I originally chose Lola's for its location -- halfway between me and the friend I was meeting. She is also gluten-free, so wanted to be sure she had many options. And boy did they!! I'm sharing again that I rarely give 5 stars for a first-time visit, but Lola's gets it. Yes, it's small -- but it's not cramped. You just want to get there early if you're dining in. What we had was so fresh and delicious -- my friend got a sort of bowl with fresh apples and grilled chicken, and I got the cobb salad. Delicious, not overwhelming, but perfectly filling. Can't wait to return -- my goal is to eat my way through the entire menu. :)

Cozy cafe close to the walking bridge across the Hudson. It's not easy to make a good panini with a bunch of 'wet' ingredients like tomatoes and mozzarella. But, Lola's pulled it off with a crispy crust, and creamy filling for their Tomato Mozzarella panini. The ginger-carrot soup was hearty and creamy with a touch of coconut cream. We ordered fries just for the heck of it and were surprised how crispy and hot they came out. The only quibbles would be a single, tiny toilet. All-in-all a very solid lunch spot, with good vegetarian options, reasonable prices and efficient service.

Lola's Cafe is a cool, relaxed spot with solid food. I had the hanger steak wrap really flavorful and cooked well, the peanut noodles were delicious and definitely hit the spot. Simple, good quality means. Would go back.

I wish every casual restaurant was more like Lola's: *personable interactions with staff (like, they are inquisitive and want to make sure you get what you need) *menus that cater to mainstream and vegan/vegetarian audiences (and with plenty of options on both) *reasonably-priced ($12-14 for most plates) We tried the blueberry tofu sandwich and the thai peanut tofu wrap and they were both fantastic! I appreciate that the vegetarian options tended to have protein in them rather than just lacking meat. I also tried the peanut noodles and they were to die for...next time I might ask for extra! Inside is cute, and although it's small with square footage, there are actually lots of places to sit and eat. They have a serve-yourself water station (that their helpful staff pointed out to us, even suggesting that we simply ask the folks in line to excuse us so we can get to the water). Quick, easy, DELICIOUS, and affordable. Wins all around.

Its been a while since i've been to lola's cafe And SURPRISINGLY I found their prices to be VERY reasonable in the american greedflation era we're in Atmosphere was neighborly Their menu was creative and the sandwich quality was great and FRESH ( Turkey Chipotle Panini ) I want to try their new venue in Eastdale, but have been warned by many that their prices are insane as is everything for sale in Eastdale TBD

Baja Chicken wrap with Black Bean & Corn salad

Lola's Cafe on Washington Street in Poughkeepsie is located close to the Metro North train station. That made it a convenient place to grab a quick bite as I was dropping my daughter off to catch the train. It's small, clean and friendly. The staff and the customers tend to be young. Marist College is nearby. I picked a Baja Chicken wrap. A side dish came with the order so I picked a black bean and corn salad. It was a nice meal that came relatively quickly. The food was good but not extraordinary in anyway. The seating was comfortable but the tables are too close together. I would have preferred to have not overheard the conversations of the college students to my right or the mother and son to my left discussing more serious matters. But we were seated so close together that it felt as though we were sharing tables. I get the fact that the staffers are doing their best with a small space.

The food here was good. Everyone enjoyed what they had. My husband had the brisket grilled cheese and he really enjoyed it. Love the vibe in here and a good selection of drinks in the fridges at the back. We came on a busy lunchtime and all the seats were taken. We Were told by a member of the wait staff that they would seat us when seats became available and we tucked ourselves out of the way but then another groups of 4 came in and asked another member of staff and sat down before us. Just a word of caution as I feel like it should have been a seat yourself situation and then we would have been on the look out. Otherwise really enjoyed.

We decided to go to Lola's after a very quick research for a place for lunch that had vegetarian options. What a great surprise to get there and not only see those options, but also a vegan menu! Even my husband decided to order vegan after that. My Thai wrap was divine, side of fries on point. My husband ordered a blueberry tofu sandwich that was pretty good, and the side of peanut noodles was so delicious. We were so happy to find a place with plenty of vegetarian options, the staff was very friendly, and overall, just good vibes! We will definitely come back.

My steak was a little undercooked, but otherwise everything was excellent and we had a wonderful evening. One odd footnote: I ordered a bourbon with a large ice cube and discovered a $3 upcharge on the bill. I've been ordering bourbon and scotch at bars around the world for decades and can't recall encountering that before. I wasn't bothered by the $3 nearly as much as the surprise charge with zero disclosure. Nothing on the cocktail menu. Nothing from the waiter. No indication whatsoever that asking for a large rock carried an additional charge. Charge whatever you want, but tell the customer before adding it to the bill. When I mentioned it, they graciously removed the charge, and I had a very pleasant conversation with a manager who understood the point and agreed it should be disclosed going forward. That's exactly how good hospitality should work. Excellent restaurant, excellent experience, and absolutely somewhere I'd return.

From the decor to the setup to the wine selection and balance in every dish, it's clear that the entire concept was carefully thought out and delicately crafted from the starts. Parking is simple and convenient with street parking right outside and a parking lot across the street. It wouldn't be a problem even on a busy Friday night. When you walk in, you're immediately greeted by the first of the food hall stations. But keep going back and to the right (there is plenty of signage) and you'll find the host stand for the restaurant. It's separated from the food hall from the bar, but in an open air concept, which brings a lot of energy into the space that you wouldn't normally get with a restaurant. The decor is so unique and IG worthy, especially in the bathroom. Seriously though, go in. It's awesome. We ordered wine, drinks, a salad, and 2 entrees. Honestly, everything was to die for. I expressed an allergen at the beginning and every single thing we ordered from that point was double checked for the allergen - even dishes that weren't mine because she knew we planned on sharing and stealing bites. I was most surprised by the warm shrimp salad. Even with a citrus base and picked peppercorns (which I'd never had before but we're SO good), I would categorize it as savory. It was a real culinary delight. Not to mention that the shrimp was perfectly cooked. I'd rate it a 4.5 out of 5. The only thing stopping me from giving a full 5 stars would be the service. It was very good, just not perfect, which is to be expected with a new restaurant that opened just a few weeks ago. I plan on returning in the next few months, and I'm sure I'm going to be able to edit this last paragraph out after my next visit.

To be honest my wife and I were saving the inn for a romantic night away but tonight we were shopping as a family right by the restaurant and everyone was dressed nice so we decided to try it. Are you kidding me with this joint? I'm so glad we went in. The service was over the top, we had a waitress and a maitre'd waiting on us hand and foot. The food was also an excellent experience- I started with a shrimp cocktail which had 2 different cocktail sauces. I then had the osso bucco on a bed of risotto - not to be missed. More recently, a coworker of mine mentioned she had dined here. Hubs and I had just finished with a gender reveal party in Stony Point and decided to come here then afterwards head up home. Ship L. has a warm, woodsy charm with dark woods, a large bar area to the right as you enter. This place has a spacious dining area on the left with an old-school energy that feels just right for a long-standing rest'nt like this one. Service was great from everyone: friendly, attentive and welcoming all around. That said, awesome service and history can only carry a restaurant but so far. We were told their long-standing chef of 30+ yrs either resigned(?) or didn't want to work here(?) and based on what my coworker told me- that she noticed a difference in the cooking not too long ago when she came here. Sadly, it shows. Our escargots were extremely salty. My husband's pork chop was salty. His vegetables also salty. At that point, I held out hope that my Chilean sea bass might at least redeem the evening. No such luck. Salty again. Even the mushroom risotto- which actually had delicious flavor, was overpowered by too much salt. By then, after one appetizer and two entrées all salty, we figured dessert would at least save the night. Nope. I ordered profiteroles with chocolate gelato instead of vanilla and was truly looking forward to them. Except, the profiteroles were rock hard. The chocolate drizzle tasted like Hershey's syrup, making the dessert taste cheap for a restaurant of this type. My husband, who always goes for sorbet, ordered the mango flavor- but to me it tasted like an unripe mango blended with sugar just to make it palatable.. If you're from the Caribbean or know a true mango taste, you know exactly what I mean. And don't even get me started on the cocktails- they tasted more like juice than actual drinks. At the end of the night, we realized we weren't imagining things. A $245 dinner with weak cocktails, overly salty food and disappointing desserts was no balance for a restaurant with such a long-standing history. For that reason... we out.
