We were down the street so we decided to try this place and glad we did! The place is decorated like a modern chicken farm and has ample seating both inside and out. You order right when walking in and they bring your food out to you. They have craft sodas and iced teas for drinks and then have a sauce station with all of their available sauces (amazing)!!! Ash Wednesday! Had to visit Grace to get that cod! Lots of young people running the store on this visit and they were crushing it! From taking orders, running food, cleaning tables, and handling carry out they were impressive. I got the cod and stole some of my husband's fries. I was very glad when I heard another chicken and fish place was taking over the spot of Crestwood's OG - King Edward's. Outside of the building has been redone and yes, the inside as well. While there are large screens displaying the menu and the place has clearly experienced some much needed face-lift, I was really hoping for food quality that would grab me and never let go. It is worth noting that the menu items appear to be a la carte. I love fried green tomatoes so I ordered that off of their appetizer menu and a buffalo chicken sandwich, no modification. My husband had the 3 piece fried chicken and a medium order of fries. My buffalo chicken sandwich was good but not exactly mind blowing. The chicken was lukewarm but perhaps because they were waiting for my husband's fried chicken? No, that was not it. I tried his fried chicken, it was okay and slightly warm. They could have benefited from a little more seasoning. The FGT were made of pickled tomatoes. I have nothing against pickles, I love them in fact but I like the traditional non pickled FGT. Just a preference and I don't remember seeing this noted as "pickled" on the menu. There are other things I'd like to try from here someday such as the fish and their collard greens side. It was very unorganized and not the cleanest place for having just opened this location. The sandwiches don't come with sides. I ordered hush puppies with high expectations and they were subpar. Everything tasted like it was seasoned the same...fries, Mac and cheese, chicken. You know what was delicious though? The fried pickles. You order at a counter and get a table number. Someone from behind the counter brings you your food. You are responsible for cleaning your own table off and getting your own boxes from an area that was not the cleanest. My first time here. I love Buffalo sauce so I ordered the Buffalo Soldier. It was really tasty. It had a large chicken breast, lettuce, pepper jack cheese, pickles, and onion straws. The flavors worked well together and it was a good size sandwich. The Grace Fries are crinkle cut and had a nice dusting of seasoning. Instead of ketchup, I used the Comeback sauce. So, so excited that there's a closer location to me! The place was busy (second weekend it's open), but the owner and staff were on top of things! My husband ordered the Buffalo Soldier sandwich. He said it had just the right amount of ranch to cool off the buffalo. He really enjoyed it. I had the Filet-o-Grace, and it was a really good combination of flavors. We split a regular order of fries with a side of pimiento queso. Yum! The fries are well seasoned and don't "need" anything with them -- but the queso was so worth it. They have a selection of local soft drinks and alcoholic options and a few dessert options. They also have a space to get some sauces for your food. The latest location of Grace. Dangerous because it is so much closer to home than the location the The Grove! We tried a couple of different things, including the Cajun crawfish bread which was spicy and tasty! The chicken strips are always good and the sides were fresh and well seasoned! The rest of the menu seems to mirror the original location. Sounds like brunch is coming soon, but not available yet. Space is limited because of the space, but table emptied fairly quickly when we were there. Just be a little patient and you'll be fine! We wondered if because of the way the room is laid out, that they may try just having 3 long communal tables. The location is clean and bright, with minimal decoration. The ones that we saw had fun designs. A small issue, they do charge for sauce for chicken strips (my daughter got ranch for $1) but there's a station by the drinks where you can get your own cups for free. Worst fried chicken I've ever had. Not saying that to be sensational. It was SOGGY, like it was boiled in water instead of fried. Is that how it's supposed to be, or did something horrible happen to my order? Isn't fried chicken supposed to be crispy? The answer is yes. But it was not. Bleh. Trash. I tried an original chicken thigh and a hot chicken thigh. Both soggy. The Mac and cheese was average if I'm being charitable. The slaw was pretty good, as was the cornbread. My mom and I had a great lunch at Grace! This is super close to my house, so I'm super excited that I finally got to check it out. I struggle with this review because I really respect the OG location for everything the owner did for people during Covid, but I was so overwhelmed by this location and disappointed. I'll start with a positive, the entire staff was so fantastic and friendly and helpful. Even though you order out a counter, they still bring you your food and are attentive like a server would be in a restaurant. The location is good with lots of windows so you get the sunshine inside the restaurant. Now onto the negative. Unfortunately, all of the food we had was not great. I got the fish and it was so overcooked and unseasoned that no amount of sauce could save it. Considering the very high price point for the food, that was even more shocking that it was so poorly executed. For two small pieces of battered cod that barely cover a slice of white bread, it was $15, almost $20 after tax and tip. New location in Crestwood! They have a slightly different menu offering vs the location in Tower Grove, but all great options! I opted for the extra hot 3 tender meal with fries and a drink. It wasn't crazy spicy, but it had great flavor! The fries are crinkle cut and soo good. The sauces were all amazing - my favorites were the whiskey bbq and bama sauce. So good! The cashier was very friendly and helpful. We had high expectations for the food. We got two two-pieces of dark, an order of deviled eggs, two fountain beverages with a medium Mac-and-Cheese. It cost close to $49. The chicken wasn't crispy and had little flavor but at least it was freshly fried. The deviled eggs had a bit of a fishy flavor. Maybe anchovies were used? We had problems negotiating the online menu to order versus their actual offerings so we called for carry out. The order was for 3 ppl and once placed on the phone it was ready in about 20 minutes. We picked it up but discovered once home that one of the meals were missing, though we had paid for it. Someone had to go back with a receipt to get the missing meal. They apologized and gave us a brownie to compensate for the lapse. I had the battered cod which was pretty good but the garnish served with it was not good and there was no tartar sauce or malt vinegar so I made some tartar sauce at home . Also had fries and cole slaw. The fries were good. Cole slaw was okay. Another in our group had the crawfish bread with fries. He said they were both good. The third in our party had fried chicken (legs) sweet potatoes and coleslaw. She wanted mashed potatoes but they only had the mashed sweet potatoes which she said were just okay. This establishment is close to home and was replacing the king Edward's chicken and fish establishment. Honestly they were better and maybe graces will improve once they settle in to the neighborhood. The dining room is bright and cheery though frankly it's a better take out place. I didn't order their staples, so I can't judge them on their signature dishes, but what I did get was still very good--especially with all the sauces (which I loved). There was a small mix-up on my order, but it wasn't a big deal. I think I got the wrong spice level because I know they can bring serious heat, but my "second hottest" barely had any kick. (July 2025) Grace opened at this location taking over the former King Edwards a month before I visited. I was never a fan of King Edwards' fried chicken, so I was glad to see it gone. There was plenty of parking spaces on their surface lot when we arrived. The lady behind the counter saw us reviewing the bakery case and told us the strawberry crunch hand pie was freshly made so that helped me make my mind up on that. I ordered 2-piece catfish and greens for my meal. I was confused by the sauce styles (Maybe I missed descriptions somewhere) and where to find silverware (none by the sauce stand). We made our way outside to eat because the weather was fine. When they brought out the food, it looked sooo good including the collard greens. However, when I took a bite out of the greens, it was super-duper salty. Inedible salty. I made a sad face and paused my eating. I am not one to send food back, so I had my friend try it and she too felt it was oversalted so when someone came to check on us, we sent it back and asked for mac n cheese. Now THAT was delicious and not oversalted. I ate all my meal except the bread (I never eat the bread that is soaking up the oil). The fish was perfectly crusty yet tender and not over or under seasoned. I do not know what sauce I grabbed but the fish was good with that. I took a bite of my hand pie, and it was like an adult version and sophisticated strawberry pop tart. The fresh strawberries came through and the crust and frosting were perfect and not overbearing. I've been to Grace Chicken Fish chicken several times and this past weekend was my second time to their Watson location. Upon entering, I was greeted by CC who was pleasant and delightful to talk too. I was going to get my normal four wing platter when CC raved about the chicken and waffles, so I opted for the latter. I wanted to shout out CC who provided us with her southern charm making my experience one to remember. As always, the chicken was delicious and the waffle was thin and crispy, which is how I prefer my waffles if I ever eat them. I got home and opened up the catfish and I just couldn't believe the 2 pieces I got for $12. They were so small, like 3 bites and they were gone. The shrimp was fine as was the bird but at $18 the wing could have been a full wing and the drum stick was teeny. The taste was fine as were the sides. That was a pretty good meal deal and was much cheaper than ordering everything à la carte. The chicken tenders were pretty good size and had great flavor to them. I ordered them with the original flavoring and tried a different sauces on them. They had several different options to try. The french fries were crinkle cut and had a good seasoning on them. The restaurant was freshly painted and welcoming. The famous meals were pretty good deals. If you ordered things separately got a little expensive by the time you ordered your sandwich fries, and a drink. They also had several beer, wine and cocktail options to choose from as well as dessert options. On Saturday and Sundays before 3 PM they had a brunch menu as well. The coating fell off when I cut the tomatoe, little seasoning, but a tasty dipping sauce. I had the shrimp powboy with a side of greens. They should clean the shrimp better, I found several 'veins' when I took a bite. It was very messy, I had to cut the sandwich to eat it. It too needed more seasoning. Good tasting sauce on the chicken, not over powering and allowing the juicy chicken flavor to come through. Only issue with the food was the fries were just a tad warmer than room temp. Tried the Comeback sauce and the ranch for my fries and have to say l'll just mix the two flavors next time. Can't tell you how the staff was right there asking how everything was and are you good?
