend was sitting. Never came around to our table but she was spotted the whole night talking to her friends at the bar and texting on her phone. I even got banned from coming back and didn't do anything. This is a very solid bar! They've recently done a renovation and reopened so we went to check it out. Their back patio is awesome. Dog friendly and huge. They added some comfy couch seating which we really liked. The inside didn't look too different from before. The food came out quickly. Biggest surprise about this place: the food! Their wings, spicy chicken sandwich, burgers, and pizza are all great. All homemade salad dressings. Service is typically one bartender and no servers, so be prepared to wait a bit. If you're not in a hurry, which you shouldn't be here, it's not a big deal. We came in on a Friday evening as it was starting to fill up. Mostly for a quick bite to eat. We had heard the pizza was good. We started with the toasted ravioli. It was pretty standard and delicious. We got three small sized bar pizzas. They were Buffalo chicken, chicken bacon ranch and pepperoni. The two chicken pizzas were delicious! Had great flavors. Good ingredients and a thinner, crispy crust. The pepperoni pizza was good, but the crust didn't get as crunchy as the other two. Would have liked to see it cooked another minute or two. Drinks were good. The bartenders were nice. Would definitely go back if I were in the area again. Had been drinking several hours. Forgot pictures. I'll do better next time. read more
