The service this recent visit was really great--fast for how busy it was, attentive and friendly. The last few times, I think we caught either a bunch of new people or they were understaffed and the wait time was probably over 30 mins before getting food after ordering. This recent visit was a welcome reprieve. Food wise, really delicious, and I love that they partnered with the science center for their galactic brownie shake. Though it looked delicious, it is not gluten free! Weirdly, while we were there, at least 2 galactic brownie milkshakes were dropped by customers and shattered. The staff took great care in cleaning up the messes quickly. I couldn't give them a 5 star for gluten free dining, because the gf bun was so dry, I was coughing from dry crumbs the entire time eating it. The last several times I got it, the bun was frozen and cold still. If we're charging so much extra for a gf bun, it should be closer to what I'm getting if I was ordering without an allergy. My final gripe was that I got the dregs of the unsweetened ice tea, and it actually came out thiiick, like chunky. It was so gross that I got water instead. read more

Also got onion rings, crispy, portion size (maybe 5 rings) was a bit small compared to the cost, but they tasted good. For drink I grabbed a strawberry shake - delicious, huge, and to be honest a great value for the price. They have wine and beer, which I'll have to check out another time - selection looked pretty good. They often have specials, such as shake of the week - be sure to check the board. There is lots of seating, including in a tent and also shipping container, and the tables turn over pretty quickly. While a bit on the pricey side for burgers / fries, I feel it was worth it based on the excellent service, fresh, flavorful food, and of course, the killer shake. Full disclosure: my burger was free for my birthday, however this is my honest review. Hi-Pointe is on point! My friends and I decided to stop by on a post-Christmas day of festivities. Having dietary restrictions can making dining out (especially at a burger spot) difficult. I expressed my concerns and was assured that they use one side of their grill for only turkey and chicken. They were so kind with my apologies for asking questions and took my concerns seriously. The decor is a combo of retro and contemporary. The food was beyond reproach. The burger was among the best I've ever had, and the milkshake was thick and luscious. What was unusual was the staff. A guy was doing some cleaning by the front door and he stopped and greeted us. We asked him a few questions about the food and he made some well thought out recommendations. It's honestly been awhile since I stopped at Hi-Pointe (the last time was for the Mondu burger challenge), but I've been quite a few times over the past couple of years. Since I first started going, I will say the McCausland location in particular has become a little bit more greasy and dingy inside than when it first opened. They've made adjustments to the menu and other things over the years as well, some of which have been good and some of which have been a little disappointing. The burgers here are solid smash-burgers, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. I really enjoy the variety of sauces, including the andalouse and ranch (can ask staff for this). On a busy evening, you may have a little more of a wait than one would expect, and I always leave smelling like burgers (which isn't always a bad thing!) Prices are pretty reasonable and in-line with what you'd expect nowadays. Overall, a really solid spot with great burgers and sauces. I'll definitely be back! read more
