We had the wagu carpaccio as a starter & I had the burger which was top 5 best burgers I've ever eaten with homemade pickles & short ribs in the beef mix. I want to update my review. For some reason, the waitress did not, ask my daughter and our friend in what order they wanted their food served. She brought my daughters soup first and our friends salad first and the salad should have been second for our friend. Not the worst thing in the world, but at these prices everything should be perfect. The service should be excellent and it was mediocre. My daughter noticed an older couple who walked in, were seated and were not given menus and 15 minutes went by and finally the guy gets up and he's old and crippled and can hardly walk. He has to walk around the restaurant to find someone who will give him a menu!!! The waitstaff is not doing the owner any favors at all. The food was excellent. read more

Went here for the first time with some friends and tried a little bit of everything. I will preface this by saying we came for lunch so dinner may be a different experience. There is a small parking lot in the back or street parking. Parking was difficult to find and it might be due to multiple businesses in the same building. The atmosphere was spacious and relaxing. Big TVs to watch sports and a full bar. We started off with Montecito potato skins which was mind blowing! Cooked perfectly with delicious toppings and sauce. Please just order this and enjoy! The ahi was fresh, flavor and fantastic! Loved it! The Louie salad was good but not as much of an experience as the other plates. The chocolate peanut butter pie was rich but so good! The crust was perfection! The horchata sundae was a surprise with the churros on the bottom instead of decoration on top. But it worked! My Montecito Mami was an amazing drink that I just had to order a second! Bring your friends and come enjoy this place! read more

3 months ago we stopped in for a quick drink & an order of fries. The food, drinks, service & ambience were all outstanding. Today we stopped in & had very special margaritas & the burger with fries. A fresh breeze wafted across the Montecito eateries not long ago and landed on a store front and back? Of a business that was once a chiropractor's office. According to all the chit-chat we heard from friendly patrons during our first visit to this fabulous new restaurant, It was miraculously transformed by the owner who had his eye on that spot for 5 years. And what a spot it is! The menu echos the eclectic vibe of this casual space with a superb original menu that changes except for favorites. We discovered it by accident. Come to think of it, that's the way we discovered most of our now favorite restaurants. Be adventurous fellow foodies, there are so many restaurants out there and so little time. Follow your instincts and you may be among the first to discover a truly great restaurant few people know about yet. There were so many wonderful things on the Local menu it was hard to choose, but ultimately it was heads or tails. My dinner mate chose the Citrus Beet Salad and a Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail and I had a favorite, The Louie Salad. I could babble on for three pages about the delights of these three dishes. I am drooling just thinking about them now! The Beet Salad had had a layer of whipped ricotta on the bottom, watercress, toasted hazelnuts , mint, orange and radish- with 2 kinds of beets, purple & orange. The jumbo Shrimp Cocktail had the plumpest shrimp I had ever saw . My husband couldn't help him himself, he ate one before I photographed it. Okay I said, now you have to rate it since you ate it! (With his mouth full of jumbo shrimp he rated it "Super Excellent"). I had the Louie Salad which was so beautiful when it arrived I hated to start eating it. Once I did, I couldn't stop. Bacon, avocado, extra plump giant shrimp, butter leaf lettuce, heirloom cherry tomatoes, and giant plump shrimp, with a delightfully light Louie dressing. One last note. I like to study how the overall ambience of a restaurant effects the behavior of its patrons . There are people who prefer the formality of the regular Montecito reserved dinner manner. I am not one of them. During both of our visits, people at other tables engaged in lively interesting conversations with us. What was most interesting is that on both occasions these people were obviously considerably younger than we were! It's true, we are both arty looking people but. Excited to see a new spot in town, as we go to Lucky's too much :D Reviews were good and some hype around it, so took a gf and my mom to check out dinner and drinks after Rosewood. The vibe is cool, with a large circular bar ready to watch your fellow local cougars and gals being approached by the guy who might have not brushed his hair, but owns a 15mil mansion nearby. The food was not that great/overpriced for what we got, but the drinks were nice. I got some tommy bahama looking drink and we all laughed, but they were good. They have live music as well on certain nights. I might go if someone takes me on a date, but probably not just on my own for the time being! Still, fun spot for a group and date for sure! A party of eight came to eat and enjoy two birthdays at your wonderful restaurant BUT am soooo disappointed our server was delayed the whole time, not knowledgeable about menu. Food showed up cold, not as good as last year. I reached out and recommended your place last year to my Celiac community so excited to share tge great food and place to eat... but late on clean up as we are waiting for drinks to be refreshed. My friend and I decided to treat ourselves for once, and we were blown away by the ambiance and delicious food. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a classy night out. I have been wanting to try this new restaurant in Montecito. It looks wonderful and the ambiance of the setting is lovely. Loved the outdoor fireplace and lots of seating indoors and outside. Also heard they have live music, which sounds delightful. Unfortunately, the setting was the highlight of the visit! The menu is very short and not very inspiring. A few appetizers, a few sides, a few salads and only a few entrees. And the prices were extremely high for the entrees, too! I mean $44 for steak and frites? When you can get the best in town at another local restaurant for $27!!! Or $24 for a hamburger!!? Unfortunately, Local Montecito seem to have gone mad on pricing. Another example is wines per bottle at $65 - 90 for pretty average stuff! Or a glass at $18 for a very small glass of wine. I do have to say that the cocktail list is innovative and the margarita I had was lovely. But at $20 it should be!!! Finally, the food we received was pretty average. Nothing special or that I would go back for. And the service was mediocre, too. When our order was delivered we asked for some mayonnaise... it never arrived and no one ever came to check up on us during our entire meal. All in all, despite the lovely ambiance, I won't be going back. read more

10/10 experience. I had lunch here with a dear friend and was early enough for a spot on the patio. Very gorgeous and casual decor as well as spacious seating area. The server was great and attentive. He recommended what to order since we'd never been. We wanted a lighter lunch so we got the yellowtail , carrots, & beet salad. All divine. Went for dinner/drinks last night. Drinks and bar service was great. The starters were okay. The mains? 3 out of 4 were not good! The fries were so salty they were inedible (and I like salty foods). The burgers were like warm- the cheese on mine wasn't even close to melted. Our server was fine but not outstanding. Been supporting Local since moving here. Not sure what happened tonight but I've had it. The same bartender has been rude to me about a dozen times. Could not be less interested in service. She looks pissed to be interacting with you. It is not unique to me but tonight was the end of going here. I have met the owner several times and thought he was nice and wanted to support the effort. This place has turned into the worst place in Montecito. Never again will I l frequent it. Enough is enough with the crappy service, cold restaurant and overpriced food. Really was pleasantly surprised with Local last visit. Went for my mom's birthday and sat in the back room which was really nice and private. The biggest surprise was they changed the menu for the better. I have came here twice before and wasn't that impressed and couldn't find much on the menu. Everything we ordered this time was delicious; Brussels, shishito peppers, and the salmon were delicious. I'm not sure everyone loved the branzino though. But it was mostly all very good and flavorful. All in all though I am really happy with the new changes to the menu and look forward to dining here again. read more

We had an amazing Christmas Eve Dinner. Delicious prix fixe meal with wine pairing. Hats off to the sommelier - she was very knowledgeable and I got to experience some fabulous wines. Hidden just below the street level on Coast Village Drive, LOCAL is truly a hidden gem. The staff are friendly and were very efficient in handling a very busy July 4th crowd (all the customers looked to be having a great time). Ambiance is coastal cool, reminded us of a few places we've been to in Hawaii and the food, from appetizers to mains to desserts were top notch. Their wine/cocktail list is solid, this is a place I'd come to to just have drinks at the bar and watch a game. Don't get me wrong, and no offense to anyone who runs a bar, but the fare here is well beyond Gastropub, it's just well executed food at all levels. We're locals and absolutely will make Local a regular spot for ourselves but will have to bring out of town guests here too. They'll be impressed. read more

Came here for date night and sat at the bar which was beautiful and the bartender was very attentive. Had a couple different signature drinks - the 'hot off the Plancha' was awesome if you like something a little spicy. We split the Greek salad to start, the toasted quinoa on it gave it a special crunch that we really enjoyed. For dinner we split the the branzino - the skin was crispy and delicious. Had a nice dinner here last night, got a bottle of wine (55ish), burger (27), and the skirt steak with chimichurri and vegetables (36). Price was approximately $160 for 2 of us after tip. Unsure if they have a corkage fee, if I was to go again, I'd ask, the the wine price really catapulted our dinner cost for 2. Prices were a little high imo and surprised me, maybe it is a Montecito thing? If it was more affordable, this place would be a 4.5/5 for me. Burger was amazing! The steak was cooked perfectly as we had asked and the wine was great too. The location is interesting because it's in a shopping plaza sort of, but they had their own area with a lot of different seating arrangements. Heaters around + 2 fire pits and there was nice live music playing too. Fairly busy night but the servers were very nice, some hosts near by at other restaurants have a snobby Montecito attitude and I was not feeling it lol. I walked in last night at 730ish, but I would recommend a reservation tbh I feel like we got lucky because a party did not show up. They do have bar and fire pit seating that is 'open' so if you're looking to risk a walk-in that is an option! read more

The cocktails are well made, but the bartender made my guest a drink because he thought she'd like it but that she did not order, and wasn't going to order another, and he still charged her for it, which I find odd having been in the industry myself. My first time here, and the menu looked fantastic! But the service was pretty horrible. I was there in the middle of the afternoon, and I think I was my server's only table. So there was no reason for my service to be so horrible. My server was more interested in chatting with other staff and looking at his phone than he was in taking care of customers. It took him forever to even come over and take my order. And when my salad came, I asked him for some extra salad dressing. He said sure, and walked off, but never returned. About 10 minutes later he finally came over to ask how my salad was. I said, "Um... I've been waiting for more salad dressing." And he said, "Oh, no one brought that out to you?" Um, no. You look to be the only server on duty. Who else did you think was going to bring it to me? My salad also came out with almost all of the ingredients listed on the menu MISSING from the plate. Which is not my servers fault. But if he had been an attentive server, this could have been rectified much more quickly. Having been in the restaurant service industry for many years in my life, I can frankly say that this guy needs to find another line of work. The food was mostly good. Definitely quality ingredients. Although I was disappointed that the salmon on my salad had absolutely NO seasoning on it. Not sure why any chef would do that. I asked for salt and pepper to help with my very plain salmon, and the salt shaker was unusable. I guess no one has told them that if you keep a little bit of rice inside the salt shaker the salt won't clump. Very disappointing first visit, but I know they are still fairly new, so I will probably give them a chance and try again. read more

Four of us had a Thursday night reservation. It was a wet cold evening so al fresco dining wasn't an option. The bartender was chatting up several patrons who were having drinks and small plates. Chicken wings (8pc) were a meaty starter with deep flavor. Our favorite entree of the night was Duck Confit with Gnocchi, if gnocchi looks and tastes like a personal size quiche. Horrible customer service. It started with the hostess and even continued to the bartender. The staff was rude and very uninviting.

We just left this place. Yes, the wings and overall the food was great for the menu they had at the time. We went in at 1 and they only had the brunch menu on weekends. The problem is that our server was horrible. He was not friendly , did not ask us if we needed an umbrella and another server (lady, brown hair) asked us. She even brought our check out after we asked the guy and waited over 15 minutes. My husband had to get up to ask him and the sweet lady helped us. Everyone deserves to be treated nicely. We always give 18% tip , or even 20%, but we gave him 15%. As locals here - I was excited to come here. I just know that if I come again I will ask not to be placed with that server. This is the only reason really that made our experience not so good :/ read more

I stumbled upon this place for HH last time I was visiting my grandma in Montecito! Wonderful food and great atmosphere!

Wasn't impressed. We got there and all our waiter was concerned about was how much we were going to spend. Everything was an upsell. Fine, but you can also give a little service with it and a smile never hurts. He was an older guy so maybe he just didn't want to be there. The food was average to above average. Drinks took awile to get, but I do admit they were tasty. If we go back, we will just sit at the bar for drinks and appetizers. read more

Disappointed that the menu was changed in the fall. As a vegetarian, there are less options now. We used to go a lot but now that there's the new menu since the fall, we barely go anymore yet would love to return if they create more veg options that aren't only potatoes or fried things. read more
