The food is truly delicious, but be extremely specific when placing an online order. The owner does not accommodate mistakes, even when the error is on their end. One of my items was prepared incorrectly, and instead of remaking the sandwich, the owner grilled the missing vegetables and handed them to me, telling me to add them myself. I explained multiple times that I did not want a "refurbished" sandwich -- I simply wanted it remade. He refused and insisted on giving me a refund instead of correcting the order. Thankfully, his daughter stepped in with kindness and offered to remake my sandwich, which I appreciated. To keep customers satisfied, it's important not to become upset when a mistake is made. A simple remake would have resolved the issue. I will patronize them again, but I will never order online again. read more

This is their second brick-and-mortar location, and it's a major upgrade from the smaller first version. The space is spectacular big, open, and full of great energy. Amber, the food is absolutely amazing! The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You've got to get over here and try their soft opening menu--it's on point from start to finish. I love breaded shrimp and chicken. Every Lent I make sure to stop in at Vails Brothers in Tower Grove. It is a small location, and I'd recommend ordering take out to go if you are in a rush. The wait time is ~15 minutes if you order which still isn't bad at all. There are a couple tables inside, but I've always just walked back to my office to eat. The portions are huge, so don't over order. I've only ever ordered the shrimp, but I've also heard good things about their chicken. read more

I frequent Vails and the food and service have always been good! My go to meals are the chicken wings/tenders with fries in the honey hot sauce or the chicken wings with shrimp and fries with the honey hot sauce. I also like the catfish as well. read more

I had this restaurant saved to try for awhile and I'm glad I finally did. My default meal is chicken tenders; their lemon pepper ones are delicious! Fries were not over seasoned and for the first time I tasted a roll that was soft. Even with a 25 minute drive home the food was still hot. I'll definitely be back. read more

I was finally able to try Vails Brothers after hearing great things over the years. I got the 6 piece jumbo fried shrimp meal that comes with fries and a roll. The shrimp had the potential to be GREAT (I could tell it was seasoned well) but it was fried TOO hard, so it lost all its flavor and it was hard to eat. Disappointing! I will come back and try the shrimp again and also the catfish. They continue to open locations and have expanded to Houston, Texas, so I am sure it is worth a second try. read more

Loved this gem! I stopped in before heading to Serendipity for ice cream and I am SO glad that I decided to. My daughter and I were celebrating her completing a project, and stopped in for dinner. I got wings (hot lemon pepper) and shrimp, she got chicken fingers and we shared some mac & cheese. The food was BOMB. Even my picky eater raved about it. The wings and shrimp were perfectly battered and crisp. The sauce on the wings was just the right mix of flavors too - I feel like a lot of lemon pepper hot sauces go heavy on the buffalo and light on the lemon pepper, so you lose that flavor completely. Vail gets it right, with the perfect mix of spice and citrus. The fries were unseasoned, which left them open to customizing with salt and pepper, and the mac and cheese was nice too (it's a roux-based sauce, not a baked mac).
